Hey guys,

In may my FLG will host a casual tournament with one general rule: Singleton.
This means the following: No unit/model can be duplicated for the exception of troop choices. Transports can be taken more than once if you have filled every troop slot. No unit can include more than one model if a model contains more than 5 wounds.
Forgeworld and Lords of War will not be allowed, and you army must be made out of one codex and one chapter/legion/… The armylist will be 1500 pts.

I have tried to make a list for this and came up with something that might work.

This list will give me a good matchup against horde/elite units/tanks.
I know I have taken Entropy cannons on my PBC instead of spitters but I felt like I was laking some AT.

We will be playing the new Chapter Approved missions with fixed deployment zones.

I was thinking of switching out the hellbrute for a Myphitic Blight haulers because of the Plague marines.

The helbrute can put out more firepower with greater accuracy than the blight hauler, although it's less durable and not as nippy. Might be worth the cover benefit to the plague marines, but it's damage output is not as good.

I'd suggest making your chaos lord the warlord, giving him Arch Contaminator - so as to buff the plague marines with blight launchers and the PBC - this also makes it harder for your opponent to get slay the warlord, and means you can throw in your DP without worry.

I'd also never leave home without someone with Blades of Putrefaction - would help the Blightlords massively.

Ah hell, I'm a fan of all seven.
But right now, I'm gonna have to go with wrath.

Thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it.

About the hellbrute and the Blight Hauler I was thinking the same. The Hellbrute has way more fire output and better accuracy indeed. But it feels like he’s so squishy, i can move the hellbrute without penalty and hide him in terrain so I get a cover save and still able to shoot at something but still. The Blight Hauler will move forward anyway with the plague marines and will be in range eventually to fire his Melta. I’m still playtesting and yesterday I played the Hauler vs Astra Militarum and I must say they don’t target it because it’s durable and they have other threats to worry about. The opponent will mainly focus my Bloat Drone first since it’s a beast in Melee and my DP will accompany him. They don’t see the Hauler as something dangerous while they do see the Hellbrute as a good fire base. On turn 2 i was able to shoot with my Hauler and cripple a Hydra.

I understand the reasoning behind making my Chaos Lord my Warlord. He won’t be in any danger but I feel like the Death Guard Warlord Traits are wasted on him. Sure Arch-contaminator is good. But the Lord will stay near my plasma marines for overcharging and my Blight Hauler, plus he’s in the Rhino aswell.

I think I don’t have enough plague weapons to benefit from it? What do you think? I could park him with my PBC with arch-contaminator for sure (giving rerolls of one’s and reroll all failed wounds on his Mortar). Also, I don’t rush my DP forward. I and move him together with my drone and wait for a good opportunity along the flank.

I do agree on Blades of Putrification. Normally my sorcerer has Plague Wind (if I’m facing horde) or Curse of the Leper and Putricent Vitality. But I think Blades might be better. Even if it’s only for my Termies. Just have to keep him near them. Hell, it even works on my marines with their plague knives.

That's a really good point about the blight hauler - perhaps one would be worth it? After all, having good fire power is useless if you don't live to use it - and yeah helbrutes do tend to get focused down for this reason.

As for the warlord, you're probably right in that you don't have enough plague weapons to make Arch-Contaminator worth it - I'm just saying tactically it makes sense not to throw your Warlord in. Even if you flank with the DP he's still more exposed and therefore vulnerable, but fluff-wise it makes sense that he should be your warlord (and as you say the traits only make him more durable!)

I've never had any luck with Plague Wind - I prefer to clean out hordes with the Blightlords' firepower - and then chucking Blades on them really makes them a fearsome prospect (especially when combined with Vets of the Long War, meaning mortal wounds on 5+).

Good luck for the tourney! Sounds like a lot of fun!

Thanks man I will! And yeah the Blightlords do good work vs horde infantry . The plaguewind is there to have an extra punch vs 30 ork boys or 30 termagaunts or conscripts. If I only face squads of 10 models max I take Curse of the Leper .
