I've been working on this army for a couple of years now, and wanted to share.

When it was announced last year that the Mirrored City drifted in relatively close proximity to where the Slaanesh is held, I thought this would be an interesting hobby challenge for my Hosts theme!

A Seeker Host is drawn to the occluded pathways leading to the Cursed City of Spadespire, lost in the Gloaming. They sense the Dark Prince is near, and set about tearing through the shifting realities of the city. The warped time and space of cursed Shadespire does not hinder the daemons as might be expected, for they are entities of filthy Chaos energy and corrupt matter. They slaughter the derelict souls of the citizeny and warbands and hunt the essence of the kataphranes even as they cower in the pocket dimensions of broken shadeglass shards and mirrors. And so the denizens of the Mirrored City must face a horror beyond death. The Host seeks to cast a great ritual and corrupt the city itself into a vast living icon of excruciation and eternal return. This willl be the vessal of damnation they will use to travel the Gloaming to find the Dark Prince...

I will be uploading images and project updates here. I will also be looking for feedback on what could help make a more realistic "Shadespire" theme for basing, conversions etc. Cheers

That’s my Chronomantic Cogs Endless Spell. Here’s a better pic of it.

I’ve been waiting for new paints and things to arrive to help take this project to the next stage.
I hadn’t used the Nighthaunt colour scheme before so it was fun to play around with it.
I’ll be incorporating more chopped up Spirit Hosts and other creatures of undeath into my units.
Is there anything else I could be using to provide more of a Shadespire feel? Thanks

Contorted Epitome Completed

My first Soulfeaster Keeper of Secrets. This wsa going to be the Exalted Keeper to lead my Hedonite Hosts into Shadespire and lay the Mirrored City low. Alas the rules for the model were completely nerfed when the battletome was released.

I'm delighted with the model aside from some cracks on the arms. The main interest for me was the base which i think helps to convey the army narrative. I added a spirit that had been languishing for millennia inside the fractal reality of a Shadeglass mirror, only to be torn from its enchanted prison by the all consuming, annhilating wave of ontologically toxic horror / Chaos.

The narrative theme of my army is not simply to destroy Shadespire, but to remake it into a vessel of Chaos.

More details of the base

Due to the size of these models it seemed a waste of green stuff to fill in the base under the bladed wheels. Instead I turned the base around and filled the gaps with cracklepaint. I liked the idea that there were pools of magical glass submerging parts of Shadespires streets or foundations. I think the effect worked well and I will be exploring this more with other units.

Some inspiration for an Endless Spell.

I’m working on my new Keeper of Secrets kit. Thinking of making this model the general and centrepiece of my army, the daemon lord Ego.

I’m building a crown of horns for the KoS to mark him out. It’ll take some time to figure out the configuration of what bits work best where. Plenty of greenstuff modelling to go!

In the last few months I have been toying around with what Ego,the Deliverer of Shadespire, chief antagonist of my narrative army, (and it’s General) will look like. I sketched out many of these long before the new Keeper of Secrets kit was released.

In the story, Ego is summoned to the belly of Shadespire by dreadful ritual and betrayal. In turn, Ego manipulates the curse of Shadespire against itself to tear open the veil of reality and summon the daemon legions of Slaanesh for an all out daemonic incursion. Nagash will not suffer the slight to his power and with the barriers of reality already weakened by Chaos, he sends Lady Olynder and a Night Haunt procession to bring his wrath to the invaders. But Chaos is saturating the Mirrored City and reshaping it. Amid the maelstrom shrieking souls and revenants being devoured by Daemons of Chaos, the Mortarch of Grief challenges Ego to combat.

Some of these drawings relate to the outcome of that combat. Lady Olynder hangs eviscerated on Ego’s claws, the ontologically toxic essence of Chaos spreading through her incorporeal form. Ego mocks her by taking one of her grave roses.

Lady Olynder is a bring beyond death, an ethereal entity whose form should be beyond corruption. Though her physical form perished centuries ago, she is once again faced with the horror of corruption. Chaos is the cancer of reality. There is no thing that it cannot corrupt whether it is physical, incorporeal, conceptual, abstract. Olynder now faces a doom beyond death: annihilation by the daemonic servants of the Dark Prince.

Starting work the model for Ego. The model will focus on the confrontation with Lady Olynder. I’ve done the basic assembly for both kits and the first steps to repose both of both models. This is a first for me as I’ve never reposed two heroic character models. I’m both extremely excited and really hoping it turns out okay!!

Okay, I have reposed the forearms. I have also reposed the fingers to delicately hold one of the plucked Grave Roses taken from Lady Olynder.

That's a pretty darn cool bit of modeling, that is. Nicely done.

Oh wow. The bases on the Contorted Epitome and Zarakynel are awesome. Are you going to leave the spikes and fingernails off Her?

New KoS is great, too. Probably going to rip that off.

Thanks, I’m leaving the fingernails and spikes off the FW Keeper. I ended up recycling them as basing material (teeth for the warpspawn).

There’s a lot of scope in the new KoS kit for interesting conversions. Looking forward to seeing what folk make with it.

Focusing on Lady Olynder being eviscerated. I liked the idea that the insubstantial nature shades and ghosts is still subject to the warping influence of Chaos.
