Hello!
I thought it would be nice if we shared memorable moments of the last game we played or witnessed. Be it an act of heroism, impossible roll or hilarious failure, anything that made the moment memorable.
If this thread becomes a long-term thread, it would be a great source of fun.

I'll begin with mine.

Killteam, AdMech vs GSC

Fulgurite Electropriest had his premiere this game and he proved himself, as he went on a murderous rampage, killing one genestealer and two more acolytes in close combat, all while holding an objective, passing saving throws only on his 5+ feel no pain.

Fun fact: the model is an ultimate kitbash, made of various GW bits of several ranges, including AdMech, Chaos cultists, Dwarven Ironbreakers, GSC and some naked torso from Fantasy battles. A friend called it looks like a Frankenstein. Since that moment, the models' name is Frank.

My only memorable moment from my last game was...a plan actually worked. A plan I actually made ahead of time (something I never do).

We had decided to play a Narrative mission from Vigilus Defiant (or Ablaze, I don't recall). It involved my army in the center with no cover, trying to break out of two short table edges - loaded with terrain. I played Chaos Renegades (my weaker army) and my buddy played his Dark Angels (about the last force I wanted to face - sitting still with all of their re-rolls etc.).

I could go to either table edge, but I decided (logically) to stack my entire army on one side. Why fight in two directions? I was only 12" from my his deployment and my Renegades can advance and charge. The scenario dictated that I go first.

Step 1: Talk loudly about my ability to advance and charge and grin as I deploy my entire army 12" from his deployment zone. (Basically I hope this makes him deploy slightly further back to avoid additional charges)
Step 2: Deploy my entire army as close to his deployment zone as possible.
Step 3: Hope he sees this and likewise deploys his whole army to stop me (after all I'm now 48" from the other table edge and only 24" from his)
Step 4: Taking advantage of the guaranteed first turn...haul ass the other direction.
Step 5: Make enough distance by advancing and popping smoke, and simply accept casualties while being shot in the back.
Step 6: Escape.

I had one suicide distraction, a Hellforged Predator, and it did fine - blowing up and burning a scenario stratagem to inflict heaps of mortal wounds (basically sent it in as a fire ship). I rolled extremely luckily on my advance rolls for the first turn and I was out of range of almost all of his small arms and with smoke popped on my Rhinos etc. I managed to take only reasonably casualties. He played the Thunderhawk strafin run stratagem several times to try to stop me, and I lost a few units to long-range heavy weapons. But all in all, the complete bluff and tactic worked.

The face my opponent made when I chained 4 summons to grab an objective across the table in the last turn. I don't know why people keep being surprised. Summon points are public information, if I'm saving them all game there's a reason for it.

You mean CSM style Daemonic Ritual? If so, you're aware a summoned character cannot, in turn, summon?

My last game was a game of Men of Bronze. Phillip the II's Macedonians were trying to throw their weight around in the Black Sea region. Some Greek Mercenaries were there to help sort them out.

My big unit of Macedonians supported by Peltasts had gotten stuck in with my opponents Spartan Elite and a Militia Hoplite unit. They were grinding away on each other pretty equally.

However, my unit of Thessalian allied Light Hoplites were maneuvering in open order to form up and get a flank charge into the big melee to tip the tide. Then the unexpected happened!

A unit of Psiloi charged from the back field where they had retreated to for safety. They landed a powerful flank strike on my open ordered allies, and managed to tie them up and eventually route them.

This turned the game from a decisive Macedonian victory to a draw as all units broke at about the same time. The lowly armed helot Psiloi saved the day!

Knights and Guard vs Alaitoc Eldar.

My headsmans mark Crusader was focused, managed to survive with 6 wounds left. My turn, it moves up, kills a Hemlock Wraithfighter, then assaults and cripples a wave serpent. Opponents turn, he fire everything at the Knight, it soaks up all the damage, until eventually I fall a save and it dies. I roll a 6 to explode..it pops and kills a wave serpent, and does 6 damage each to a nearby pair of crimson hunter exarchs. Good times.

Las game was Dark Elves agains Ogre Kingdoms.

