Incorporating Wet-Blending

150 miniatures and counting! $109 base pledge.

By the Sadler Brothers (Descent, Gears of War, Mansions of Madness). "Roll to resolve" dice mechanic with some HeroQuest nostalgia. Playthrough videos explain the rules well.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/blacklistgames/altar-quest/description

"Using the Modular Deck System (MDS), introduced in Street Masters and Brook City, the game features incredibly modular gameplay using several different types of decks. Hero decks, threat decks, villain decks, and quest decks can all be mixed and matched along with altar cards, feature cards, and other game elements to create countless combinations of unique adventures. With an engaging one-off experience and narrative campaign play, Altar Quest offers players endless adventure in a unique fantasy setting with years of support planned for the game.

Miniatures are unpainted, but here's a painted pic by one of the designers and painter...

I like the terrain bits. It feels really weird to have a static board layout for this sort of game nowadays tho.

I'd absolutely consider buying into this, but really don't care for the childish aesthetic (or the aesthetic in general). I would like a boardgame dungeon crawl to play with my nephew, but think I'll have to pass on this.

I'll vouch for their Street Masters game. Lots of fun. Hard, but fun.

The modular nature of all the card decks makes the board a very secondary thing- what the game is attempting to do to you, what you're trying to achieve, and how you go about it are much more important.

I can imagine this will be quite similar as it's based on the design philosophy behind Street Masters.

Sadly the artwork and models aren't doing a whole lot for me either. For a first time publisher I thought Street Masters had decent models, if a little shallow on detail (you can see some of my crappy painted ones in my gallery if you're curious), and I'd imagine they will continue to grow and improve on the quality of the figures, but something about the designs so far just isn't doing much for me.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

The art and miniatures look straight out of Dragon Magazine from like 1990

...but I may still back it, lol

Tried to convince myself to pledge, but frankly I'd just rather play my heavily modified Advanced Heroquest

It looks nice, but the board will get very samey after a while and the enemies aren't really to my taste.

After watching some play-thrus of the game I ended up backing. Only about 20 hours left for anyone interested. Right now you get 188 miniatures (including some nice dungeon terrain pieces) for the $109 pledge.

With the sheer amount of stuff that's included at this point, I think I'll stick around. Don't forget there's been a second board unlocked as well!

It'll be fun to see how much more stuff they try to cram in there with the last 24 hours!
