Welcome to game 21 in our long running campaign. This battle, the forces of the Adeptus Astartes arrive on Triskelion,
intent on crushing the retreating renegade forces before they fall back to prepared defensive positions.
The renegade Chaos forces have been forced onto the back foot and are retreating ahead of advancing Imperial Guard battlegroups.
The mobile Astartes strike force is seeking to destroy the heretics in detail – particularly their armoured reserves.

Brother-Captain Hes’Tor of the Salamanders watched the timer in the corner of his helmet display wind down to zero as his Command Rhino raced across the uneven ground.
His armoured spearhead had moved swiftly from their insertion point to strike at the Renegade laager identified by orbital recon. The Chaos units had taken refuge in an abandoned adamantium mine
to regroup following their retreat from Imperial units. Hes’Tor intended for their refuge to become their tomb.
“Mark all enemy armoured units as priority targets.” He voxxed his accompanying units. “Our mission is to remove the enemy’s ability to conduct mobile warfare”
He paused as his helmet timer reached the last ten seconds until deployment. “Exterminate these heretic fools and liberate this world with fire and faith – for the Emperor!”
Hes’Tors cry was echoed across the vox net as the rear ramp slammed down and the marine force charged into the fray

Hes’Tor looked with satisfaction at the shattered remains of the enemy force. The lighting marine assault had destroyed the renegade force as an effective fighting unit, just as planned.
He turned from the burning wrecks at the approach of a Sons of Gord sergeant. The red-armoured figure casually put down a wounded renegade with a bolter shot without breaking stride.
He stopped before the Salamander officer with a formal salute.
“Captain, enemy presence eliminated. My squads are policing the field and terminating any surviving traitors.”
Hes’Tor nodded his acknowledgement. The Salamanders and the Sons had a glorious alliance stretching back many decades, but the ruthless streak his allies exhibited often gave him pause.
His voxxed crackled with word from his orbiting cruiser. Another renegade encampment had been sighted and marked on his tactical display.
“Mount up all units – our work for today has only just begun…”

Well, with this game we finally entered the modern age with out first game under 8th ed rules. We kept it simple to get the feel of the rule changes and found it plays pretty well. I expect we will avoid
CPs and stratagems in this campaign to keep things straightforward – too much hard work for beer and chips gaming!
Next battle we keep up the pressure – another marine attack on the cornered foe…
