First article for the Republic is up!

Insert title card here when I find it.

Point of interest on the purple evade;
"The Delta-7 Aethersprite can make even an anonymous Jedi Knight’s Force powers more pronounced, allowing them to perform actions that would be impossible for other pilots. Already capable of a wide range of actions, the Delta-7’s Jedi pilots can spend a Force charge to perform a new purple evade action. Better yet, the Delta-7’s Fine-Tuned Controls give them the power to spend a Force charge to perform a boost or barrel roll action after they fully execute a maneuver."

Mine (and many others reading of that) is that the purple actions are a normal action action that requires a force to use (ie. not a free action) which makes the evade here rather pointless. Although I am sure it will make Peregrine want to hunt me down like the dog I am, I am really excited for this faction and hope for an ETA2 sooner rather than later.

Wonder if Saesee Tiin's ability works on dials revealed via informant, sense or Snoke?

No they wont, "Reveal Dial" is a thing that happens in the Activation phase, the wording on those upgrades is a variation on "flip dial face up". It would be good if it did though.

Oh look, prequel trash. Fortunately most of this stuff seems unplayably bad unless it's priced extremely aggressively and you can fly a jedi swarm. Short of that kind of balance mistake I'm amazed that someone at FFG looked at these ships and said "yep, this seems right".

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

I wish I had placed a bet on your first line! Yeah not keen on the torrent at all but really hoping that the Delta will be priced well enough that a squadron of a couple of them and a couple of Arcs will be playable.

Incidentally Peregrine, are you going to a System Open this year? I am Adepticon (and Sydney) and would be keen for a game if you are about.

Oddball seems nice depending on what kind of ordinance he can take and ship cost. Reminds me of the 1.0 Dalan Oberos on the Kimogila (who should have been a 5, with Torani a 6 in 2.0 *grumbles*)

Just not feeling it. I'm by no means a Prequel fan, but I somehow wanted the Republic to have some nice force users.

For some reason, all I can see is a worse Protectorate Fighter. There has to be something more to it.

I disagree there Mathieu (though I actively dislike the prequels but like the ships!) about the D7 being a worse protectorate, it has the same range of Int pilots but the force mechanic allows for it to be able to modify its dice far more than the Fang with out being tied to actions. Also on the actions side it has the opportunity for double repositioning which is a rare thing in v2. It will come down to cost I am sure but I6 Anakin with a horde of force charges and actions I would pit against Fenn with confidence. Also worth bearing in mind that the ship has an astro slot so can have limited regen/repair or the option to turn all basic maneuvers speed 1-2 blue, giving it one of the bluest dials in the game.

Second article;

I forsee a lot of spare parts and trick shots in the future! FFG are really trying to hammer the fair ships republic archetype but I am more keen to try them out as aces, going to have to see how the Arc shapes up but Battle Meditation looks very handy, crying shame its faction locked as I would love to use that on Assaj.

This makes me excited. I will almost always use this card on my Jedi Starfighters, expect for pilots dedicated to buffing allies.

Me too, I am hoping that points will allow for two dedicated proton Arcs, one light D7 (probably Obi) with battle meditation and one D7B for flanking and smashing things in the face.

I imagine that would be like building a Rebel list with 2 Proton Arcs and 2 named A-Wings, which is totally doable.

Yeah that was my thinking, 50pts or so for mid tier generic Arc loaded out, 30-40 for the light version D7 and 60-70 for the D7B. Really worried that the D7B is going to be massively overcosted though, Luke in an X-wing (probably the most comparable chassis) is 62 with one less force than either Mace or Obi.

A Jedi aces list is going to be terrified of one thing: blockers. Like, sure, you can use your Force tokens for the basic effect, but it's far from being the optimal use for it.

Yay CIS!!!!

I think they will be more reasonably costed since the Force is one of the main shticks for the Republic. Also the smaller number of ships available for the faction means the potential for unintentionally degenerate combos occurring is far less likely (compared to the Empire and the Rebellion).

Yeah blockers are going to be the bane of D7s, ironic that the lower Init. pilots are actually going to be better for dodging blocks with their cheaper SR price!

I admire your optimism! I will remain sceptical until after both release and their first points adjustment (Which is going to be Julyish I presume, right before System Open).
