Didn't Ridley Scott declare the AvP Comics of the 80s and 90s non-canon, and the movies non-canon? Honestly the loss of the films is fine, and I have fond memories of the comics, but those should probably remain memories.

The movies have never been beholden to anything in the comics or books.

See Promethius and alien covenant. They flat out contradict the vast majority of it. But also the books and comics themselves have never been consistent. Each author changes gak or keeps gak from anything that came before as they see fit.

Nice, I like how it used our knowledge of the alien but didnt show us. Must be a budget thing but they used it well.

Not necessarily a budget thing. One of the most effective ways to convey fear is to not actually show the threat. This was used to great effect in the original film. Granted, we all know what a Xeno looks like, but I’m glad to see that premise being adhered to.

Loved the short, especially the end. Would watch over Alien: Resurrection anytime

Not bad. I liked the first one better. Captured the feel of the original Alien better.

Still a fun little short. They are doing a good job with these.

Ok the second one is weird. Why did that egg even hatch while sealed up in there and how was the hugger strong enough to bust out? And the death was super inconsistent with the floor and bones not melting. First one was definitely better.

Well i can assume the synthetic fluid may have neutralized it faster. As for the hugger. We have seen face huggers survive a long time outside an egg. Think of the one that got the dog in 3. Or the 2 they release to get ripley and newt in aliens.

And it doesnt need to be strength. Face huggers melt through barriers. Kanes helmet in 1.

Is this the first non-humanoid synthetic we’ve known about in Alien canon? I’ve never seen anything other than humanoid synthetics

Spoiler:
Not that the comics are canon but there is a comic with a synthetic alien named Jeri. He smokes cigars and uses the little mouth to swap it from one side of his mouth to the other.

Not sure how I feel about this one. I really like the opening shot/set up in the ally, but the rest is pretty predictable and none of the characters actually hook me enough to care about them. I know that’s a tall order in a short film, but the first two pulled it off.

Still, loving these.

This one has to be the weakest. Laughed at the chestburster scooting across the ground towards her. Also it might just be me but I found the audio for the dialogue at the beginning to be quite difficult to pick up. Ending was a bit daft.

Thanks! OP updated.

Well, Ore is my favorite one so far.

I am having trouble figuring out the continuity of these.

LV-426 was traditionally the only place with the aliens. It's why they were so crazy about getting to Ripley on the Fury prison colony. They had NO other way to get a hold of a xenomorph.

But clearly Weyland-Yutani finds these feths all over the place. So whats the deal?

I had the same thought. It could be that containment is the issue. W-Y might have had multiple encounters on worlds, but was never able to successfully control the incident. A lot of hush-hush, contact lost, mining accident stories later... How many times did incidents like this happen before they actually got one locked up for the lab to work on?

All are vastly better than Promethius so far.

And thats fair/true.

But look at Hadley's Hope.

They found a ship discovered by Ripleys crew on the Nostromo. Cool. The colony managed to get several face huggers in jars alive and preserved. They also managed to have an entire hive. And it was only because of circumstance that the cooling for the nuclear reactor was damaged and the whole site was wiped off the map.

So look at Containment. Thats clearly soil samples that are contaminated either with black goo or full on eggs. Even if that whole colony gets wiped out by the xenomorphs thats still another Hadleys Hope situation where there are now tons of xenomorphs for W-Y to grab. Are we to expect that the colony went nuclear again?

What about Ore? Either those 6 miners kill a queen and it's hive (there were multiple eggs) or the people upstairs are going to keep it sealed up and the recovery teams we saw in Alien 3 are going to arrive, head down there, capture some samples, and succeed.

At which point, what was the big deal with Ripley on Fury?

Sure are a lot of Xenomorph eggs floating around the galaxy in places that humans happen to be. It's also hilarious that a random lower exec in charge of some crap ore mine would be le moustache twirling villain suddenly.