I placed a unit of Cold One Knights with a Battle Standard Bearer (with Hydra Banner for additional attacks on the charge) on my left flank, while letting my supreme sorceress flinge magic spells at the ogres. Being under heavy crossbow and magic fire, the Ogre unit advanced despite the impending doom that awaited in form of the Cold One Cavalry. The charge and quite surely, the rout movement would lead my Cold Ones behind the enemy lines, where it really, really hurts.
Stupidity test... on morale 9...failed. Oh dear. They stumbled ahead, directly into the reach of the Ogres. Not so good. But I still had a fallback solution, I managed to cast Dominion on the Ogres to forbid any movement in the coming turn
In the Ogre players turn, He moved his Scraplauncha straight forward an in a Flanking postition to my Knights, because he had a misfire the turn before and wasnt able to shoot anyway.

Guess what happened in my next turn.... Stupidity test on 9...failed again! And I wasnt able to cast Dominion this time, leading to a not-so-nice Double Charge with a lot of Strength 5 impact hits on my Knights. Ouch!

Memorable momnet last game?

Killteam- Thousand sons V Greyknights V Primaris Astartes

In a power armour rich environment, the Thousand Sons had a lot of fun mag dumping into the beefy but numerically inferior Primaris and the choppy/dakka but even more numerically inferior Grey Knights. The Warpflamer had a good day of it, advancing and melting poor Primaris. The Demo soulreaper cannon marine took a commanding position and blasted anything that exposed itself.

I was getting kills but none of them counted because we were supposed to be capturing folks (removing them from play within 1 inch of a friendly). Then the greyknight Justicar failed a charge, leaving him stranded. As I had turn priority, I moved my Sorceror in to charge and made it. I then got the power off in the psychic phase, taking him out while within 1 inch and jumping into the lead.

Rest of the game was spent gunning down people at range and breaking both enemy teams.

I'm retiring the sons for a while... that's no way to teach new players the game...

Yeah. Those filthy Xenos are now crispy as McWrap, fried with the love of Mr. Volta and Mr. Ampére.

TS are pretty strong. My Cogboys got their rear force dampeners made defunct several times by them before I learned how to effectively play against them. AP-2 really hurts.

Also: Thanks for your responses, people! Let's keep it rolling.

Game of Mordheim. I had won the previous two encounters (Marienburg vs witch hunters). It was a hard fought game and each of us tempted to route a few times, but we persevered with heavy casualties, including important characters on both sides.

In the end the witch hunters won! Hurrah! I cheered for my opponent, happy that he had pulled victory from the jaws of defeat.

The first thing to do once a game closes is to roll for injuries. His leader got sent to the pit fights. No worries, he was well equipped and stood a decent chance to beat the pit fighter and come out with 50 gold pieces and +1xp to his name!

Unfortunately things did not go quiets so well, the pit fighter and the witch hunter captain traded blows, with the captain eventually being taken out. He was stripped of his gear and had to roll another injury result... Obviously the witch hunter had suspicions he had been beaten unfairly by foul magyks and trickery! Because we rolled on the injury chart and Ut oh! Sent to the pit fighter again, except this time butt naked and unarmed!

Out of grace we gave the captain a knife, but without his pistols, swords, lucky charms he was predictably beaten easily. To death. Leaving only 5 members in the witch hunter warband.

Rip witch hunter captain and his warband who managed to seize defeat from the jaws of victory; they were promptly disbanded despite having won the previous game!

Last game I played, I flew a Stormfang Gunship right next to an Ork Big Mek with Kustom Force Field. Fired all the guns at the Mek because I wanted to take away the 5++ from some nearby Boyz. First I did the Helfrost Destructor and Stormstrike Missiles at the same time since they have basically the same profile. Got 4 wounds, and my opponent proceeds to make all 4 5++ saves. But then I roll the Skyhammer Missile Launcher. Got 2 hits, 2 wounds, and my opponent failed both saves. 2d3 wounds from that. Got a total of 5, and thus the Big Mek was struck down. My opponent and I both found it funny how the big guns just bounced off but the little wimpy shots killed the guy.

My last game was awful.

His (GSC) V. My (Black Legion)

Open war:

Objective: 6 markers, roll when you control one, roll a 6+ that's the marker everyone wants, remove the others.
Twist: All guns range 12in, after turn 1, roll 4+ to increase weapon ranges by 6in per turn.
Deployment was the dawn of war triangles touching in the center.

