Zero knight lists in the top ten currently, only one Ynarri. Anyone else surprised by this?

Edit* And 4 ork lists in the top ten, one sitting at the top spot right now.

I am shocked, the current ranking has nary a single Knight list anywhere near the top ten.

Did they purposely make the missions against knights so they suck in this one GT and don't get nerfed?

Adepticon has always had a different meta to that of the other events like LVO etc.

They don't use ITC terrain, ITC terrain rules or ITC missions. That changes the table up quite a bit and the armies along with it.

As far as major events in the States goes, anyway.

Standing in the light, I see only darkness.

With the tourneys I watch I only see IG+Castellan and Ynnari dominate ITC specific ones. As soon as you move away from the LVO setup things start to change.

Do objectives have to be placed on ground level at Adepticon. Or are they the standard GW rules for placing objectives?

Still gotta be on the ground.

Note: Objectives may not be placed on ‘impassible’ pieces (e.g. rocks) or the upper floors of buildings/ruins. Terrain must be shifted in a mutually agreeable manner to accommodate this rule.

Thank you, that's interesting. Why the poor showing from Knights I wonder?

Less points for killing more points for objectives?

E - probably a combination of things but I found the main culprit I think - elements.

ITC events overly penalize MSU builds, especially where the MSU are not overly hard to kill. This leads to things like Knight+soup for holding 1-2 objectives, and builds whicah can tkae large unit sizes and get extra phases with those units (ynnarii...) dominate [hard to kill units, and not enough unit types/models to score secondaries from]

You can easily end up in a situation where one player wins who held 1 objective each round of a game, and the other player controlled 2+ objectives every turn just due to how they point killing units, due to most of the secondaries are killing units. It is a meta that came out of favoring death stars and still has not moved far enough away from that- likely because that is the narrative version of 40k the ITC judges/organizers like.

They likely could address this in 8th better than previous editions if they treat killing PL worth of certain things as scoring points instead of killing x models or y wounds- as not all units are of equal value on the table top nor are all wounds/points equivalent. i.e. killing 2 units of 10 gretchin is more valuable in ITC in terms of possible battle points than killing an unit of 5 terminators in their current system. If that was changed so PL created breakpoints for scoring secondaries it would go a long way towards addressing their issue with overly penalizing MSU.

Four ork lists made the top ten.

How is that possible when everyone on dakka constantly whines about their codex being bad?

Hmmmm.

Pure Ultramarines.

But, how can that be? Power armor and marines are bad, according to Dakka.

Maybe the game isn't in as bad a state as lots of people are trying to say it is.

Well for starters unique tournament rules. Change the enviroment, change the results. Basics.

Anything can be MADE good if you change the rules. Question is then what kind of enviroment we are talking about? For example for orks were chess clocks used? Did games end turns 5-7 as they should or 2-3? And generally adepticon rules were hurting knights.

Dakka loves to complain about how bad the game is under ITC missions while advocating that ITC missions are the only way the game should be played.
Outside of ITC missions, when playing the actual stuff GW intended the meta is very different.

If the ITC dropped it's own mission, then Dakka would simply switch to complain about the GW missions. Dakka needs a bogeyman to function.

Guilliman being good does not mean that Marines are good or that power armor is fine. He is taking a bunch of scouts and forgeworld units, that does not a balanced codex make. Otoh I think the game is definitely not in a terrible state.

Also it's not a pure UM list, there is a Callidus hanging around the list ....

Does anybody have a copy of the Militarum Tempestus list in the top ten?

If the truth can destroy it, then it deserves to be destroyed.

Seemed to be very smooth from what I saw. I mingled amongst the top tables just watching and never heard anything but good things. I played in the team tourney and had a blast. Great fun

Special mention to the final game for the championship. Saw some great sportsmanship there, even with a lot on the line.

All in all, one of the best tourneys I've ever been to

Weird, I thought orks were a gatekeeper army that couldn't seriously compete with the top meta lists.
