These Renegade space marines were founded when ultramarines form the 8th company where lost in a void storm in the battle of calth where there engines were shot dead Leaving them helplessly adrift in the Warp.

While in the Warp the brave ultramarines took high casualties and loses.
But through ingernerity and insane almost heretic ideas they made it.
Dead crew members were made into servo skulls to surve and maintain the ship as numbers fell so low.
The skin of void demons crafted into sails to push the crueser through the inmartirium.
Near dying men left to fight by their last breath alone.
Even going as far as scrapping parts of machinery to repair their own equipment.

But in the end the void spat them out bent, broken but still holding on. The time in the void couldn't be measured nor known but as they came out they were changed. Carrying the taint of chaos, the skin of some bleached white and eyes blackened, hair grayed, gene seed changed by this taint.
The body's of some are slowly and painfully turning from flesh to bone by the taint.
The taint also leaves Mentle levels unstable but those left bearly sane knew they couldn't go back to the imperium.
standing at nearly operating numbers, there love and loyalty to the holy emperor kept them standing.
They took a new vow. To travel the Warp looking for the lost children of the emperor to guide them back to his embrace. As to stop them from suffering there fate as well.

Taking this duty did not come easy as the dangers of the warp take their toll on there already small numbers and refusal to use there tainted gene seeds they can only rebuild numbers viva taking on fellow lost astarties willing to join them that they may find lost in the warp.
Willing to take any lost or dyeing member of the imperium as long as they haven't fallen to a chaos god, there numbers stay somewhat stable to be called a company. Maybe one day even a chapter.

Possible to fall to a chaos god, easily by result of the taint. They undergo a secret rite. To lessen the chance.

The great actseptice.
A rite of passage the children of the void take where they promise themselves to traveling the warp storms to wherever the importer may want them.
Giving up there soal.
They accept they are dead from now on and may never be with the imperium again from now on.

They recite this oth.

"Born to the emperor. Die to him.
Found by his children. Die to them.
Live for the empire. Die to it.
I surrender the only things I own.
My name, history, sole and life.
I who was lost am now found.
I am dead. I am gone. I am lost.
Take me my emperor.
Let my lost hand be guided by our hand"

A Chaplin takes them away into a room where he has them mind wiped and forid there history, they than take a new name from one of the fallen children and a servo skull will now be linked with them till they join there numbers of the fallen. They are then killed by lethal injection that stops all their hearts and then there resuscitated back. There now a child of the void.

Civilians and servicemen they save are also given the choice of services or rescue. As serf or there taken to the next safest planet.
Where ever it is.

After years of blindly traveling the warp and believing where they come out is where the dead emperor sent them. Sometimes coming out over planets at war and risking everything believing the emperor wanted them to join in.
They started repeatedly coming to the same planet, libecca V.
No bigger than holly Mars and stuck in a tidal lock orbit. The world is divided in two halfs. A sun scorched dead desert one side, the other a frozen wasteland of ice and snow.
The rim between these is a easily livable zone. Stuck in enteral sunset as the nature of the planet. It could be a paradise world if it wasn't for the 80 mph winds covering the planet and rapid void threat.

Before it was found by the children, the macanicis took it as there's. Building a industrial city underneath the rim till they came across a necron tomb.
In the frozen icelands the aldire made a giant library till they all dead off by the Necrons below.
The planet surface is covered in a black metallic sand perfect for crafting.

When the children came to this strange new world the first time they took report of the xeno life and took back to the void to only return after ever venture.
They took it as a sign of the emperor that this must be there's. So they took hold in the library and begone a slow war to fight the Necrons.
Soon the natives herd of the children and some went off to join them. Calling themselves the followers of the void.
Together the fought through the tomb world and ended the necron threat.
Now they continue the duty of venturing the void and returning to libecca V to resupply and prepare for the next trip. Ther followers acting alongside them.

Soon the inquisition herd romers of these Renegades taking and using imperium tech and rescuing people lost in the warp. So they sent them agents to check and follow the children of the void.
After a long search they finally met a team of them in burnt out space ship that just fell out the warp. The children in there non matching uniforms and the inquisition had a long talk. The children of the void team were deemed heretics and corrupted. hunted down by the gray knights and fought to the last man the team never got to relay the message to the rest of their battle brothers, the gray knight team took their servo skulls to gain intel on any bases or hideouts they may have out there.

If a member did fall. He'd be executed in a holly ceremony in the great Hall. In front of a tomb called the sleeping captain by the company champion. but there skulls won't be a servo. But instead ground down to a powder and cast into space.

