Well, this seems real. Paradox Interactive is doing it. Really pretty cinematic. That seems to be it so far! Other than the Q1 2020 Release Date.

Not surprised. The first game has made so much money over the years. Props for having the balls to actually say "not actual gameplay" at the bottom.

Yeah, seems like they are keeping it hush hush. Maybe looking for a big E3 reveal to blow peoples socks off. This could really hold people over for Cyberpunk 2077 if they are doing this right.

Read in a youtube comment that it is the same head writer for the first with Chris Avellone on the team as well. Not sure if those are true things or not.

But now there is also this fear it will be an Epic Exclusive. It does say XBOX PC PS4 so far though.

Edit: Oh, just started up Steam and saw the store page is up already. Looks like there is some peace of mind there. Story DLC already announced.

Quite surprised when this popped up in my inbox this morning, but pleased nonetheless as I loved the previous game to death.

Neat. But unless Beckett, a particularly charred looking La Croix and the "Cab driver" make some sort of appearance, i'll be disappointed.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

Very very awesome. Was just a teeny bit disappointed not to hear a version of the "not-Angels by Massive Attack" main theme of the original.

Also taking bets - how long until the announcement it's an Epic Store exclusive?

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

Hopefully it's more of an RPG and less of a bad shooter than the original.

Bad combat isn't charming. It especially isn't charming in a game sold as an RPG, but the amount of time interacting with NPCs is miniscule compared to the amount of time slaughtering hundreds of brain dead enemies in increasingly unconvincing urban dungeons.

According to this rando twitter user who probably knows how to use photoshop, the composer for the first games soundtrack is back on board.

Meh. The original game wasn't that good and the sequel currently looks like it's rotten to the core anyway, so it's dead on arrival as far as I am concerned.

Rotten to the core? How?
The original has a ton of bugs, a meh and clunky combat system, etc... but the inmersion was 10/10 and the history was on point.

I really disagree with that. Pieces of immersion were pretty good for brief periods, but they got shorter and shorter as the game went on.
Hollywood was really lacking (needed a lot more interaction and drama, and a lot less chopping through minions) and Chinatown was legitimately awful- the game was almost pure murder spree at that point, it devolved into pretty much the opposite of a 'Vampire the Masquerade' story, and put even the most dedicated 'Vampions' (vampire superheroes) Storytellers to shame.

The history was a bit dry, and they tried to shove too much in, even when it was irrelevant like some of the special bloodline characters. And some bits were terrible, like the werewolf and the super powered teleporting Hunter. And all the 'boss fights.' That it even had boss fights was terrible and incredibly anti-immersion,.

-----

We will have to see how the new one goes, but the impression the trailer leaves is 'run, run run, murder, murder, murder'
Hopefully, there'll be room for other things, and paradox doesn't screw this up like they did the PnP relaunch.

Nnnnnnneat! The first was an unpolished gem, one of the best games of its kind (and that includes other fan favorites such as Deus Ex). Hope this one stands up to it.

There's fan-patches to fix the bugs, which I wouldn't play without. I think they're even made official on the steam release.

Huh. This is a full year out (mar 31, 2020 is the listed release date). It seems early to crank the hype machine this hard.

Meh, honestly Cyberpunk has been doing it longer and arguably harder. A year out isn't a lot of hype when compared to some games.

Now, it has been a long time between the first and second game so that is fueling the hype pretty hard. Just like it did with KH3 and it will with HL3(lol jk its not happening).

I don't agree at all. Cyberpunk surfaces in the gaming rags with 'Does this <minor thing> mean a release date is near?' (Or rather, for the clicks, it's titled '<Blah>, Cyberpunk Release News!' but it's trash stuff from a powerless relic masquerading as games journalism.

The hype machine from the Studio itself is pretty measured. A big reveal at E3 last year (and supposedly this year), and a few comments on how its big, beefy and will take time.

This game is on week 2 and they're already tossing release dates, videos, skins, outfits, season passes, bizarre social media campaigns where you're supposed to harass friends, families and strangers about 'blood points,' that more clans are going to drip fed into the game over time as DLC (possibly free), that you start as a 'Thin Blood' and eat your way into a clan, and so on and so on.

I don't agree with you at all. Cyberpunk has been running a marvelous hype campaign. Just because they are not super active in social media does not mean they are sitting back letting it happen without saying anything. They are letting it build through silence and slowly trickling out information. People are grasping for whatever they can get about Cyberpunk, rabidly. That video they released last week was huge and it didn't even provide new info.

I think you are upset a game is being proactive in marketing for seemingly no reason.....

No. 'Not super active' means little hype. So does 'letting it build through silence.' That in particular is incomprehensible any other way.

----

As for bloodlines, I'm far more amused than upset. A year of nonsense is a proven way of burning out potential customers. They'll just get tired of it, especially since the discussions on their own forums and steam already just devolve into arguments about 'the politics.' (Though amusingly not the alt-right politics that caused Paradox to yank the rug on the pen and paper studio for V5)

I also think trying to sell it like its an AAA game with seaon oughpasses and DLC promises is a huge mistake that will end in a backlash.
The first was a janky game with a cult following. Trying to build the sequel up as a huge thing while promising the moon and likely producing another generic piece of jank by a B rank developer isn't likely to go any better.

I tried it this week and I think the game is better off remaining fondly in my memories. I'll just install Bloodlust: Shadowhunter on Steam if I start jonesing for a vampire game. I don't even remembering buying it, but its there in my Steam game library somehow.

With that said, its payday + monthly commission check, and I pre-ordered base game and DLC because I'm a fiend. I'll most likely regret it, but screw it, there's really no other upcoming game out there that appeals to me at this time, aside from Total War: 3 Kingdoms(also preordered!).

Announcing, yes. But most studios have become a lot more self-aware about setting release dates and getting into content specifics and spoilers this far out.

Which is normally true for paradox published games. Imperator Rome didn't get an official release date until about a month ago (and it comes out in 4 weeks) and the next Battletech DLC date is still hidden (beyond a vague 'summer'). Age of Wonders in Space was announced earlier than normal, but their flagship games don't have dates or even titles for the next DLC.

Contrast CA, who probably deeply regrets committing early on Three Kingdoms total war (twice) while simultaneously still playing mum on the warhammer DLC pack (should get announced next week, since the Everchosen stream will have previews on the 6th)
