Hello All,

Here are photos of my latest works. OOP Metal Warhammer Fantasy Battles Tomb Kings - Tomb King and High Queen Khalida Neferher.

The models are from 2002 and sadly are no longer made. I was going to make a Tomb Kings army many years ago when they first came out but never got around to it. I sold off all of the Tomb Kings models except these two. The have been sitting in a box assembled and primed for years. I was digging around and found them last week and decided it was time for them to be painted up.

I removed the flat tag on bottom of the models and pinned them so I could get a better looking base than using the old slotta bases. Never really cared for the old slotta bases. There was always a gap around the edges and getting the sand around the feet was always a pain. It is just easier to cut off the slotta tag and pin the feet.

On the Tomb King I went with a Blue and Gold look with a bronze-ish sword. I painted his headress to match up with the Gold headed Vulture on his shield. It was an ok model to work on. I enjoyed painting the High Queen more.

On High queen Khalida Neferher I went with a Deep Teal and Gold look. I wanted her headress to look like a single piece of Gold and her mask to look like cracked porcelain. I painted her left eye glowing blue and left her masked eye dark. I went with a Gold golden staff that was changing into an Asp snake using dark browns for all four snakes. The bandages turned out darker than I had anticipated but they do look ancient and rotting. Used Bone and white colors where her bones are showing through the bandages and with her fingers and toes where the skin has rotted off.. Placed her on a small ridge so that her cape could stick out a little more. Like it is blowing in the wind.

Both model are currently up for auction on eBay if anybody is interested in them. Here is the link to the auctions. https://www.ebay.com/sch/dman89/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=50&_sop=1

Thank you for looking I hope you like my work.

Thank you for the compliment.

I wish that GW had not gotten rid of them, especially after they made some of the plastic kits near the end.

It is really good.

I wish they brought back that army range.

Beautiful paintwork. Easily the biggest loss of the Old World. Also, nice to know that those are both worth their weight in gold now.

Thank you. I wish they would bring it back too. Some spiffy new plastic Tomb king Character models would be great.

Thanks for the compliment. Agreed, it was a cool army to see fielded. I wish you were right about them being worth their weight in gold. We'll see.

That paint job looks great, I really like the King's shield. Tomb Kings were the one army I wish I'd got into when I was playing a lot of Warhammer because I loved the models. Such a shame they were gotten rid of.

One and a half feet in the hobby

Thank you, I took my time to blend some of the colors on the shield. It is too bad they got rid of them. Imagine what they could do with them now. With all the advances they have made with the plastic models. They could really go to town with a real "Raiders of the Lost Ark" look to that sarcophagus. With spirits flying out of it in all directions. But, that would be something people would like to see. So, no it won't happen. Sad.

Thank you, I appreciate it. I guess I am old school about painting. Going clean with them.
