Anyone else watching this?

Just binge watching and enjoying much more than Walking Dead /FTWD.

Like the pacing more and interesting elements -
Spoiler:
the school kids were nicely done

Its alot darker than WD as well in terms of how people are reacting.

I intend to try watching it this weekend. Better than TWD is a pretty low bar, that show had half a good season and then permanently blew its wad, in my opinion.

Agreed.

Its def set during the outbreak, seems to be relatively low budget but unlike WD stuff happens

Don't seem to be scared to kill people off either.

watching 4th epsiode in a row.

pretty good, they're trying to be realistic and random, but at times it still felt like chirography.

If I was in Spears' situation in E3, I would of shot any one of the kids, not in the head, and watch them all panic and run from whoever I shot. That deaf guy had it coming, he was too good conscious of a man in a apoc world.

E4 was hard to watch, I know they're trying to be comedic, but that guy just suck all around.

I won't spoil the latter episodes yet with more discussion.

Spears
Spoiler:

Even the dumb guy clubed the guy who had saved him with the rock.

They are clever in aluded to worse stuff happening that they are going to show
Spoiler:
- the family gagged by one guy in ep 1 and the girl being driven away by two guys.

I also like that they figure stuff out that took Wd crew whole seasons to work out.

See how it goes.

I honestly find this to be somewhat... dull.

At least from the first two episodes. It's mostly people randomly wandering around and seeing bad gak happen (or random implied rapey stuff), or in the case of episode 2, preposterously dumb ass gak happening (who spends that much gas trying to get more gas?).

I do like the atmosphere, that's some well crafted stuff, but most of the characters are to my mind "random survivor #." About the only person who made any impression on me is Price, who did one thing to really stand out from the rest of the cast and then proceeded to... randomly wander around not saying or doing much.

I certainly hope it picks up. If the atmosphere builds to something it'll be great, but if the whole series is just like the first two episodes, how hum drum.

I think the "random survivor X" is kinda the point - people (at least initially) come and go and its not certain who is going to last the epsiode (well as much as Tv can be).

I do like the pacing.

Watched it all now and quite happy with it

Watched it this weekend, I liked it.. a little slow and dull in some parts but overall there was enough zombie action to make it fun. I liked how they weren't afraid to kill off people you thought were gonna stick around, especially the one outside the stadium near the end.

Am I the only one that thought the stadium was too clean and needed to have trash pretty much everywhere? Because people

Also liked how in the beginning they were showing pretty much the same few scenes, but from different people's perspectives. Was kinda cool.

Also at the end in the credits it said it was based on Z Nation .. isn't that a campy syfy show? I never got into that show, never really like it..

I watched a few episodes of this so far.

On the one hand, I would agree it's better than TWD. I've been enjoying it on the whole.

On the other hand, LordOfHats is right in that there have been a few bits here and there that... seem dubious. I get gas is precious, but chasing dudes for hours for gas while in a low-MPG gigantic pickup? They could have chased no one and probably been ahead, gas wise. I also know they need to insert stupid survivors doing stupid things because lol, they want to be realistic, but I still found my suspension of disbelief a bit broken when fully one half of a group, upon seeing a drum, IMMEDIATELY started using it to make loud noises while literally running for their lives.

To reiterate though, I am liking it mostly so far.

I just got through the "heist" episode (5 or 6?).

It feels like there was an episode missing in between last one and this one (I actually hit back and checked the episodes after a few minutes to make sure I didn't miss one). How did they get here? What is this place? How did this scheme get hatched? None of this is explained in any way.

I get these are supposed to be little vignettes and not a 100% linear story, but man it felt like a big gap happened here.

Spoiler:
they kept talking about knowing where an outpost was, and that it had serious firepower. They also had a way in. My inference (this show doesn't do direct exposition) is this was Manny and Carmen's gang enclave. Manny seemed to fit as a reluctant gangster, and that allowed him to know their security protocols. It also explains why token racist redneck never tried to turn on those two.

At least that's my assumption. I really like the tone of the show, and the bleakness and suddenness of it.

I guess that makes sense.

So far my favorite part was when the dumbest guy on the show, who inexplicably got an entire episode of his own, decided to never once try driving away with any of the emergency vehicles. He's consistent at least - dumb as a brick.

Two episodes in, its a real trip. Only going to watch one episode at a time after this. Loving it.

Clearly this is not Texas. They never have Zombie movies in Texas, because there would be no Zombie crisis in Texas.

Jumped into it this week.
Pretty solid so far. Its well shot, good suspense at times, decent action and the plot does move along.

I'll echo however there is basically zero character development/interest
Its definitely plot rather than character driven.
The fact they shoot it "in real time" with no cuts and little editing does drag it out in places too unfortunately but so far (episode 7) its a solid little watch.

Finished watching this.

I have very mixed feelings about this. One the one hand, most of this show is stupid on various levels. Not just the character motivations like the drum idiots, but also stuff like: clearly the actors couldn't be trusted with blank firing guns, so were given rubber props and the gunfire CGI'd in later. No brass is ever ejected, the dust covers are always closed on the M4/AR types, and at one point the korean lady brandishes an Uzi that doesn't have a magazine inserted.

On the other hand, this show was super, super watchable! It has that certain je ne sais quoi where you keep watching episode after episode. It helps that it's not a full length run, I guess the entire run is what - 3 or 4 hours? But it feels about right.

I enjoyed the actual zombies - you don't really see sturdy zombies like that much now, soaking up bullet after bullet and shrugging it off, even some headshots sometimes. The costumes and makeup look like they cost tens of dollars, but it was good enough.

So, even though I was pretty negative, I liked the show! Definitely better than TWD, though again that's a quote low bar to vault.

I'd like to see a second season that is completely divorced from the first one; same setting but totally new survivors. I also can't help but think that people in that situation being incredibly stupid might be super accurate.

I would pretty much agree - people are often stupid especially in times of stress.

The pacing was spot on for me and I didn;t notice the stuff about the guns.

Also a whole new cast for season 2 would be great.

I'm pretty sure the reason the opening days and weeks of a zompocolypse would be so lethal is that 90% of the planet would be running around in panicked circles, stupidly holding to crazy parts of 'normal' life like a security blanket. Another 9% are going to realize that all societies checks and balances are gone, and go pure bad.

Doubly so when the are up against rage zombies. Watch all the zombie movies you want, but when faced with rabid, raging people who just won't go down or feel pain and just want to eat you, most of us are going to gak our britches and be dumb.

So just watched Season 2 of the show.

I enjoyed alot!

Still kept their mutiple Point-of-views of the same scene which I thought worked so well IN S1.

Some good characters - old and new - and few punches pulled.

I enjoyed season 2. Though I had forgotten so much of S1 that I didn’t know there were returned characters in this season.

I think I say this after every zombie show/movie, but I’m zombied out. I think the only thing that would shock me in a zombie flick now is if a zombie outbreak happened and humanity just banded together and fought it off. None of this “the living are the real enemy” or societal colapse into a Mad Max world stuff. Probably be boring as feth now that I think about it, but it’d be different.
