Is 'Eavy Metal Calling?

Time to vote on next month's topic. As always, 2 days to vote and the second place theme will get another go next month. For May, your options are:

Relics: Whether a simple battle standard handed down through a regiment's history, or an heirloom weapon of near-mythical power, many forces go to war with precious relics of an age gone by. Your entry should include some important relic, heirloom or other such item of special value it its bearer.

Mad Science: Steampunk contraptions, armoured supersuits, experimental starships or whatever it is that Ork tech qualifies as are common sights in many games. Your entry should represent the stranger side of science and technology, whatever form that takes for your chosen range.

To The Death: Whether it is a champion engaging in a duel to decide the fate of their world, or a veteran soldier who simply refuses to die, your entry should include the sort of fearless individuals who will fight to the last and stare death in the face without a moment's hesitation.

Swordplay: Bit of a more a wild card, very specific but very simple. Your model must be wielding a sword. It could be a regular one, a chainsword, a lightsaber, a magic blade, a ceremonial one, but it has to be a sword. Beyond that, anything goes!

I'm voting sword play so I can do Abaddon, although he would fit relic and possibly death too.

I voted for Swordplay because I could do the Rogue Trader from Blackstone Fortress, although he may fit more than one of the themes. I know I've easily got something I could do for each of them though:

Relics: Belial, Sammael on Corvex, Janus Draik (the aforementioned Rogue Trader), perhaps even Typhus (he himself is a relic of sorts since he's been fighting the Imperium since the Horus Heresy).
Mad Science: Tau Ghostkeel, Negavolt Cultists, Chaos Venomcrawler or new Obliterators
To The Death: Deathwing Terminators, Wulfen, Blightlord Terminators, and probably many more
Swordplay: Janus Draik, Belial, just about anything I have from Lord of the Rings, I've got a lot of sword-wielding models.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

I went for mad science. Everyone loves a bit of mad science.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

I voted Mad Science, was thinking of doing my Eldar Bonesinger.

But right now I need to get to work on this month’s entry. Nothing like the poll for next month to light the fire...

I voted for To The Death as I want to get back to painting Imperial Guardsmen.

Cheers,

The DKoK will always vote for "to the death".

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

If “to the Death” wins, I might have to paint some undead.

You just fighting to the death? Slacker. We went beyond! Not going to let something like that slow us down...

Voted for “To the death!”, as I’ve got some Commissars that would definitely fit the bill. To be honest I’ve got options for all of these, although I would be very annoyed if relics wins, having just done this guy outside of the competition:

I chose to the death, I will probably do the second half of my LoTD or the second half of the Death Company

I could do all with 2 models total, but I voted "To The Death", because that's the easiest one to do. And actually, finish. As it's a single Guardsman.

I voted “to the death”. I have a 20 year old diorama that I want to finish, and that I think might *just* fit.

I have gone for swordplay as an excuse to paint more Carnevale. Should have a free painting table by start of may so up for joining in for the first time.

Went for "Mad Science" because that describes most of my entries tbh

Also would be happy with "to the Death" as I can think of a scene for that

So, I guess To The Death wins, then?
