Mine would be an Inquisitor game with gameplay and narrative structure based on the KOTOR games, as well as other old school RPGs like Baldur's Gate II and Neverwinter Nights. Here's the pitch -

You start out as a fresh young Inquisitor, sent into the deepest depth of a hive to uncover the origin of heretical rumours. The journey you take will take you from the dive bars and drug dens of the slums, all the way to the rich exclusive quarters of the old town, every step of the way discovering side-quests and hidden stories. You can customise your character any number of ways, specializing in melee combat, ranged combat, psychic abilities, charisma (why get your own hands dirty when you can get someone else to do it instead...), or a combination of these. Meeting companions along the way, many of which will have their own agendas and priorities, you will face decisions that could well lead you on the path to heresy, unlocking powerful new abilities, but also potentially the attention of fellow inquisitors.

The 40k universe has such a wide scope for this sort of story. There's a plethora of equipment available, including custom crafting your own equipment, plenty of bad guys to kill, plus magic, plus a clear pure/heretical moral spectrum. It's a shame no one has yet picked up the licence to make such a game.

A few of mine:

BF4 multiplayer engine/style done in 40k.
Fallout 3/4 single player starting out as a grunt guardsman and working your way up the ranks.
Space Marine 2 (why hasnt that heppened yet?).
DoW 4 based on DoW2 (still the best in the series).

I always thought there was a lot of potential for a first/third person assassination game, half-way between AvP and hitman, with the option to take any of the four temples to any given mission.

It would be a mix of Armageddon and Dark Crusade and it would be set on Vraks.

Like a strategy/tactical SRPG, something turn-based.
Like Valkyria Chronicles/Xcom/FireEmblem. Small/Moderate number of units with permadeath.
Actual characters as units, not generics.

Campaigns for several factions. Or maybe it's Rogue Trader centered so you could have one story but still get to play some Xenos.

As far a ideal 40k spinoff video game...

I'd like an RTS, but based off of Blitzkrieg II, as opposed to the way it's been done with Dawn of War

Guardsmen, hear me! Cadia may lie in ruin, but her proud people do not! For each brother and sister who gave their lives to Him as martyrs, we will reap a vengeance fiftyfold! Cadia may be no more, but will never be forgotten; our foes shall tremble in fear at the name, for their doom shall come from the barrels of Cadian guns, fired by Cadian hands! Forward, for vengeance and retribution, in His name and the names of our fallen comrades!

More content for Mechanicus (https://www.mechanicus40k.com)?

It's a great game. First one to really capture the weirdness of the grim dark. Art and story are both amazing. The game was a bit easy at release but they've rebalanced it and the nonlinear free choice quest system means you need to play it through a good few times to get all the content. They've already release a bunch of extra mission, but I'm really hoping they do more. If you want narrative/story driven 40k with rich and interesting characters its the best 40k game yet.

Dawn of War: Soulstorm, except good. And with bigger battles.

And all the factions.

And a larger, more involved, Total War-style campaign map.

1. A 3rd person horror shooter kinda like Dead Space or the new RE2 remake where you play as a guardsman.

2. Like someone else mentioned, a turn-based SRPG similar to Xcom or Valkyria Chronicles.

3. Literally anything with actual polish and effort and care behind it, unlike most of the cheap-looking and feeling 40k games that come out these days.

[3300 pts] Thousand Sons

I love games with a lot of data managment, so maybe a scaling ad mecha outpost simulator. You start as some low level magos overseeing a mine on an asteroid belt and ending with a control of a factorium.

If you have to kill, then kill in the best manner. If you slaughter, then slaughter in the best manner. Let one of you sharpen his knife so his animal feels no pain.

I would love a version of Pandemic set in 40k universe. That would be fun. I don't know if I have a dream game though, because I've played just SO MANY awesome 40k games already, I feel like them all existing is already my dream. I love:

- Forbidden Stars
- Horus Heresy
- Gladius
- Space Hulk (the new)
- Space Hulk (the retro classic)
- Space Hulk (the board game it's all based on)
- Space Marine
- Dawn of War
- Dawn of War 2 (the story is wonderful)
- Horus Heresy Legions (the mobile ccg)

These are all just wonderful times.

