For fun this list will work well, most things in it are effective and it'll win you a few games.

If you want to make it more competitive you should drop the heldrakes. Unfortunately anyone who is a decent player will wrap units you want to charge and they'll spend a turn charging chaff before they get taken off the board.

With the points either:

Get yourself a leviathan dreadnought with double BCA and a chaos lord and make all your hellbrutes and dreadnoughts alpha legion as they'll benifit from the legion trait.

Or

Get 3x10 more cultists 3x chaos spawn and a MVB and make a brigade for the extra command points.

So I dont have the cash for the levi, got some sweet proxies for my deredeos though, do you think this list would be a bit more competitive? I'm not sure how people feel about oblits? Dere dreads are in the spearhead, just hard to display on scribe. Spearhead slaanesh for double shoot oblits.

I used to run oblits all the time, they're great (espcially with mark of slanesh, VotLW and prescience) but I now play demons and 1kSons so they had to go.

It's still good although I like using Ahriman and SOT but that may be personal taste. You could drop a little heavy firepower to bring them back, maybe drop the havocs and one unit of oblits?

I run Ahriman and 10 SOT in my tourney list and they seem to do well at holding the middle of the board and with the beta bolter rule picking up a suprising ammount of wounds on GEQ, MEQ and even light vehicles with VotLW. Can easily kill off 30 boyz a turn with a few buffs.

You could always run both lists with heavy proxies and see which fits your playstyle best?

I was originally thinking about a 20 man squad of rubrics with ahriman to try and dodge multi would shot sadness. I'd miss out on one turn of double shots unless something is withinn 12 but I can use webway for 1 cp and have them come in turn 2 if I want after I crystal the tzaangors turn 1 to form a buffer?

The multi wound sadness is real, I lost 5 vs a talons dp this week. But that was bad luck and bad positioning on my behalf. If you can stick em in cover and cast glamour on them they're only losing one against the dreaded avenger gatling cannon. So if I find cover in the centre of the board that's where I stick em. Still not sold on rubrics, tzaangors or cheap cultists for me.
