So this is kindof a joke list I have had floating around in my head for a couple of days. Just starting to build and paint the minis. I doubt very much that it is actually competitive, but I want to try it just for fun.


Vanguard Detachment. 499 pts Catachan.

HQ: 2x Company commanders with Laspistols and Chainswords.

Troops: 5 Scions with Tempestor + flamer

Elites:
2x Command squads of 4 veterans armed with chainswords and laspistols.
1x Commissar Bolt pistol and Power Sword.
1x Master of ordinace
1x ministorum priest with Eviscerator



Heavy Support:
1x Manticore
1x Mortar team

Transport:
1x Chimera with Dozer blade.



The basic idea is to stuff the coy commanders, commissar and priest into the chimera (clown car) with both command squads. with everyone else at the back of the table taking rerolled 1's potshots.

When (If) the Clown Car makes it into combat, Each veteran will have 3 s4 attacks (thanks to the priest) plus 4 from each coy commader. plus the Fix Bayonets rule making them extra smashy in the shooting phase. Scions will jump onto the board wherever to fill in gaps.

Like I said, I doubt that this will be a massively competitive list, but may raise a few eyebrows when my clown car bursts open and a bunch of mad Catachan Bezerkers jump out and start smashing things up.

Thoughs?

Fun idea... and with the right distractions coming from elsewhere, it might just cross the board and break something. I've tried similar stunts, once with a Rhino full of Canonesses and Celestians, and also with a Chimera full of Bullgryns with Preacher and Inquisitors. Good times if you can make the delivery, and if it gets shot off the board, it probably means something else lived to do something important.

All depends on crossing the board... if you deploy 2nd and read LoS blocking terrain to cover your advance, or line up a shot at a unit you know will stick its head out, you might just get your box of goodies where it will do some good. If they get dismounted on the open, it's bad news. Especially with the extra characters that make the scheme work... it's free VPs if you opponent can crack the transport.