The Mechanicus game concept, but with Tempestus Scions instead of Cog Boys.

I was actually just thinking 40k is perfect for an MMORPG .. You've got all the races, classes, various armours/ weapons and 'magic'. A mix of WoW and Destiny.

Loads of inspiration for enemies, dungeons/raids.. Etc.

I'd play a video game or a tabletop game based on the Age of Apostasy, from Vandire's siege of Holy Terra, through the Custodes intervention, right up until Alicia Dominica ends it all when she takes the traitor's head.

I would prefer tabletop because of the models- brides/ daughters of the Emperor, Vandire, and most importantly, the Emperor himself. I picture five tables arranged in a cross; the entire center table would be the palace, with the golden throne at the center. The other tables would be more conventional battlefields, but they would be pretty well fortified.

The defenders- space marines and guard- are trying to kill waves of brides and fend off orbital bombardment and heavy artillery fire. Dominica and Katherine would be fallen angels, cutting a ragged swath of destruction through massed gunlines and sundering loyalist tanks like paper. Flying transports would shuttle loyalist units from table to table. Two teams of two players at each of the outside tables playing simultaneously. The Custodes kilt teams deploy from the center table and try to make base contact with Alicia Dominica; until this happens, they are treated as enemies by the brides and the traitor legions.

Once contact is made, both Alicia and Katherine cease attacking and are escorted through enemy lines; the rest of the Brides and the Traitor legions continue to fight on as normal. Vandire himself would make planetfall to fill the leadership vaccum.

When Alicia and Katherine hit the center table, battle from the outside tables pauses while the party makes their way to the golden throne. During this phase of the game, the center table itself is illuminated with gloomy gothic LED sconces; lights in the gaming room turned out so that the table is the only light source. The party would be facing traps and automated defenses, with the Custodes rolling randomly to determine whether or not they can deactivate. This is more cinematic than actual, competitive gaming. Once they reach the golden throne, action on the center table ends, the lights are restored. Probably either a dinner break, or a day one end.

Battle resumes on the outside tables, with Alicia and Katherine rolling to join as reinforcements every turn, with decreasing target numbers to deploy. When they succeed, they deploy on their outside table of choice. The main armies would continue to clash until Alicia makes base contact with Vandire.

At that point, the final melee ends the age of Apostasy.

arpg like diablo, with vast amount of classes, tons of customisation, and mmo style multi-player instances, like refining the Marvel Heroes style levels.

P.S.A. I won't read your posts if you break it into a million separate quotes and make an eyesore of it.

I have a few ideas, but I'll talk about the one that has the broadest interest. An Alpha Legion one basically take Pay Day 2, turn the whole mission set into a planetary take over escalation story where you come in as an infiltration cell. I like it simply cause you have that stealth aspect, but you can also get loud and crazy. Could see it leaning more rpg'ish with brainwashing some locals that kind of thing too. It also kicks in the door for what imperial colonial life is like and giving a decent setting other then the oh so common rustic war torn one. Would love writing that really...

Space Marine is probably the closest as I want a 1st/3rd person shooter game. While the story was decent enough for me to actually kinda like the Ultramarines afterward (at least Captain Titus), I would have much rather had it where any space marine chapter could be played complete with a slightly more robust armor customizer since it was a 3rd person shooter.

If the fairly recent FPS Space Hulk game didn't saddle me with the two dumbest marines in the all of the 10,000 years marines existed and made issuing orders a multi-step process it would have been pretty also been pretty close too. The weapons look, feel and sound great. The space hulk levels are very atmospheric. The slow trudging movement had the sensation of bulky terminator armor. But again, those dumb as rocks sidekicks you actually do need to keep alive ruin the experience. While the game had different classes, you only play as the Librarian in the single player story mode.

So the ideal Warhammer 40k game for me would be a 3rd person shooter with chapter/armor aesthetics customization. I think progressing through the stages of a marine (scout, devastator, assault, tactical, etc.) with slightly expanded from the tabletop weapon load choices with specialist classes would be awesome. Since the story is about the particular marine the player is playing, the story can jump years even decades in time allowing several locations and enemy factions. Fun as it is, I would to fight a little more than orks and genestealers.
