Okay, traitor Commissar and Ogryn bodyguard?

Awesome. Wicked looking models, and IF they have the same faction keywords as the other traitor guard units in the original box, that's a big hit.

BUT...

They also included the ship card for a Drukari character that doesn't exist. Very confusing move: if they do eventually release the character, are they going to include the ship card in that set too?

As cool as the Traitor Guard baddies are, I would have rather had the full release of the Drukari explorer kit for a few reasons; first and foremost, Dark Eldar players have lost so many cool characters that they really need this; the last Blackstone release was a baddy kit- we need an explorer kit for variety, and finally, the traitor guard, though a cool looking collection of minis don't really have what it takes to be a full army even with this release.

You know, being Drukari, they could have included the model in the kit with rules to use him as both a bad guy and an explorer.

The Traitor Guard are building up to be a full army and I honestly expect a release of them very soon. With all the hints GW has dropped after the FW line went away? Yeah there's no way that they don't capitalize on it. Still, I do agree it'd be nice for a full release for the Dark Eldar explorer.

Blackstones release schedeule just seems to be a mess.

The first expansion came out relatively quickly after they announced it and then they dropped the info on the second one. They then sat on it for months before finally putting it out and we have no word on when we are getting the third one which is "hopefully" going to be an explorer.

I waited a really long time to buy in- budget is kinda tight. I'm kinda glad I did wait because I've got a lot of catching up to do.

I don't have the Ambull yet. I'd like to do a 40k mission where a small crack team of wyches escort a beast master into the lair of the ambull to capture it and take it back to the fighting pits and arenas.

After that, any time I defeated someone, I'd have to invite them to form a kill team from the slaves we capture and fight for their lives against our pet ambull.

Oh! And yeah, traitor guard are definitely coming as an army- they are the exact, perfect opponent for the sisters release. We've long been hypothesizing the possible of a rerelease of the box game with sisters vs some unknown force... Traitor guard fit nicely.

Others are hoping for Emperor's children, which would be cool, but it isn't as good a fit as traitor guard, given the whole hereticus connection.

If not a rerelease of the box game, then a box along the lines of Tooth and Claw.

A boxed set of Sisters vs Nids or GSC would be nice. I read one of the Black Library books about that one.

My WHFB armies were Bretonians and Tomb Kings.

of the major bad guys, 'nids are notable for not having been featured in a box. sisters vs
nids wou;dn't be a bad choice, although I'm not sure it's the most thematic. course the most thematic would be for GW to drop a suprise on us all and give us a sisters vs Lost and the Damned box

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

We've already been shown the 3rd one, it has the techpriest/servitor, psyker, crusader and peg leg lady plus 8 new renegade guard in. Think it was previewed last month.

The good.
Traitor guardsmen and R&H 2.0 basically confirmed.

The bad.
Jesus chriest do i look like i gak gold? have you seen the prices?!?

The ugly:
Why are there drukari parts in the traitor command box without the drukari in it?
Seems bad. Also for that price that dude surely could've been in there.

Cultists are not traitor guardsmen.
Both are integral parts of the lost and the damned /R&H but still different units.
Ones cannonfodder, the other is line infantry. (and also cannonfodder for the CSM but they are just medium level gakked on not like the cultists which get gakked on by everyone. AAAA the Smell of the Chaos Gak pyramid.)

I don`t think those are traitor guardsmen - they look more like chaos cultists (different datasheets)

They are cultists. No flak armour and autoguns, but both are good signs for a Lost and the Damned release.

Yeah lazy edit, I wrote it from memory before finding the link which says they're cultists.

Those exact poses? Probably not.

A kit or kits with the same aesthetic as part of a faction release? Possibly.

While GW doesn't seem to have bothered doing it (and it's a little silly how they do it anyway), they have the 3D models and could simply re-sprue them. That would mean multiple molds for the same figures though, which is unlikely.

And you wouldn't want those poses anyway. Since they offer no form of weapon customization.

Take those sprues with the ur-ghuls and beastmen. Remove the ur-ghuls and beastman, add the proper weapon loadout options. Done.

Having ships from other races are to incentivise picking up the expansion for the potential of having a new Explorer later down the line. Clever tactics but I haven't even cracked the cards on my copy of the base game yet or the Ambull expac so I'll give this one a pass for now.

As I'm collecting BSF, I may as well buy into R&H when they do come out with plastics separately.

This commissar thing reminds me of the old Deathwatch RPG requisition section. Your squad could requisition a commissar cohort to assist local guard. Funnily enough it never defined how many commissars were in said cohort. Naturally we jokingly assumed that meant it MUST mean a traditional first Roman cohort thus meaning 800 commissars. And if you spammed this requisition you could be deploying several thousand commissars to the battlefield. You could make entire regiments of just commissars.

Now THAT is a scary thought. If one commissar can help keep a regiment in line, an entire regiment of commissars would be absolutely terrifying.

Something I've been thinking they might do is actually release a "Blackstone Fortress Expanded Foes" box.

Just the sprues with the enemies and rules for bigger 'mobs' of enemies to deal with.
