Just a few Aeldari options I've been kicking around in my head for a while. Given that asuryani are doing just fine at the moment, I tried to make these horizontal options rather than raw power boosts. What do you think?
Stratagem: The Phoenix Rises 1 or 3 CP
During deployment, spend 3 CP. If you're using Matched Play rules, spend 1 CP and an appropriate number of reinforcement points instead. You may add a single Phoenix Lord unit to your army. The phoenix lord is not considered to belong to any detachment in your army. Basically, it's the Assassin strat for phoenix lords.
New Special Detachments
Below are several new special detachments. Spend 2CP before the game to make the detachment a Students of _______ detachment. The indicated phoenix lord must be included in the detachment. The phoenix lord, all units of the phoenix lord's aspect and any autarchs (except Yriel) in the detachment gain the indicated keyword. Autarchs and phoenix lords in such a detachment may take the detachment's warlord trait (despite the rules normally preventing phoenix lords from doing so).
Students of Asuryan
Phoenix Lord/Aspect: Asurmen/Dire Avengers
Stratagem - Bladestorm: 1CP; Use this stratagem when you shoot or overwatch with a Students of Asuryan unit. Shuriken weapons (including Kurnous' Bow) fire an additional shot (meaning an exarch with two shuriken catapults fires a total of 6 shots). The unit may not shoot or overwatch until the end of the following asuryani shooting phase.
Warlord Trait - Defend : Models directing attacks against a Students of Asuryan unit within 6" of your warlord during the Fight phase reduce their Attacks characteristic by 1 (to a minimum of 1) for the rest of the phase.
Students of Fuegan
Phoenix Lord/Aspect: Fuegan/Fire Dragons
Stratagem - Internal Flame: 2CP; Use this stratagem when a Students of Fuegan unit destroys a non-titanic enemy vehicle or monster. If the unit has Explodes or a similar rule, the roll to see if it explodes is automatically treated as a 6. Students of Fuegan units do not suffer mortal wounds from the resulting explosion.
Warlord Trait - Weaver's Unraveling: Your warlord treats the damage characteristic of his weapons as 1 higher than normal when they inflict unsaved wounds on vehicles or monsters.
Students of Jain Zar
Phoenix Lord/Aspect: Jain Zar/Howling Banshees
Stratagem - Disorienting Shriek: 1CP; Use this stratagem when a non-vehicle enemy unit attempts to fall back from a Students of Jain Zar unit. Roll a d6. On a 4+, the unit may not fall back this phase.
Warlord Trait - Cool Backflip: When your warlord destroys an enemy unit in the fight phase, you may immediately move (or fall back) up to 7" as though it were the movement phase instead of consolidating. This movement may take you within 1" of an enemy model.
Students of Karandras
Phoenix Lord/Aspect: Karandras/Striking Scorpions
Stratagem - Patience of Kurnous: 2CP; Use this stratagem when a Students of Karandras unit arrives from reserves. Immediately after placing the unit, move it d3+1".
NOTE: Alternatively, what about letting them return to deepstrike reserves for 1CP?
Warlord Trait - Hunter's Prey:When your warlord slays an enemy character, gain 1 CP.
Students of Baharroth
Phoenix Lord/Aspect: Baharroth/Swooping Hawks
Stratagem - Hawk Marked: 2CP; Use this Stratagem when a Students of Baharroth unit uses its grenade pack (or Baharroth's grenade pack). A unit targeted by the grenades suffers a -1 to hit until the start of the next asuryani turn.
Warlord Trait - Cry of the Wind: Your warlord may charge in a turn in which it fell back.
Students of Maugan Ra
Phoenix Lord/Aspect: Maugan Ra/Dark Reapers
Stratagem - Death From Afar: 1CP; Use this stratagem when a Students of Maugan Ra unit shoots during the shooting phase. They treat the range of their reaper launchers, aeldari missile launchers, and tempest launchers as unlimited until the end of the phase.
NOTE: Reapers, being the most powerful aspect on this list, get the weakest, most situational strat. Still, it could come in handy during games played on abnormally large tables or when you're trading shots between opposite corners of the table.
Warlord Trait - Reaper's Harvest: Unmodified to-hit rolls of 6 made by your warlord in the shooting phase count as 2 hits instead of 1.
