Brass Collar of Borghaster
The bearer of the Brass Collar of Borghaster can attempt to deny one psychic power in each enemy Psychic phase. If this model makes a successful Deny the Witch test, the psyker that was attempting to manifest the power immediately suffers Perils of the Warp.

Scorn of Sorcery (1CP): When an
enemy psyker manifests a psyhic power within 24" of a friendly World Eaters unit. Roll a D6; on a 4+, the effects of that psychic power are negated.

At my last game I argued that i could use the Brass collar of Borghaster to attempt to deny the which and instead of rolling i could use scorn of sorcery instead and if I rolled a 4+ his power would be negated and ontop his psyker would peril but he argued that as scorn of sorcery didn't have deny the witch in the wording that they were done differently and didn't interact and that i may either use one or the other and unless it's in an FAQ he won't believe it.

on a slight side point I read a review where they mention that you could use the collar first and then if you failed you could use scorn of sorcery and if it either passed the psker would peril.
So i was wondering what peoples thoughts on the Interaction between Collar of Bhorgaster & scorn of sorcery if any.

Editspam: Dern you GW and your poor writing.

You can attempt to deny via the Brass Collar, and you can use the Scorn of Sorcery. They both happen at the same time, after step 2 of the Psychic phase, when the enemy psyker has successfully manifested a psychic power by passing a psychic test.

If you don't deny it with the Brass Collar, but negate it with the Scorn of Sorcery, the enemy psyker will not perils. This is because the enemy only perils if the Deny is successful via the Brass Collar, the Scorn stratagem doesn't have anything to do with the Brass Collar.

You only get the Perils benefit of the Brass Collar if the bearer makes a successful Deny the Witch test.

Scorn of Sorcery is not a "Deny the Witch" test, nor does it call out a model to perform the check.

So no, using the stratagem successfully would not cause Perils of the Warp.

I agree on what has been said.

So you can use both collar and scorn on the same cast because one tries to deny manifestation and the other happens after manifestation?

Yes.

You can do both. But if you negate it with Scorn then it wasn't Denied so you can't get the extra effect from the Collar.

Also, assuming it's the opponent's Psychic phase (which is would be), as these effects have the same trigger the opponent chooses what order to resolve them. So they can make you use Scorn first to make the chance of them suffering the Perils effect lower.
