After many months I finally got around to playing just my second game of Kill Team. This time I convinced my girlfriend to have a go at learning with me.

We played a very simple game with as basic rules as possible. No tactics or specialists or anything like that. My Harlequins vs her 'Thousand Sons' (my old Eldar aspects stood in!).

Harlequins:
1x Player with Caress
1x Player with Fusion Pistol and Combat Blade
1x Player with Combat Blade
3x Players with Kisses

'Thousand Sons':
1x Twistbray (Leader)
2x Rubrics
2x Rubrics with Warpflamers
1x Rubric with Soulreaper Cannon

We chose to play the Assassinate mission (it seemed the most simple) with Harlequins on the attack and Thousand Sons on the defence. The game lasted three turns, in the end my speed just completely overwhelmed her as I pinned her leader in the corner and the kisses did the rest! She reluctantly agreed that "it wasn't that bad", and agreed to play again some day!

Any advice on how to learn and implement more rules (and to tweak the army lists to be more balanced with eachother) would be greatly received!

The battle from above.

The heretics 'summoned' a monstrous daemon engine mid way through the fight.

The scorpion twistbray never stood a chance!

Both of those factions are likely to swing wildly since they are pretty low numbers to make a team. They are also both very kill-y so it seems to me many, if not most, of your games are going to be decided in the first or second round just my nature of those factions and the limited number of bodies on the board. There pretty much isn't away around it.

If you don't want very quick games, you will likely have to come up with special scenario rules like some sort of re-spawn of killed units like many team based shooter video games or something.

I also wouldn't normally recommend this, but it could be a good idea to up the points total so both sides can field more bodies. That could ultimately hurt the Thousand Sons though as Harleys still have the speed to close the distance and the dust boys only have one aspiring sorcerer. You could open up the board size and/or reduce cover if the elf clowns keep doing well forcing them to work longer/harder to close the distance.

Thanks! That's a good idea, although I think she kind of enjoys that the games are slightly shorter... Baby steps, once we get a hang of the rules maybe we will build slightly blather teams.

Long way to go yet. Still need to introduce the psychic phase, specialists and command points yet (and probably more I've forgotten about!).

I like your daemon engine. How old is he/she? Mine are completely black by the way and the respective two and one year old (mother & daughter).
