Who thinks Intercessors should be able to take a chainsword? Obviously you'd also have to buff Reivers but they also need buffed.

I mean you can give them an additional attack for 1CP. That's close to what you want.

Tacs don't get chainsowrds, so why should Intercessors?
Really I think chainswords should be available to Reivers, but also do more than just +1A. They should be either AP-1, or +1S.

Aside from RoC, what is the purpose of an intricately built mechanical chainsword, if it doesn't do anything more than a simple knife?

If Chainswords were +1S in addition to +1A, or AP-1 and +1A, and given to Reivers, Reivers would fill the "Assault Marine" role for Primaris much better

Because marines need something to make them less crap. What old marines have is quite irrelevant though.

Don’t forget, that chainswords are just cool, much cooler than a combat knife

With the current wounding system, +1S would just make them kill Marines even faster rather than helping them go through light infantry.

I'll be honest the first time I read that stratagem I thought it affected all intercessors. Got my book and saw it was a singular squad which made me sad.

I don't think it would have been game braking personally

If it did I would be tempted to run a Raven Guard Battalion to support my Deathwatch simply for the bullying effect. Granted they would still be so insignificant in offense compared to the Deathwatch ones but there ya go.

I think my friend would be fine with it since it was him I played when I used my melee reivers which have 3 attacks each and they did nothing to his breachers. I even asked him to not fall back cause I wanted to see what they could do. It wasn't a lot. The consensus between us is that reivers suck.

As far as intercessors getting chainswords, it's pretty moot unless you're fighting low saves or the chainswords have Ap. Reivers are proof that 3 S4 Ap- attacks are pretty meh

Not to add fuel to the fire, but Deathwatch Primaris Seargents can take chainswords. It seems to be a veteran thing.

You're a bit behind they redid the Intercessor profile so all Sargents can take them along with power swords, and fists. I think it's just the 3 weapons right now

Maybe change the rules for the Combat Knife to make the knife just as strong as an Aeldari Blade. That way, there's differentiation between it and the Chainsword - after all, CWE have the same choice. And since they're equal in points, it shouldn't require adjusting the Reiver's points!

(This is a joke. That'd be a nerf.)

Agreed, but they absolutely need to do something more in-game than a simple knife. Even if it is a massive Crocodile Dundee style knife

Good point. I think either AP-1 or even just +2Atk would be good then.

But to the OP, I disagree that they should be available to Intercessors (other than the Sgt). Intercessors are clearly not a melee centered unit.
Reivers, however, kinda do seem like that. So my suggestion for Marines as a whole is to give Chainsword something *in addition* to just +1Atk, then make them an option available to all Reivers.
So you could have a Primaris unit that could take a Combat knife for just +1Atk, or all Chainswords for +2Atk (or +1Atk Ap-1)

Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high

They seem to have chainsword options now on battlescribe since they are available as an option in kill team.

Because Crusader Squads do.

Hey, can we have Chainsword options for just Black Templars?

For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.

I still don't know why eviscerators aren't more available.

I don't play BT but I'd love to see crusader squads with them! Such a cool weapon with no love

A two handed chainsword now that's 40k! Bet you forgot they existed cause ONLY ASM can take them

Honestly, my Marine revamp would make Crusader squads a lot different than other units, bringing back something akin to the Chapter Tactic from 7th.
