From WarCom:

If you’re a fan of the Age of Darkness, we’ve got some great news for you – especially if you enjoy delivering death from the comfort of a Throne Mechanicum! The studio has produced some new rules to enable you to use both patterns of Armiger-class Imperial Knights as well as the towering Castellan and Valiant patterns of Dominus-class Knights in your games of the Horus Heresy. Cool huh?

After all, the Imperial Knights pre-date the Imperium and the tragic events of the Horus Heresy, so these mighty war machines would certainly have marched to war along with their fellow Knights. These new rules will enable you to do just that!

You can download the free rules PDFs by clicking on the icons below:

If you’re looking to reinforce your armies from the Horus Heresy with some Armiger Warglaives, Armiger Helverins, Knights Castellan and/or Knights Valiant, they’re all available to buy online and in stores now.

If I read the profiles right, the Armigers cannot take two Autocannons for the 40k "Helverin" Loadout, which seems rather strange.

On the other hand, Dominus can take duplicates of it's arm weapons. Makes me jealous that it's not an option in 40k, but I'm sure there's a 'balancing reason.'

Or who knows, the Forge World proper publication could remove both of these discrepancies.

I think it's just sloppy writing by FW - if they had intended to limit it to one arm they would have put "may exchange a single Dreadnought close combat weapon" rather than:
Any Questoris Knight Armiger may exchange either of its Dreadnought close combat weapons for one of
the following weapons:
- Armiger autocannon..........................................................................................................................................+15 points
- Armiger thermal spear......................................................................................................................................+10 points

But either way it's odd - either you can't have a 40k Helverin, or you can have an Armiger with two thermal spears...

Two Dreadnought close combat weapons*

Any Questoris Knight Armiger may exchange either of its Dreadnought close combat weapons for one of the following weapons:

I'm not sure if Forge World omitted a note somewhere on the datasheet for the *. That would probably answer the question if you could take two autocannons or two thermal spears. A very, very good load out would be dreadnought CCW/Autocannon/Melta for 205 points, then 180 for each additional Armiger in the squad. It's very interesting that the Heavy Stubber can take bio-corrosive rounds. That could be very good vs. admech, but against Legions? Not so much. Would love to see a Talon of three Armigers with nothing but DCCW.

They are priced the same as a Contemptor Dreadnought, but I think the Comtemptor is a better walker (WS/BS higher then Armiger, higher AV up front, more options) and could potentially benefit from Legion abilities. What makes the Armiger somewhat attractive is the +1 HP over the Contemptor, and that very attractive autocannon.

Forge World lists the unit as a Vehicle(Walker), but where is it in the Force Org chart? Super Heavy? Heavy? Elite? Are they only available to Questoris Knight Crusade lists?

I'm glad the rules for these guys are out in 30K, but they seem to raise a few questions.

I tend to take the second reading here; the wording on generic characters in 30k is "may trade either their (pistol) and/or chainsword for" upgraded weapons and writing "may trade either one DCCW and/or the other DCCW" would be kind of strange. And I don't think allowing two thermal spears is that weird given that the 30k Dominus loadouts are any mix of the four weapons including duplicates.

A Questoris Knight Armiger Talon may be taken as a non-compulsory Troops choice in a Questoris Knight Crusade Detachment. If taken in this Faction, it is subject to the Household Rank special rule, but may only select the Scion Auxilia Household Rank. Alternatively, a Questoris Knight Armiger Talon may be taken as a 0-1 Heavy Support choice in a Mechanicum Taghmata Detachment, but if it is taken in this way then the Questoris Knight Armiger Talon loses both the Household Rank and Implacable Advance special rules.

So Troops in a Questoris list, Heavy Support for Mechanicum Taghmata.

Ooooh. I might take my Imperial Knights back to the battlefields of the 31st millennium. They are painted in Terryn livery which was around during the Heresy.

Thought for the day: Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.
30k Ultramarines: 2000 pts
Bolt Action Germans: ~1200 pts

Those dominus rules are hilariously terrible. From "most overpowered thing ever" in 8th to unplayable trash in 30k.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Oh my god the Dominus is horrible.

1) Shieldbreaker missile.. wooow... AP3... so you can pretty unreliably put a hull point on a leviathan dreadnought....

2) the plasma canon.. 1 large blasts strengt 8... decent...

3) The Volcano lance... a small blast lascanon...

4) The flamer.. pretty good! Acheron styled

5) The harpoon. Fun... but not thaaat good.. better then volcano lance at least.

But the biggest dent in the armor is.

Siegebreaker turrets.... twin linket lascanons.. what the.... make it small blast at least! :O

I cannot see any scenario where my Dominus will fight in Horus heresy, neither will my warglaives unless i have points to spare.

The Armiger is useable at least....

The greatest disease is life!

Wouldn't a combination of plasma/flamer (either one of each or two of the same) with the turrets be quite usable?

Not even lascannons, they're twin autocannons.
