Subject: Shadows of Brimstone Adventures KS. Stretch Goal: Trederran Tank, boats and fishmen
New Kickstarter...Soon!
Now that the Forbidden Fortress Kickstarter fulfillment is well under way, we can officially announce another project that our Shadows of Brimstone design and art teams have been working on behind the scenes – TWO brand new Shadows of Brimstone: Adventures sets!
And if you’re thinking, “But wait…I just got (or am about to get) a giant box of Brimstone goodness!”, remember in about 18 months or so, when the new KS delivers, your future self will thank you!
We first showed off some concept artwork and thematic details behind closed doors at Dicefest 2018 back in October, and now we have a brand new Kickstarter project that will be launching in the next week or so! We wanted you guys to be the first to see the official announcement and get a sneak peek of what’s to come.
The Kickstarter will feature 2 brand new, stand-alone Shadows of Brimstone Adventure Sets – Gates of Valhalla and Valley of the Serpent Kings!
Norse Vikings and Spanish Conquistadors are some of history's most ambitious and cunning explorers, setting out with sailing ships on voyages of discovery and conquest into uncharted territory. Each of these sets focuses on a new group of Explorer-themed Hero characters, venturing out on expeditions into lands that have been tainted by Dark Stone, and journeying through fantastic gateways into alien Worlds that may be a little more familiar to Shadows of Brimstone veterans.
Valley of the Serpent Kings
In Valley of the Serpent Kings, players take on the role of a group of Spanish Conquistadors, exploring the dark halls and stone ramparts of a Spanish Fort that has fallen to the Darkness, overrun by demons and creatures. This set also features brand new material for the Swamps of Jargono OtherWorld – with new Map Tiles, cards, and Enemies to battle in the murky marshes that are stalked by vicious Serpentmen.
.
Gates of Valhalla
In Gates of Valhalla, players take on the role of a group of Norse Vikings, exploring the icy crags and snowy forests of the Norse Lands that are filled with snarling beasts and mythological creatures emboldened by the power of the Dark Stone. This set also features brand new material for the Targa Plateau OtherWorld – with new Map Tiles, cards, and Enemies to battle in the frozen-over ancient alien city.
Both of these sets are fully compatible with all previous Shadows of Brimstone material, but can also be played as a stand-alone Adventure Set!
There is so much cool stuff we want to tell you about in this new project (Team Heroes, new World cards for Targa and Jargono, new Loot and Scavenge decks, mythic KS-Exclusive Promo Heroes, Ambition, Rage, the Thunderforged Titan!), but we have to save some surprises for the Kickstarter.
Watch for more details as we get closer to launch, at the end of next week!
Cheers,
Jason and Scott
Their miniature quality for Forbidden Fortress was leaps and bounds ahead of their previous efforts. I am really looking forward to this.

Agreed about the quality increase. Only have a few plastics pre Forbidden Fortress form them and they were quite underwhelming (I bought these after backing FF so I was a bit worried).
I'm in for at least the Viking one.

I'll be going in for the larger "Shogun" level pledge. SoB has become our family game, and I'm buying all the expansions I didn't pledge for when they hit retail.
Besides, I need my Conquistadors to find Eld Dorado, I mean Targa. Ponce de Leon is cool and all, but why conquiste a swamp when you could conquiste a Mysterious City of Gold?
Edit: now it's some sweet Forbidden Fortress hooks. I can get totally obnoxious with this!

Jargono is a swamp full of lizardmen and swamp raptors (dinosaurs). The Targa Plateau is an ancient city with guardian robots. You can see sketches of a robot and a dinosaurian steed in the artwork.
I'm sure I'll like it. I did my research before I bought it. It's just that campaign games require such a huge investment of time and effort that we rarely make it more than three or four sessions before it becomes unwieldy. But Vikings vs Robots is just too damn cool.
Out of curiosity, how much will I be missing out if I don't do the kickstarter and just wait for retail? What is the KS exclusive situation with these games?

Unless you get unlucky, you should be able to see some payoff for each mission in a stat increase via artifacts or goods you buy in town, so the campaign aspect is rewarding. If you want to skip ahead in skill level, it's easy to trick out your characters with nifty items. And the Vikings will probably spend most of their time killing some sort of tentacles or bug monsters before they're ready to face the robots.
The Kickstarter is a great deal for a few expansions in addition to the core set. The KS exclusives tend to be a few optional hero types, alternate gendered models for the core heroes, and maybe a small campaign or some card sets. However, the expansions add a lot to the game, and I found myself spending a lot more buying them at retail than I would have if I have pledged for them as part of the Mine Cart pledge.
If the Inquisitor can't keep up with things I'll help.
Brimstone is my go to game. Played with Bob quite a few times as well. Always makes for a fun time, and if you get into it creates that whole emerging narrative as well.
While they don't do a whole lot of exclusives, a lot of what ends up in the pledge becomes retail expansions further on down the line, and often quite some time after the KS delivers.
Plus the exclusives are usually pretty cool character classes with their own bling and special rules.
Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!
This upcoming campaign feels like it might be a bit smaller in scope and scale then the last two affairs, so they might not suffer from all of the usual delays and such.
Yeah right!
Still, it'll be worth it in the end - Shadows of Brimstone really is a good game!

I just finished assembling all the minis from my Forbidden Fortress Shogun pledge so perfect time to back another kickstarter.
Shadows of Brimstone has been a favorite of my gaming group since the first campaign, although I'll have to work out a new storage solution as things get more complicated and intertwined.

This campaign seems rather lacking right now - not sure if the stretch goals will get it there eventually, or if I'm spoiled from the first two go-rounds or if the Frog is playing a little game of makeup?

It's going to have to be a lot of things to make me pony up another $130 for. While I know it's HIPS vs PVC I want to feel like it's worth the year and a half wait for that price.
Doesn't help I was only going to get the Viking box. Going to check it at the end but right now not feeling it's for me.

Well within the first few hours the Warlord pledge already has giant bugs, giant wolves, undead vikings, gypsy vampires, along with giant bears and evil viking marauders coming in the very near future, that's a good sign.
I wouldn't be surprised to see them toss stuff in just for the heck of it either. That's how we got the Trederran Veterans and the ninja clan last time around.
