I was wondering if anyone would be willing to help me put together a solid 1000 point Skaven list  [RSS] Share on facebook Share on Twitter Submit to Reddit

I'm not looking for a 1000 point tournament or TAC list. I'm just looking for a list that will definitely hold its own, but it won't be one of those that no one at my GW or FLGS wants to play against because it's very difficult to beat.

Here is what I currently have (all from Spire of Dawn and Silver Tower):

HQ
1 Skaven Warlord/Clawlord
2 Deathrunners (no longer exists since Battletome Vermintide - maybe be used as Deathmaster instead)
1 Warlock Engineer

Battleline
2 units of 20 Clanrats

Other Units
2 Rat Ogors
1 Packmaster (only exists in units of 3 since Battletome Vermintide)
1 Poisoned Wind Mortar Weapon Team (no longer exists since Battletome Vermintide)
1 Warpfire Thrower Weapon Team

I don't mind getting new models as needed. My guess is that I'm going to need at least 40 more clanrats even for a 1000 point army. Would it be worth investing in a Verminlord? If so, which would be best for the units I have above? While I think they were meant to be run as Clan Moulder for Spire of Dawn, I'm painting mine as Clan Skryre.

Thanks in advance!

First off, thank you for defining the power level you are looking for as that makes this a lot easier.

You are correct in needing more clanrats; two units of 40 are perfect battleline for 1000 points. The rat ogors unfortunately aren't going to work; you'd need more of them and a master moulder to make them perform. All the characters are good to go, but I would run just one deathmaster.

That leaves you with 300 points. A vermin lord could fit here; normally this would be a bit of an over-investment in characters but the vlords are extremely powerful. Another unit of infantry (take your pick) would also work, though note plague monks could be too strong and plague censers are a poor choice since they won't have the support needed. A grey seer on screaming bell would give you some more magic and battleshock immunity while leaving points for a small infantry unit to snag/camp objectives. Stormfiends are always a good choice, just don't take the poisoned wind weapon option on them.

Road to Renown! It's like classic Path to Glory, but repaired, remastered, expanded! https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/778170.page

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

Thank you very much for the info! That helps a lot!

EDIT: One quick question... why would Plague Monks be too strong?
