Could anyone here give me an idea of the size difference between the Chaos Chosen from Dark Vengeance and the new Chaos Space Marines? I could be tempted to start a new Word Bearers warband if the new stuff doesn't dwarf what I have already. A side by side picture would be ideal if you have one.

Cheers.

Don't know scale, but at least one of those heads is identical to the chosen from DV. Made me wonder how long this release has been in the works.

Its almost comparable. The DV ones are aaaalmodt the same height, maybe a millimeter shorter. But yeah, they can easily be used as nu-CSM

Yeah there's really not a lot of difference in size, the new csm are slightly shorter than primaris marines and the DV chosen are between the original csm and the new models.

There are non-primaris SM helmets on the terminators' trophy racks which would seem to imply they've been sitting on those for awhile.

Scholars and gentlemen all. And particular thanks to Slowroll for the picture, though I fear you may have just cost me quite a bit of money.

I know you already had a picture in the thread, but here is another lineup:

The Dark Vengeance marine looks to be a little shorter but some of it is the base and some of it is a longer step he is taking. Even upon close scrutiny, I don't think the DV marine is all that much shorter.

Yeah, I think the DV chosen match up pretty well. They're definitely taller than the old marines and match the detail/size of the new marines well. Nobody is going to be able to tell the difference except upon super close look.

Intriguing. So it seems that the new Primaris scale isn't being applied to Chaos Space Marines. I have to say, I'm a little disappointed by this. Fighting each other close up, it's going to be difficult to envisage the traitors as the threatening menace they ought to be, when the loyalists are a head taller than them.

The new CSM are noticeably smaller than Primaris. I don't think this will be too much of an issue so long as CSM can be fielded in larger numbers to maintain that threat. Though, I will admit that as much as I think the Primaris sculpts I have are great, scalewise I think they are a little much even for giant post-human power armor clad warrior monks. Especially for any kind a of recon which would be dead simple to set booby traps that take advantage of that while allowing normal humans to pass safely by not even knowing there were traps there.

My head cannon always leaned toward space marines only being about 6'4" to 6'8" on average. Tall but passable for human if needed, it was the power armor that mostly made them into the hulks they seem to be. Of course there are giants among space marines well over 7' but that was certainly not the norm. I know it is a little inaccurate to the fluff, but I just couldn't suspend my disbelief that the Emperor wanted giants for his elite forces. It just creates way more problems than benefits to be a size or two bigger than the rest of the world around them. It is hard to do that now with the size of the Primaris line.
