I love playing Tau, but I absolutely abhor a few things about the faction. The main thing is the Burst cannons. They're ridiculous. My second, although lesser, pet peeve is the XV25 stealth suits. I love how they play on the table, but I have issues with how they actually look. Something about the rounded carapace just doesn't look so good to me. XV15 stealth suits, however, look fantastic, and miniguns that look like, with some luck, they could hit the broad side of a barn are something I definitely want to invest in.

As it happens, I have found both of these online, the XV15 here at https://www.shapeways.com/product/AQMJWEWEC/stealth-suit-xv15-2?optionId=95016815&li=marketplace and the minigun here at http://www.reddogminis.com/catalog/item/9021373/10279589.htm. Are these a scam, difficult to procure, or just badly constructed, or worth investing in?

Red Dog makes good stuff. The shapeways piece is a (bad) render of an existing XV15 suit not produced by GW anymore. Not a scam as far as I can tell, but definitely a bad substitute. I'd scour E-bay for old metal XV15's if that's your preference (at this moment, they seem to go for 7-11 USD for 3, which is a steal). There were at least 4 different poses and 2 different Shas'vre produced by GW.

You could always kit bash your own also or just hunt for 3rd party bits. Im sure someone makes a unique tau helmet, shoulders, and back packs you can stick onto fire warriors and call stealth suits.
