I really like the rend and damage of the Bullgors with great axes and the rerolling 1s to hit in the Brass Despoilers. I can launch them with Bloodstokers and give one or two units +1 to wound with the Doombull in there. Got some mortal wound potential, and my Wrathmongers could give them an extra attack each.

But should I instead make a Skulltake battalion with the Skullreapers? They have good mortal wound potential too and some nice hit and wound bonus potential with their Trial of Skulls, plus they can attack if they die in melee, and be buffed by mortal heroes. Of course they could also get juiced up by Wrathmongers too.

Or is all the above crap compared to a Council of Blood with the 3 generic thirsters, and a couple Bloodstokers to egg them on? Then using all Flesh Hounds as battleliners, maybe with Karanak in there too? I really like the new plastic ones!

Can't decide what to focus on for the Blades of Khorne and not get my arse whooped over half the time.

Well first off when running Khorne Gore Pilgrims is auto-take. It gives you battleline and obligatory bloodsecrator, negates his main disadvantage (range of the buff), and negates the main disadvantage of slaughterpriests (unreliable prayer rolls). Flesh Hounds are actually a great choice but for summoning in rather than as part of the list.

I would add to Gore Pilgrims using Council of Blood with Skarbrand + WoK Thirster + Insensate Rage Thirster. WoK does run & charge (with +1 to them) while Insensate Rage gives charge re-rolls. Skarbrand may theoretically kill something, but really he is there because he takes choice away from your opponent; they HAVE to kill Skarbrand and you know it, so you know their strategy round 1 and potentially 2. Or they fail to realize that and Skarbrand just kills them, that's nice too.

The nice thing is you are getting free charge re-rolls from the insensate since the battalion lets him use his command ability point-free, you get one free run & charge from the WoK, and are starting with 3 points (1 normal + 2 from battalions) right off the bat so turn-1 charging with multiple thirsters is very possible, a good strategy to have up your sleeve if you get stuck with going first.

Road to Renown! It's like classic Path to Glory, but repaired, remastered, expanded! https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/778170.page

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

Ooh, you make excellent points. I thought I had a Bloodsecrator but I don't know where the heck it is. That's a crapload of points on battalions but the nice thing is I get 3 relics by doing that...
