I just watched all of the 18 episodes of the Anthology film (series?) called Love, Death and Robots in Netflix.
These are animations done in many different styles (with one story being acted By live actors), so the looks vary from story to story.

Very entertaining little stories. In fact, I wouldn't mind watching a whole movies length of some of the stories instead of just 15 mins. or so...

I don't want to go over each episode right now as I think it will be nice watching them without knowing much about them.

Only warning is that many of the stories are NSFW (contains nudity).

I have the results of the last chamber: You are a horrible person.
That's what it says: A horrible person...

Watched the first three, absolutely thrilled with the series thus far, my favorite thing to come out of Netflix thus far alongside Altered Carbon.

Binged it over the weekend, really liked it. My favorite though was the very last one with the WWII Russians. There were a couple that were a little meh, but the series as a whole was really well done.

Yeah, the russian episode was great. Also my favourites were the Lucky 13, Afganistan and the Redneck farmers... The others were nice also. I don't think there were any really bad episodes, some were really strange though.

There's little or no horror to speak of in the 8 or so eps I've watched. Also because it's exclusively animated, anything I've yet to see isn't going to be too "horrific" by definition.

Plus I want a video or tabletop game based on the giant remote control monster fighting tout suite.

Aren't they talking about cartoon tiddies? If so, there's better fare to chase down on Netflix for skin interests. Blue Is The Warmest Color would be a good stop for that.

I want to watch this, but I wouldn't be able to until my wife and kids make that 2 week out of town trip.

Watched three episodes so far.
1. The animation is just amazing. The scene where the gal is trying to get a pistol out of her floppy purse is 100% real.

2. Love the episodes. Even the wife liked them and she could care less about anime.

3. Favorite so far was the second episode with the three robots. Loved the cat and the ending.

The episode number 3 "The Witness" was weird one, but had nice animation. I was wondering if it was all animation or perhaps actors being cell-shaded or something? Great work anyway.

NSFW note: The episode 3, the Witness, has the most nudity out of all of the episodes. If you are allergic to cartoon boobies, this is the one to miss.
There are a few more episodes w/ some amount of cartoon boobies, but not so much as in this one. So if you are disgouraged to watch the other episodes because of ep. 3, don't.

And the majority of the episodes don't have nudity anyway, so don't stop watching just because of this.

I would watch it just for the colors in that episode. The red robe she wears is absolutely amazingly vibrant.

Animation has come a long way from the cave drawings we had when I was a kid.

It's really well done. Mostly just nice to see short films get some attention. They're not all hits and the nudity is often unnecessary, but more often than not they're solid shorts.

Was this a show netflix set out to put together made by the same gang? or more like they found a bunch of sci fi shorts at festivals and aired them as a little series?

Also forgot to mention the Lucky 13 was one of my favorites too, and also the Mechfarmer Zergrush was great too.

I'd imagine, it's 100% a project just scooping up or requesting tech-based shorts, etc. No way is that the same group doing all those bizarrely different genre/styles.

Fish Night and Zima Blue were the only truly good ones, the rest are too mixed to really recommend or outright bad.

The anthology format is nice but I wish that the unifying theme wasn't basically This Is For Dudes Who Like Videogames. I feel like this kinda wants to walk in the footsteps of Devilman Crybaby but it doesn't have the vision or artfulness to pull it off, and keep in mind that I'm comparing it to a messy show.

Next time, a broader range of writers and directors would be very welcome.

It's a collaboration between David Fincher (Se7en, Alien3) and Tim Miller using a mix of adapted SF stories and original work, done by different animators under one studio and is meant to evoke a sort of "Heavy Metal/Metal Hurlant" style because Fincher has wanted to "reboot" the HM/MH dealio for years now.

"The Witness" certainly evoked memories of Enki Bilal's Nikopol trilogy in art style if nothing else for me.

I have some standout favourites and a few meh episodes in the 18, with most staying in the midfield.

Definitely NSFW on most of them but cool to have an anthology like this. Only about 1/3 of the way through.

That was the worst one, it's just an animated cards against humanity session complete with transphobia.

Agreed with you, it was indeed the worst one in my opinion. It has the laziest animation too, especially when compared to all the others. In the same genre, the yogurt taking over the world was better done and had a funnier political joke.

Ice Age wasn't amazing or anything but it still had a place in this sort of anthology by just being a neat thing. There's no major point or message or trick to it, it's just two people finding a miniature world in their old freezer. It's fluff but as part of a grab-bag that's perfectly fine.

The one that made the best use of the short film format was Fish Night. It's pretty much a one-sentence pitch that was animated but it does what it needs to establish the scene and carry through with a weird horror premise. Zima Blue was conceptually and visually the best one and felt spot on. If the shorts had been mostly near this quality then this would've been a great little series.

One of the shorts that likely would've been much better if written and directed by women was Good Hunting. There's a decent core of an idea there, with the transition from mythical China through colonialism into Victorian cyberpunk but it's too blunt and gratuitous. It's kinda "here's some possibly underage fox ass, now she sells sex, here's the fat pervert that tortures her while we ogle" etc. Mixing colonialism, industrialisation and cyberpunk works very well due to similar themes of becoming a commodity, ripped up from your roots and stranded alone in a world transformed so it's too bad it didn't lean more heavily into that. The mechanosexual clockwork stuff could be kept in some way or context because it's generally weird looking and quite literally about opening up and showing someone else how you work.

Watched two more. I liked the Suits. That was like mech famers vs. a screamer killer. Yes indeedy.

EDIT: Interesting note and I can't tell if this is real, but Slate is saying Netflix is mixing the order of them depending on the viewer.
https://slate.com/culture/2019/03/netflix-love-death-robots-episode-order.html

It appears I have been watching them in generic order, per Google. I watched Sucker of Souls last. Haven't not liked any of them.
