What do you think is the most brutal weapon a Space Marine can use?

I'm going to be basic, the Chainsword in my opinion, is the most brutal weapon, literally a weaponized chainsaw that gores and shreds your enemies to pieces.

Probably a Dreadnought with 2 Close Combat Weapons. I mean, yea chainswords are brutal and all, but imagine those on a 10 foot tall killing machine, under the control of a warrior with hundreds or thousands of years experience at fighting? That's brutal.

I would say the heresy era radium weapons that marines had. That's a nasty way to go.

If we are talking brutality. Chainsword is a good way to go. I mean it's a giant chainsaw...basically the definition of brutality.

If we are talking about brutal as in causing pain...has to be the grav gun. It literally smooshes you.

If we fail to anticipate the unforeseen or expect the unexpected in a universe of infinite possibilities, we may find ourselves at the mercy of anyone or anything that cannot be programmed, categorized or easily referenced.

Are we all joking here? Cyclonic Torpedoes for Exterminatus has to be a brutal way to go.

Or there is the CCW of the Repentia Squads, or the CCW of whatever the Sisters have, that's a Nemesis Dreadknight but with a nekkid chick inside it who looked at Yiff porn and is banished to it? What do they call those?

Then again there are Hellbrutes with those Tenticles made of warp and rape. That has to be a really ugly way to go.

live eater and the gas burning afterwards, granted you can survive the liveeater virus first though.

I frankly wouldn't want to get shot by a rubricae and their Bolter ammo of doom despair and warstuff.
alternatively, getting a free ticket to spawnhood via rubricae spell is probably also nasty way to say saionara.

However after some thinking , probably plaguemarine weaponry, also the smelly ugly bastard will grin in your face will wiping the floor with you.

Phosphex weaponry has got to be some of the nastiest gear available to the Astartes. Creates a fire so hard to put out that it can irrevocably taint the ground it burns. The Emperor himself restricted its use during the Great Crusade.

Get even a bit of you lit by that stuff, and your only hope is to amputate before it spreads.

Oh, even if you survive the burning, the stuff is horribly toxic too.

Meltagun - it basically microwave-cooks you out of existence. If it doesn’t outright kill you, I imagine the radiation dosage from it is likely terminal, and I can imagine the burns from a glancing blow can be pretty dehabilitating - through armor and/or vehicles to boot.

(Initially, I was going to go with the bolt gun. It does fire an AP rocket that is designed to detonate INSIDE the target for maximum effectiveness. Probably has a proximity fuse to detonate near you if it directly misses, and according to the old lore, it is guided so unlikely to miss in the first place. And marines fire these weapons on semi or full automatic.

It never ends well

Beat me to it.

I concur, phosphex was by all accounts a horrendous weapon to use.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

Except it operates in the infra-red, possibly into the microwave frequency range, so it is non-ionising radiation, so the idea of a "radiation dosage" doesn't really apply.

But yeah, even surviving the burns would be pretty nasty.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

Having read quite a bit on chemical induced illnesses and related problems in both civil tragedies and wartime atrocities, I'm partial to go with phosphex too because no living thing is walking away unscathed from that hellhole after it gets unleashed. That stuff wrecks the future of the ecosystem for good as it's way worse than what we've dumped into Earth thus far and we still have forbidden zones left over from WW I at the French border that are too toxic for habitation. Mental images from Vietnam napalm bombings upped to hell and beyond with death science aren't pretty.

Though if we take the brutality to mean something more along the lines of RIP AND TEAR and less about humanitarian suffering in general, I'd nominate the Astartes themselves as they are portrayed in the fluff when pretenses of civility are cast aside. While anyone can point a person with a gun that does horrible things, not everyone is a literal giant built for unrestricted carnage that screams bloody murder as they rush you with the momentum of a small car and punch through your torso with their bare hands before devouring your remains to use your treacherous memories for finding your kin to be butchered next. Like thunder warriors before them, they are inhuman monsters created for a purpose, to be the weapon that carves humanitys destiny into the stars and subjugates all under the Emperor's rule before they too are cast aside into the night to be forgotten as horrors of old.

As a certain metalhead would put it: brütal.

The most brutal weapon is the marine himself. All else is a tool, but his training, his dedication and his faith are the most brutal weapon that strikes down the enemies of mankind.