The children of the void continue their self imposed mission without any idea the gray knights are looking for them. Still growing in all directions as for every man they lose they gain they gain a new number to the ever growing swarm of servo skulls maning there strike cruiser “the lost hand” as they continue to do their duty.

Most recently the children are stuck defending libecca V and her people in a war with the orks and death guard

They've got partially petrified flesh and gene-seed so mutatd as to be useless for rebuilding due to chaos taint (your words) and spend their lives roaming the void in a ship pulled by daemonskin sails.
I think we're long past "any sight of chaos corruption".

A radical inquisitor (or a cabal thereof) might be prepared to do a deal to keep the rest of the Imperium off their backs (they'd do a deal with daemons and actual heretics if it was useful) but puritans and frankly most moderates would have burned them on general principles.

Also, purging for chaos taint will likely be done by the Grey Knights, not the Deathwatch.



Equally, I sort of get the idea of warp-lorn survivors declaring "no-one else!" and roaming the warp looking for derelicts and hulks to rescue other castaways from. My main observation is that if they're doing this, when do they ever get involved in fights in real space - i.e. why would you ever see them on a battlefield?

My main issue is the spelling and grammar making this basically unreadable. I would strongly suggest typing it up on a computer and looking at all the underlined words.

These guys would still be Ultramarines, for one.

A unicorn isn't really fitting for a Space Marine Chapter. It's a bit like the Golden Partridges or Space Hippos. But you do you, but it doesn't seem to fit well.

You mention their gene-seed is tainted, their appearance altered, sails of Daemon-skin (a really cool concept though!), and their flesh turning to bone etc. I'm pretty sure the Inquisition would not agree to let them continue if that were the case. To put it this way: the Black Dragons likely send somebody else's gene-seed to cover their own issues, and all they have are kick-ass bone-growths. And as mentioned, the Deathwatch deal with Xenos, not Renegades.

Though your general concept (Space Marines capable of finding people in the Warp) is very similar to the Night Lords and Traitors during the HH, whom were able to use Daemons to track people. Maybe that's an angle worth exploring?

It's also worth exploring the concept of where these guys would go if they couldn't go to their home world. Most Renegades end up dead, in the Maelstrom, or in the Eye of Terror for very good reasons. You could maybe consider having signed some sort of Daemonic pacts to be able to navigate the Warp as well as they can, but they are wholly corrupted while still thinking they're doing the Emperor's bidding.

I just like the idea of corruption but still loyle.

They do come out now and than into real space for repairs but if they come out over a planet at war thell think it's the emporer wanting them to join in.
The children of the void are denile over ther own fate in my head, so I'm also thinking the Chaplin of there's had a hand in this inqusinion meet up.

Unicorns are the symbol of Scotland and I'm known as "the gay one" at group so fitting for me.

Thanks for the idea on nicking and handing over someone else's geneseed. As thell tske any one from a space marine chapter I do plan on having dome black dragons in this (so far it's utramarines, reven gaurd and space wolves)

I will look into the night Lords

I've got an idea they kinda are setting up a base on a far off edge of space planet as a "home" for repairs to there ship and to drop off the "normal people " they pick up.

Btw these guys are insane if it's not clear. If they come over a war between the orks and tau they'd think the emporer wants them to join in.

When the children came to this strange new world the first time they took report of the xeno life and took back to the void to only return after ever venture.
They took it as a sign of the emperor that this must be there's. So they took hold in the library and begone a slow war to fight the Necrons.
Soon the natives herd of the children and some went off to join them. Calling themselves the followers of the void.
Together the fought through the tomb world and ended the necron threat.
Now they continue the duty of venturing the void and returning to libecca V to resupply and prepare for the next trip. Ther followers acting alongside them.

Soon the inquisition herd romers of these Renegades taking and using imperium tech and rescuing people lost in the warp. So they sent them agents to check and follow the children of the void.
After a long search they finally met a team of them in burnt out space ship that just fell out the warp. The children in there non matching uniforms and the inquisition had a long talk. The children of the void team were deemed heretics and corrupted. hunted down by the gray knights and fought to the last man the team never got to relay the message to the rest of their battle brothers, the gray knight team took their servo skulls to gain intel on any bases or hideouts they may have out there.

If a member did fall. He'd be executed in a holly ceremony in the great Hall. In front of a tomb called the sleeping captain by the company champion. but there skulls won't be a servo. But instead ground down to a powder and cast into space.

The children of the void continue their self imposed mission without any idea the gray knights are looking for them. Still growing in all directions as for every man they lose they gain they gain a new number to the ever growing swarm of servo skulls maning there strike cruiser “the lost hand” as they continue to do their duty.

Most recently the children are stuck defending libecca V and her people in a war with the orks and death guard
