I'm converting some storm shields using Lizardmen Saurus shields, saying they are the hides of some of the reptilian beasts on Nocturnes, but I want to know what color I should paint them.
Green, White or Black? Or even Redish?

Aren't the beasts white, and that's why the Chapter icon is white? Or are they green and that's why their armour is green?

Considering they literally live in Lava I would assume dark brown or black.

I would imagine they would be colored similarly to the environment, black, brown, tan.

The official photos of the models with drake hides (and the cover art showing drake hides) typically show them as dark brown to maroon, with a few showing them as very dark green.

Thanks for the feedback. We decided to go with Albino. It seems to contrast better with the green/black/gold of their armour and shouldn't conflict with any established coloration of Nocturne beasts.

Ooh! Albino drake sounds freaking awesome.

(That will probably look great, btw. I did this for my Salamander terminators and painted the lizardman shields green, and while they look good I don't think they contrast with the armor/basing enough.)

Thanx. I'm going with a "peach" colored base and dry-brushing up to the white. It should not only contract with the darker colors, but also add a bit more warmth to the model.
