Any world of tanks players out there? My friend finally convinced me to check it out last November. Now three months later and I'm so hooked, I play for about an 1 hour per day. I just got my first Tier X about a week ago, the Japanese Type 5 Heavy Tank and I love it, it's a freaking land battleship!

I dip in and out - every time I start enjoying myself I either end up with a team of idiots or get abusive messages after the game.

I tend to just ignore the messages. I see them about 1 every couple of days and sometimes they're good for a laugh or two.

I've been working my way up the T29 route hoping to get my second TX by the end of February.

The bad part is, I really, really like the T29 and I don't want to move on to the T32 yet due to the decrease in mobility. :(

The T32 is rough because you use the exact same gun as the T29 yet see tier 10.

I just picked up the JE100 and unlocked the IS-7. Still currently grinding out a whole slew of tier 9 and 10 at the same time.

Heh. I've played it on the Xbox since the beta. Many hours running itwith my brother. Hugely entertaining and yet amazingly annoying at the same time. While I love driving the tanks, the game has the worst matchmaking algorithm ever devised.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

I started a few weeks ago. Been slogging through the American Mediums, so glad I'm out of the fricking Lee finally.

WoT is a lot more confusing than World of Warships. The interface and how you do the missions is so frustrating. And the missions are just... Its tough to get 6 damaging hits in a single game with a M4A3E8 Sherman when you keep getting stuffed into Tier8 matches where you'll just get one shot as soon as you get spotted. At least in WoW I can take a few hits.

Yup.

The really frustrating thing is that it seems like 90% of the time I get stuffed on a team of terrible players. Such that my team completely folds within a couple minutes. Shouldn't it still be roughly half the time you're on the winning side even if you contribute nothing? And why is it so rare for my Tier6 tank to get put in a match where Tier6 is the highest? When I was playing my tier4 I would get stuffed into tier6 matches ALL THE FREAKING TIME!!! Did those games just evaporate once I made it up to the next tier?

World of Warships definitely has a much superior and balanced matchmaking. Its like World of Tanks puts poor record players together on one team and good record players on the other.

I feel like the missions are geared towards players with tier 8 thru 10 tanks. Some of them can be done in lower tier tanks but a large majority are really only going to work in tier 8 thru 10.

I also try not to play towards the missions. I pick a tank i know can do the mission and play normally.

It's amazing how much more frustrating and unbalanced World of Tanks is compared to World of Warships considering

a) they're made by the same company

and

b) Tanks is the older of the two.

Gold ammo is just the tip of the iceberg.

I used to play it in the PC from 2015 to 2018, and while it could have been a fantastic game, the developers continue to make more mistakes than good ideas.

A shame really, but overpowered Soviet vehicles, trash map design that forces certain tank types and the ludicrous +/-25% RNG to shots means it falls down too much.

I'm a long time xbox player of the game but I'm taking a bit of a break as I'm slightly burnt out after so many years. Togusa, what platform are you playing it on? (PC, Xbos, PS4)

World of Tanks is a game I desperately want to love, but whose model, design, and pitfalls are so glaringly bad that I just can't enjoy it enough to make up for how frustrating it is.

That's bizarre, I never seem to have any troubles with it. Been enjoying it for a while now and I'm a little sad I didn't give it a go years ago!

Play it on the Xbox on and off for a few years. I like diving the tanks to look at them but gameplay wise I get bored of the endless grind.

Nothing scratches the vehicle combat itch like battlefield 3/4 used too. Saying that though armoured warfare can be fun if you like your armour more up to date.

I played World of Tanks for years on X-Box, loved it but eventually got tired of it. I'm really not a fan of the +2/-2 tier matchmaking, I think +1/-1 would be so much better. Fighting 2 tiers above you always makes me feel so pillow fisted. At the moment I prefer World of Warships, it's a lot of fun.

Aye. At least in warships you can contribute vs 2 tiers above you.

I watched Circonflexes for the last bit of time I played and he repeatedly outlined all my grievances with the game, namely that +2/-2 MM is awful especially with the 3/5/7 system--which I gather IS being changed at some point--but also that power creep is in overdrive especially when it comes to premium tanks; there are too many tanks with tiny weakspots that require precision aiming in a game where RNG can easily account for as much as skill, or have no viable weakspots at all for their tier; and many players aren't interested in team-play.

Wargaming have outlined plans to significantly improve some aspects of the game, like altering the MM so it's not quite as bad, but still +2/-2, rebalancing skill ammo, completely hiding names etc. so you don't get people with stats overlays yelling "NOOB TEAM WE LOSE" and drowning themselves within the first ten seconds of the match or otherwise being disruptive. If and when improvements are implemented I might go back, but until then it's simply not fun, even with friends. I'm also not really one for beelining a high tier tank at a time, because playing the same vehicle all day for days is the definition of tedious even without RNG and MM issues, but it's the only reliable way of breaking into the higher tiers. Consequently, I have one tier 7, a good few tier 6s, a buttload of tier 5s, a large handful of tier 4s, and the odd tier 3 in my garage.

Unfortunately, the tier 7 is the Sturer Emil, which requires you to buy the upgraded gun in order to contribute anything meaningful which is also horribly expensive, so there was an issue where playing the Emil enough to buy it would drive me insane, but playing other tanks enough to grind free exp for it would be just as annoying.

In the end I found myself playing an hour or two and coming out of nearly every battle in a foul mood, ruining my evenings and not helping my mental health, so I made the executive decision to stop playing. The sheer amount of awful battles were not made up for by the occasional one that was enjoyably close-fought or required actual skill and tactics. Games where you got teamwork, for example, were great fun, especially if you got one of the 0.1% of polite and/or encouraging players instead of the toxic randos that plagued every other match. They were just far too few and far between.

EDIT: And yeah, despite the fact I couldn't get into Warships, I actually felt I could do something at all times, if only I didn't suck so much. No doubt I suck a fair bit at WoT, too, but with WoWs I knew when things were my fault far, far more easily than WoT.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Started to play in 2011. Currently, dropped it since the game gives too many negative emotions. Although they introduced a new balancer, in fact you know in the first seconds that the round lost. When tanking tanks go to hide in the bushes. And the bushes became few and the Tank hunters had no place to hide. Light tanks are hiding in the rear or even trying to drown its own artillery. When all go on one of the two paths and the enemy breaks through and you loose. Or even if you win, you do not get experience and money because you did not have speed to do anything. Or are you going to a heavily armored tank and all enemies damage you right into the forehead, because they bought gold shells. And many, many, many other situations where you can not do anything.
