Hello!

I've decided to try my hand at home-brewing my new Primaris force. CnC welcome! Basically I've envisioned my own army over the last few months drawn together from models I either own, or plan to own. I wanted to give them their own story!

The Dawnstriders are an unknown founding of Primaris only Space Marines under the command of a council of five Captains, all veterans of the Indomitus Crusade. Operating primarily in Segmentum Pacificus, they are a fleet based chapter, and travel with a hodgepodge of other imperial forces, including a contingent of the Imperial Navy, the Tempestus Scions, and a Tech Priest of the Cult Mechanicus. Compared to other Space Marine chapters, the Dawnstriders are a little, odd. They are absolute fanatics when it comes to fighting against the enemies of the Imperium, turning down no request for help so long as they have the forces needed to respond to a threat. When compared to most Astartes chapters, they tend to hold themselves to a different standard. Always putting the lives of the populace of a planet above their own, refusing to leave a fallen comrade (or his or her body) behind. They are strongly anti-psyker, and have been known to exile any perspective marine who shows any outward or inward sign of warp sensitivity.

What we know:

1. The Dawnstriders are ruled by a council of Captains, with each of the five officers sharing the responsibilities of command equally. The ruling council is referred to as the "Knights of the Dawn" and they are responsible for all decisions of any great or small importance. They operated out of a single battlebarge called "Dawn's Light" and a recently "appropriated" Hunter Class Destroyer called the "The Watchful Eye."
2. Lord Admiral Theodore Vladishkov, commands the small Imperial Naval fleet, Battlefleet: Taurus which consists of a single Apocalypse Class Battleship "The Light Eternal", and a single Nemesis Class Fleet Carrier "The Castigator." There are three Claymore Class Corvettes "The Shieldwall", "The Night's Edge" and "the Solarie." Lord Admiral Theodore Vladishkov is one of three "advisers" who sit with the Knights of the Dawn and offer advice related to their immediate expertise. Thought these three advisers have almost no power, they're advice and input is often sought as the Council makes decisions for the fleet.
3. The Fleet is accompanied by a single Ark Mechanicus, commanded by an enigmatic Tech Priest known as Dras Velore. Dras is operating in this region hunting for elusive STC data and has offered his services to the Dawnstriders in exchange for protection and the rights to scour worlds after the Chapters battles have ended for new technology for the Machine God.
4. Under the command of Lady Adrid Sorin, 800 Imperial Tempestus Scions known only as Adrid's Raiders also operate with the fleet from a Defiant Class Light Cruiser "The Dawn Hunter."
5. Kill Team "Mastadon" under the command of captain Dzoldzaya formerly of the White Scars are based within the fleet and provide expertise in combat against both the Dark Eldar, the Harlequins, and the Necrons in exchange for using the Dawn's Light as a base to launch their own missions in this sector of the galaxy.

The Dawnstriders are a smaller chapter than usual, with their rank numbering less than 700 Marines. It is thought that they have a semi-permanent port somewhere in the Chiros system, though attempts to confirm this by administratum representatives has so far been met with little success.

One of the most odd things about this chapter is their belief in Honorable death. As a chapter they have a fervent distrust of Dreadnought Armor, and fanatically will kill their own wounded rather than see them re-purposed into a dreadnought suit, believing that the suit will corrupt the soul and prevent the victim from ever joining the Emperor in the afterlife.

As a chapter that is primarily infantry based, the breakdown is as follows.

Knights of the Dawn (Five captains elected by the chapter to lead for a period of 100 years)
Knight of the Soul (A supreme Chaplin of the chapter, serving in this capacity until his death, chosen by the KoTD)
Knight of the Body (Chief Apothecary of the Chapter, appointed by the KoTD)

1st Company: Brother Captain Maximus Corlen [Vetern Company]
-5 Veteran squads [Intercessors] 'The Proven"
-5 Veteran squads [Reivers] "The Night Hunters"

2nd Company: Brother Captain Drathan Moxes [Battle Company]
-10 Intercessor Squads
-5 Hellblaster Squads

3rd Company: Brother Captain Tolarian Ventris [Support Company]
-5 Aggressor Squads
-5 Hellblaster Squads
-5 Intercessor Sniper Squads
4th Company: Unknown (classified)
5th Company: Unknown (classified)
6th Company: Brother Captain D'Marco [Recon Company]
-10 Reiver Squads
-5 Inceptor Squads

7th Company: Brother Tellius [Tech Marine] [Armored Company]
-30 Repulsor Tanks [Chapters entire contingent]
-10 Predator Tanks

8th Company: Brother T'uran Lassian [Tech Marine] [Attack Company]
-10 Xiphon Pattern Interceptors
9th Company: Classified
10th Company: Captain Mordrid [Scout Company]
-10 Scout Squads

The Dawnstriders prefer to draw new recruits from the worlds they visit as they travel the void in search of places their aid can be of the most use. As such, marines of this chapter often share little in common outside of being marines.

The Scheme for this army with be a standard OD green, similar to the modern military styles we see today.

The chapter prefers to use less direct tactics due to their small nature, and tend to employ surveillance, hit and run tactics, demolitions, reconnaissance, sabotage, assassination, and insurgency as tools as opposed to direct assaults and massed offenses. Instead, they rely on the Tempestus regiments to provide security, and reinforcement of battered worlds defense forces. The chapter has poor relationships with most other space marine chapters, with a couple of notable exceptions, The White Scars, and the Death Watch.
I still need to do some more work, and I'm waiting to see what else the primaris line of models will have before reorganizing the companies.

Thoughts, opinions and such are always welcome!

There are three Claymore Class Corvettes "The Shieldwall", "The Night's Edge" and "the Solarie." The remainder of the fleet is composed of a dozen small scale craft, from transports and light cruisers to planetary assault craft. Theodore also commands a garrioson of eleven thousand imperial guardsmen, some of whom claim service on Cadia during the 13th Black Crusade. Lord Admiral Theodore Vladishkov is one of three "advisers" who sit with the Knights of the Dawn and offer advice related to their immediate expertise. Thought these three advisers have almost no power, they're advice and input is often sought as the Council makes decisions for the fleet.

6. Occasionally the fleet is supplied with information and rarely support from a Rouge Trader, Voth (no given name) in exchange for resupply as he carves his way throughout Segmentum Pacificus.
7. A single detachment of Adeptus Soraritas serve in the fleet from an unknown order, rescued by Admiral Vladishkov on a desolate world during a small deamonic incursion which saw 9/10ths of the Order slain by the followers of Slannesh.
