Hi all,

here is the finished rhino i used to practise using the airbrush i got for xmas. Never picked up an airbrush before and learned a lot of what not to do when airbrushing when i was painting this tank.

Had some feedback i need a brighter light source at the centre of the headlights so might go and attempt that at a later date.

C+C welcome

Paul

The chassis looks good, the metals are too... shiny for me. I like washing my metals with nuln oil then agrax earthshade; makes them look more realistic. Good work though!

Nice shading on the chassis. I normally go lighter colors to the edge of the plates instead of the inverse like you have though, so I can use the highlight color to do edge highlights as well, and it looks cool IMO.

You're right about the headlights, you've done the glow effect but need to just paint the light itself a brighter shade of the glow effect.

Did you just airbrush the blue parts, or anything else?

What were your "lessons learned"?

Greetings, Looking sharp! Your airbrush work looks smooth!

It is cool that You added Forge World doors! They look so cool!

It is nice that You added spikey bitz trophy racks to define it as a chaos space marine vehicle! I am a fan of that ram You chose! There are two ram choices I believe, they dangerously pointy one looks more sinister!

Looks great with decals added!

Thank you all for your kind comments

This really was just a test vehicle for me to try out airbrushing, so only the blue parts have been airbrushed.

My personal lessons learned

Only the blue was painted using the airbrush, the rest was by hand.

My personal lesson's learned were;

  • Getting the right thinness of paint is crucial

  • Use the right PSI

  • Correcting mistakes is hard

  • Pre mix in a shot glass before adding it to the airbursh cup, tried mixing directly in the cup and i'm not experienced enough for that

  • have a test piece of paper to test the brush before putting onto the miniature

  • Use a bit of card to do give you a clean edge highlight (didn't do this on this model)

  • I tried to pre shade the model but it didn't really work, i need to put the colours down in thinner layers

  • All in all was a fun learning process and can definitely see the speed benefits of using an airbrush, now i need to learn how to paint infantry using an airbrush and try some finer detail work