Turn one charge for his army, destroyed nearly 1800 points of mine. ITC rules combined with the gun range nerf from the mission made overwatch literally impossible for me.

Walked away feeling pretty bitter.

Played with my GSC + tyranids against a full knight list. I was under the impression that sudden death only occurred after the end of a game/round turn. My opponent let me know that this occurred after 'player turn' right at the moment I only got one wounded zoanthrope left, 6 inch away from the close combat knight. Knight charges and rolls double 1. He uses a reroll and rolls a 4. Not enough. Next turn my acolytes drop in and chew away his knights. That was a close one!

2x500 point patrols doubles game of 40k, I was piloting two Death Guard patrols against my buddies' AdMech and IG. Lots of terrain, woods and overgrown research facilities to provide movement penalties and cover (always use Cities of Death rules, lads).

The game was about kill points and area control, which was bound to be interesting given I got some nasty hitting power in a pair of heavy dreadnoughts while they got the numbers in boots on the ground. Their line had a strong, armoured center with an Onager and some sentinels with infantry advancing on the sides, which I then countered by sending the Leviathan up against their midfield to draw fire, took a good firebase with some marines and then closed the pincer by rushing forwards on the flanks with the Contemptor on one end, melee marines at the other. A teleporting terminator lord in their backline caused further disruption later on.

Hilarity ensued. Forward creeping AdMech squads got caught in the open and just exploded, my cultist guerrillas lost 7/10 men immediately but held on through Insane Bravery to hunker down out of sight and claim area objectives from a bush, the Leviathan ate fire all day smacking things to pieces until it was killed by a Veteran squad with three meltas and a heavy flamer, said Veteran squad was then absolutely slaughtered to a man singlehandedly by my Plaguecaster (who went on to survive the game with one wound despite eating sniper fire and a full-powered neutron laser to the face AND charging the entire Mechanicus line alone), the plucky Guard commander who was armed with a relic sword charging the terminator lord and surviving contact for three whole turns before succumbing, guardsmen bravely charging the Contemptor with only one wound left...

I won massively on points, but there wasn't much left at the end. They had the Onager, a techpriest and a sentinel in melee, I had two some infantry and my wounded characters, but my units hadn't really died. In tatters, sure, but defiant and not giving away points as I had really only lost the dreads and one cultist group. Good fun.

Infinity the game tournament last weekend:
So this game has an active and a reactive player, and each time the active player activates a model within lof of an enemy, the enemy models may react with an ARO (automatic reaction order).

My first game, my opponent (active turn) decided to AD (Aerial Deployment, this game's version of "deep strike") a LiuXing HI (powered armour) jump infantry into my deployment zone. This trooper drops an explosive (round 5") template upon landing, with the intent of catching enemies in the blast. If successful, he would've gut my backline.

My hacker reacted with "hack his dropship" to change his landing position - the rolls are opposed. If he wins, he gets to place the blast, etc. If I win, I force a scatter. My hacker won the roll-off and he scattered off-table and back to HIS Deployment zone where he couldn't hurt me.

The look on his face was priceless. I guess he was trying to get a major win in the first round of the tournament and thought it was something worth trying. I still lost, but only a minor loss (it was a 5-2 victory to him on objectives) but that move not coming off probably cost him the podium finish.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

A buddy and I are old timers and slowly returning to 40k through kill team. We sat down to play Eldar (Not changing names; they will always be Eldar to me)
against his orks.

The mission was to hold objectives and the chart from the rule book changed it to a single objective to hold in the game.

In the middle of the game, all of a sudden my opponent asked, "What the heck would be something that orks and eldar both with want??"

Hence the single objective.. I was clueless.. But we both laughed about it.. but we never came up with a answer.

Memorable moment from my last game...
The ridiculous amount of 6++ shield of faith saves my girls were making. Dice were on fire.

I forgot to move Celestine and only noticed her when it was charge phase. She salvaged my mistake by making an 11" charge.

My imperial knight (helmet replaced with penitent engine pilot) actually failed it's freeblade Ld test and went nuts charging and wiping out an admech ranger squad (not sure the name, are a troop choice).

2 Penitent Engines actually made it into combat.
