How does one list build in v2 with multiple formats of play?
As many events now are Hyperspace or extended or in the case of the System Opens both, it has become a bit of puzzle for me building lists. I like to plan a list well in advance of a tourney and get as many reps in as possible before the event, however this becomes really hard without knowing well in advance what format the event will be.
What bought this to a head recently for me was trying to plan for the System Opens I am going to, as day one is extended and day two (if you dont make the cut) is Hyperspace there is the real possibility of needing two very different lists and then not getting in as many reps with each list. So I am wondering if I should build one list that is legal for both formats? The pros are of course getting in more reps the cons... well Hyperspace is so very limiting. The first few lists I built with both in mind have done reasonably well in Hypersapce format (60% win rate) and horribly in extended (30% win rate).
How are others dealing with this? Or are you just not...

I would treat them as two entirely different events.
Which event are you more interested in being successful at - the System Open (Extended) or the Hyperspace Qualifier?
My gut tells me you are more interested in the System Open, so prepare fully for that.
Think of your jump over to the Hyperspace Qualifier as a consolation prize for not doing well in the Systems Open.

Aye its good advice, the issue I have is traveling overseas for both SoS and want to minimise the amount of toys I have to carry!
What do you play yourself? It seems like most US tournaments are hyperspace only and only the SoS are extended. Though apparently quickbuild tournaments are also a thing?

Most of our local tournaments are Extended. If you're worried about whether a list will be legal or not the easiest way is probably to build either First Order or Resistance squads since their options are the same for either set of restrictions (except Biohexcrypt codes, for some reason). Barring that, I have to say the average X-Wing list takes up so little space I wouldn't think it'd be a problem to transport one list for each format. Getting enough practice in with each list is another matter, of course.

We've been having that discussion too in our meta. Because the Toronto (ah!) was an SoS and Extended, a lot of people wanted to practice as much for that as possible, so they'd brought their A game with their chosen Extended list... but most of the locals were getting ready for Hyperspace Trials, so it was a horrible, miserable time for almost everyone. Most Extended players went into Toronto with an inflated opinion of their abilities.
It's going to come down to communication, I think. A lot of people only travel with one list, especially in mass transit. So making sure we discuss thouroughly the format of a game night throughout the week has been our solution.
