I'm an Imperial Guard player looking to try out a much more elite and assault focused army, preferably with a lower model count than the 40-70 I had in my IG lists. Blood angels seem to fit that criteria perfectly. I'm trying to make a VERY assault/CC focused list that won't get shot off the table right off the bat.

The idea with the intercessors, scouts, aggressors, and priest was to create a mobile fire base that's not afraid of advancing and/or charging, and then deep strike the jump troops and reivers turn two. I'll use the stratagem pre-game to turn the Captain into a death company Captain, then deep strike him, Lemartes, and the DC in together and hit the enemy with a surprise charge, rerolling failed charges and hits in the fight phase. The Vanguard vets should have the staying power to last until they get a charge off if they fail their first roll, and are equipped to blow up whatever heavy armor the enemy has (usually only a single tank, see below). The reivers can come in from any other angle to grab objectives and otherwise act as a pop-up obstacle. Only having five also means I can make another squad from the same kit with carbines and switch them out depending on how they end up proving most useful.

I'm open to moving around and changing a bunch of stuff in this list, but want to keep the model count low and focus on moving fast and hitting hard. My local meta is very infantry focused, since we normally play around 1000pt games for casual play, with the occasional 1750pt. tournament every couple months. The low points value mean that most lists didn't bother including large, expensive tanks. I was one of the most armored lists, with two LR tanks, a Chimera, and a pair of armored sentinels in addition to my infantry. My main opponents are an Ultramarines/blood angels player, a guy who plays Thousand Sons, a few other marine/custodes/grey knights players of various flavors who come in only rarely, one other guard player who mostly uses Catachans and scions, a necron player, and a whole bunch of tyranid players.

Van City

Looks solid but I'm not a huge fan of reivers. Even with the BA bonus they are still so mediocre without any special weapons. Could they be swapped out for something?

They cost the same as my Death company, so I could switch them out for another unit of them or perhaps another character to boost my ground units, a lieutenant or something maybe. I'm a fan of the reivers' aesthetic, and thought they might be useful as just another angle of attack and grabbing objectives, but a unit of DC with bolters might do the same thing better...

At this point I'm debating between another unit of DC with chainswords and bolters, or a lieutenant and a bunch of upgrades for my existing DC unit such as PS, TH, or PF. I could equip the lieutenant with a MC stalker bolt rifle and camp him out with the sniper scouts, or give him the Auto Bolt rifle or PS and send him forwards with the main bulk of my ground troops. I have no experience with BA yet, and power weapons and assault tactics are also in a pretty different context compared to the AM. Guys who are more experienced than me, what say you?

More DC. Always more DC. I find five guys just lack the survivability needed - and losing one or two to overwatch can be critical. You should aim for a squad of 10, two armed with thunder hammers - but if you don't come up against vehicles all that often then keep em cheap with chainswords - weight of attacks win the day against most infantry.

Do you know what your sin is, Malcolm Reynolds?
Ah hell, I'm a fan of all seven.
But right now, I'm gonna have to go with wrath.

Alright, this is what I've sort of been looking at doing, with various small adjustments. For example, instead of giving the VVs plasma pistols and one DC a power sword and handflamer, I could just get a second hammer. However, I feel like putting the pistols on my dedicated tank hunting squad (who're also near a source of rerolling ones in the form of my captain) rather than sticking a hammer on a model in a chaff clearing squad is a better choice.
