Have we heard anything other than unsubstantiated rumors about either one coming? I'd love to see both be released, along with their respective Daemon Primarchs, of course. If I had to pick one I'd want World Eaters because I like Khorne stuff better than Slaanesh.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

If I had to pick one it'd be World Eaters as I have almost no interest in Slananesh stuff.
That said, I have no plans to make a WE army either....

Definitely World Eaters. Don't get me wrong, Slaanesh deserves its time in the sun, but as far as models go, Berserkers are long overdue and it'd be killer for them to get gladiatorial weapons when they get updated so they don't just have chainaxes and chainswords for weapons. Also, flamers aren't great but I always found it bizarre they didn't have an option for it when their catchphrase is "Kill! Maim! Burn!".

I love Emperors children but come on, it has to be World Eaters, they make Space Wolves look like pansies and plus we have Kharn.

I'd rather beserkers just had CC weapons, I hope we get access to Havocs or the old rad-weapons that killed the bearer. I would happily take a flamer though, which is also fluffy when you hear what Kharn did with one on Skalathrax. Though I've always loved the fact that all the go into battle with are chainaxes and chainswords.

I meant overdue as far as sculpts go since they basically have the baseline set up for them since AoS' Blood Warriors, unlike Noise Marines who have a much more distinct and specific build that you can't easily replicate outside of using FW or third party sculpts. So its weird that its taken them this long to do it.

CC weapons in what sense? Just the stuff they have now? It just seems odd that for a CC focused unit that they don't have much in the way in terms of CC options, especially given their origins. Though to be fair, that would step on the toes of terminators and possessed, who are already outdone by Berserkers due to the sheer amount of attacks they have in CC anyways.

No not at all, I want to see the full range of CC weapons, It's just I'm not bothered with ranged weaponry. Lightning claws for instance would fit into that unit so well, they beg to be used by Khorne worshipers. Though some Khornate weapons would be cool like a skull flail, cleavers, buzz saws similar to Ork kill saws etc.

Oh, okay, we're on the same page then, I misread what you wrote regarding CC weapons. Given that Plague marines got their own plague-specific CC weaponry despite not being CC-focused, I could definitely see Berserkers getting more CC-specific options, probably (but hopefully not) exclusive to a new KB kit. As a Black Templar enthusiast, KB is basically the gold standard for a competent marine CC unit that I wish Templars could replicate in some way.

Emperor's Children will make me start a new army, I was very tempted to bite the bullet with the latest Chaos release but I think EC will do it for me.

I think it would be spreading the butter a bit thin to do a separate Codex each for WE and EC though right? I suppose they could expand the range a bit like they did for the Thousand Sons.

They're no different really to DG or TS, plus they're part of the big four and have enough distinguishing features to have their own codex.

That's fair as the bar is pretty low, the Thousand Sons have about 3 units and 2 characters I think? It would be nicer if everything would be in one book though

Without knowing what extra units they will create for these two legions to flesh out a codex, it is hard to pick which one will be the coolest!

I'd say world eaters as they are my jam, although I prefer heresy era so I dont imagine I'd get any of the models, although if they do a daemon angron in the same vein as magnus I'll be very pleased.

Are there even World Eaters in the pipeline?

This seems like rampant unsubstantiated speculation. There's arguably some indication of a EC release, with the flesh-cloak and the Regimental Standard on denying Slaanesh, but I don't think there's been any sort of actual substantiated rumors on the World Eaters.

Guardsmen, hear me! Cadia may lie in ruin, but her proud people do not! For each brother and sister who gave their lives to Him as martyrs, we will reap a vengeance fiftyfold! Cadia may be no more, but will never be forgotten; our foes shall tremble in fear at the name, for their doom shall come from the barrels of Cadian guns, fired by Cadian hands! Forward, for vengeance and retribution, in His name and the names of our fallen comrades!

I fully believe that the future of Chaos Space Marines will more or less mirror the normal marine approach.

Black Legion (and generic CSM)
Death Guard
Thousand Sons
World Eaters
Emperor's Children

etc. However, while I fully believe we will eventually get an expanded EC or WE codex I don't think it's going to be soon. That, in my opinion would be massive Chaos overkill. Of all the factions in the game, I'd argue Chaos has been the most heavily supported laterly (in a general term). Thousand Sons and Death Guard getting entire armies in miniature, and then a recent wave of genric/Black Legion chaos, etc. To do another book and wave of minis (even though you could get away with skimping on EC/WE with a handful of kits each) is just waaaay too much Chaos while ignoring so many other factions.

So I think a more realistically expectation is 12-18-24 months. Could Sisters launch in a big battle box with WE or EC? Maaaaaaybe.

To answer the actual question: Emperor's Children. World Eaters are more or less boring and have had better model support than the Slaaneshi fellas in the past. Would be nice to see 4-5 kits to make proper Emperor's Children marines. Slaanesh is boring as a daemon army, but is very under-represented in CSM armies I feel.

A secondary marine codex (primaris only) would make sense, particularly if they get another further model release.

I doubt it'll be a second one, it'll be a release of the vanguard line and a re-release of the SM codex like what CSMs got. Now if the primaris lines keep pushing out the day of a spun off codex seems likely, however it may take differant forms, such as rather then split primaris from old they could instead go with "Codex Space Marine Battle companies" "Codex: Space Marine Vanguard" focused around the scouts and vanguard marine. and finally "Codex: Space Marine first company veterns"

just for example.

that's if GW is counting the re-make of the Chaos Marine codex and Space Marine codex as 'more codexes'. They could have meant new factions rather than just updated codexes, and if that's the case, then we still might have 2 or 3 more to come.

I'm personally hoping for Emperor's Children first. Slaanesh is finally getting some attention and I want to see that train keep moving along. If Nurgle and Khorne can dominate the market for 1.5+ years each, then Slaanesh deserves at least like 3 months, right?
