Hi DakkkaDakkians!

So I was just talking with a friend about some nostalgia games, namely Command & Conquer, Armoured Core, Final fantasy. Then we moved onto talking about what I'm working on in my Eldar army and miniatures and hobbying in general.

Then a thought stuck me. How cool would it be if there was a C&C table top game. I could get behind some NOD stealth tanks and laser towers... I would thrown money at a modular Minatare range For Armoured Core where I could swap out leg and arm bits and customize weapons with magnets in some sort of skirmish environment maybe? Finaly Fantasy chocobo knights, or some of the iconic summons would be helluva fun to paint and own.

There are lots more that sprung to mind. So I'm just curious about the kinds of things people are into, that they would like to see exported into table tops?

In no particular order mine would be:

1. Command and conquer
2. Armored Core - Like creature caster level of cool big mechs
3. Final fantasy stuff
4. Not sure if anyone ever read furies of calderon by jim butcher but would be cool to see.
5. Some sort of heroclix type stuff but actualy cool and actual minatures
6. Eve online x-wing type miniatures. Not sure how it would scale up because capital ships would have to be the size of a table lol...

I'd honestly like more multi-part fantasy models focused around armor and such.

Maybe just the ability to go and order models by sprues with a common theme, weapons sprues, etc.

Only things that I would really like to see at the moment are Homeworld from computer games and Wheel of Time from books. Was working on a Wheel of Time game back in the day in 15mm but the project stalled due to power level issues.

I got as far as book 4 for wheel of time. Not sure how the factions would work as they are pretty one type soldier one faction. Wouldn't say no to an imagining of some trollocs.

Whats homeworld?

Wheel of Time got to a dozen or so distinct factions by the end, problem was that the magic users (an entire faction only had them) were either so powerful or so poor that they broke the game.

1) Robotech - a decent version, with nothing to do with Palladium
2) Star Trek - something with more SW Armada-style rules and ships that were more in scale with one another (minimum size of the Reliant, not the puny WizKid tinyprise)
3) Modern Air Combat - there's Wings of War for WWI and WW2, but nothing I'm aware of for planes from the 70's onward.
4) GI Joe - seriously, why hasn't this been made a TT game?

There are several IPs I'd like to see in miniature - but it's simply not really an option 90% of the time. Short of a small mini-deluxe range of boutique miniatures for collectors, a company will struggle to sell almost any IP enough to justify the cost of modern plastics.

You can see this from a ton of the failed Kickstarters (even ones which succeeded and then collapsed into madness during the production process). I'd argue most of those are probably started by mega-fans who don't put proper business consideration into long term financial success of a product line.

You're better off making a non-IP direct option and if you toss in some "look alikes" you're probably okay. It's why historical and generic fantasy miniatures are "safe"-ish. They're not beholden to an IP or the on/off fancy of fans.

Not sure a game with two factions would really work all that well. It inherently limits what you can do both miniature releases and the narrative.

"But the Forsaken/Scrin C&C!"

What about them? Incredibly minor groups that have a tertiary role in the narrative overall.

The objective of the thread was definitely not trying to look at realistic project realisation/business ideas.
Obviously any fringe niche specific IP's would fail as a business 99% of the time.

The ideas don't have to be based in reality..
Its fun to wish for stuff and talk about some fringe IP's. Always happy to learn about some cool IP's that I've never heard of.
I would like to see a lot of stuff just to know it exists. It doesn't mean I'm going to buy it . Apart from a cool Bahamut/ Ifrit and some chocobo.. Id buy those..

C'moooooon.... there could be some variation and some sub factions invented
Like a rougue GDI force that kills innocent farmers for their tiberium NOD V GDI alone probably would be a bit meh.

However the later red alert games did have multiple factions from what I remember. The Japaense Empire had a bunch of mechs and I possibly recall a psychic controlled kraken...
I think Konflict 47 is a bit Red Aletrish.

Mass Effect. I would kill to see a Mass Effect miniatures game. There are multiple factions in the games with plenty of variety and you can make a wargame of various scales out of it.

Honestly, all my favourite things have minis in some form. DC Comics? Heroclix exists, but Knight Models stuff is really what I put my time into. WW2? That one should be self explanatory with how many options there are in pretty much any scale. Greek/Roman history? There's plenty of historicals that cover it, and I have some stuff, but the Arena Rex line is my favourite in that regard. Fallout? There's a minis game for it I can buy into, I just have gripes with the actual game (but will absolutely buy purely for minis at some stage). To round out my main favourites, Doom and Hellboy both have board games with passable minis, but the big two that are missing are Elder Scrolls and Halo. Spartan dropped the ball hard making a fleet battles game when Halo should've been a smaller scale wargame in 28mm or 15mm, and I'm really unsure if it will ever get picked up as an IP again unfortunately, but at least there's aftermarket Master Chief minis (just need an Arbiter to join him). Elder Scrolls is in that weird spot where it's almost generic fantasy for most humans, but then everything else is pretty distinct aesthetically, and it could sustain a huge minis line by itself (far more than most video game IPs at least)

DC:90S++G+++MB+IPvsf17#++D++A+++/mWD409R+++T(Ot)DM+

I mainly play 30k, but am still fairly active with 40k. I play Warcry, Arena Rex, Middle-Earth, Blood Bowl, Batman, Star Wars Legion as well

BVR missile combat doesn't make for a very interesting game, I suppose. I did hear on a podcast recently that someone's putting on a Falklands game at a show in England sometime soon - using CY6, I believe, and 1:600 planes

4) GI Joe - seriously, why hasn't this been made a TT game?
Come to Carronade in May, or the Glasgow Games gathering in June, and you'll see a 28mm GI Joe game. 3d printed minis, rules from … the imagination of the guy putting on the game, and some inspiration from 7TV, I think.

Given how much the novels saw army-wide conflicts, I'd like to see a miniature wargame based on Redwall. (I know about Mouseguard already, don't @ me.)

A Stargate skirmish game would also be pretty awesome.

just remmebred a cool IP Desciples 2/ Desciples 3.

That would be some mad minis game. Its already turned base and has a grid for the most part as a pc game.

Lots of factions. id get some on board with some Fallen fo sho.

My go-to two choices for this question:

Pokémon: a 6v6 skirmish/duel game blah blah blah - I don't really care tbh - but I would totally collect the original 151.

Warcraft 3 - Would make an excellent fantasy game - and would be super easy to translate (as all the units have 1-3 abilities already anyway). 4 Armies (each encompassing multiple races/sub armies) with tons of heroes and units already designed!

Both would sell like hotcakes.

You know they'd never just do the 151....
As soon as they started to sell well they'd jump on that cash-cow.

Would be a nightmare to balance the game if could buy the ones you wanted, who'd ever battle using caterpie when you could have the big three plus legendarys.
Would eb cool though Id buy em all.

I want Mass Effect an Destiny minis. I'd love to have some Krogan and Geth, along with massively customizable Guardians and all the wonderful enemies.

Also, Elder Scrolls minis would be neat.
