Currently waiting on some basing materials to arrive, before i build up some rubble from a smashed wall under the knights foot. I should point out that i am having to buy/acquire all tools and materials from scratch as i have not worked on any figures in about a decade ha ha.
I'm not in any rush to battle anyone and i don't think there is many people local doing it, so i just fancied making something special for myself something i could sink time and effort into.

A lot of what i am doing i'm having to research and learn from tutorials as i'm doing it, this is my current colour scheme:
Skeleton: leadbelcher, nuln oil wash and then necron compound drybrush.
Armor: leadbelcher, Nuln oil shading, ironbreaker layer, runefang highlight.
Shoulders/knees: skeleton horde, not sure about shade for that.
Trim: Caliban green, maybe thinned a bit so can try get some of the shine through, do have warpstone and moot for highlighting/layering.

Toying with a very faint kind of silvery/blue wash over the armor. Would have to be ever so subtle though.

patiently waiting

Most of the basing/terrain stuff has been ordered or purchased now so just time lol.

Im going to replace the shoulder mounted missile launchers on the valiant with the cannon off the crusader,
and i wanted to make them a little more unique so i am going to use a couple of skitari i have laying around and have them manning them.
I just used one of the standard gun arms but had to bend it out a bit hence why he looks a bit peculiar but when hes attached it wont be so bad ha ha

Its a bit rough yet but this is how its looking at the moment, might get the gunmetal to more of a silver but i got the dark green in there and the bone and the grey/silver

i started on the shoulder pieces today, i wanted to see how my take on the steel confessor colours would go.
im happy with it although now i think about it it may end up looking too close to that one knight house because of the green.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Maybe switch out for a darker bone colour, dunno yet.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also i used all GW paints.
Undercoated in Leadbelcher
Trim in Caliban Green, then washed in Nuln Oil and dry brushed in Warpstone Glow.
'Silver' side is Ironbreaker with Nuln Oil shade.
the not bone looking side >> Wraithbone, then shaded with seraphim sepia.
And then some Warpstone Glow edge highlights where it will join the Canopy.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Did a little bit more this afternoon, was a bit faster doing this bigger area now that im sure what im doing with the colours etc

Automatically Appended Next Post:
not sure im sold on the warpstone as a highlight for the caliban, but either way i'll try tidying it up a bit later without making more issues haha not the steadiest of hands. I will get rid of the layer of warpstone at the bottom edge of the canopy as i don't think its supposed to be there or at least it does'nt seem right

yeh ok so the rock was terrible, chopped up this pillar at an angle that will do nicely. Also the genestealers arrived

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Ok, couple changes. Im going to switch out the balthazar gold for retributor armor it looks so much nicer on this.
And i tried edge highlighting the chainbreaker with white fang, i can tidy the white and green highlights a bit hopefully.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Im really not that keen on the highlighting though, it doesnt look good at all if you cant do it super fine.

The rest of the materials i was waiting on arrived so i made a start on the base.

And i had another go at the canopy and i think i made it a bit better, removed some of the highlights entirely and thinned out some more, a few more touch ups needed but its getting there.

As i am developing my idea further, i think i will be creating a 1st company terminator/vet/assault/heavy metal Steel Confessor force.
I have been slowly acquiring the various command units in termy armour or close enough ones i can convert, and then i got to the tech marine and i thought well he might as well be something special especially with this chapters roots in the martian mechanicus.

So i came up with this so far its pretty rough and ye its random images chopped up but i like it so far:

legs off a crusader, chassis of a dune crawler, classic metal jet bike techy, and then stick a Icarus cannon on top and maybe something else if i can jam it on it somewhere, it does look strange without an arm on it so maybe add a knight arm on one side of the chassis or something ><
And then i have enough parts for a converted knight as well.

Looking at ork deth mechanical arms kan arms etc see if they are a similar scale to a dunewalker chassis

Thanks a lot man.
Im looking at it now and i can see where i can improve it already i dont need so much green on the canopy next time really it should be more trim than as prominent as i have made it i think.

Either way here we are with all the armour on but not fin painting yet i just fancied seeing it all together.

And i can also see ill need to edge the shoulders and front bits as they stand out more without it haha

Bit more done today just base left and some touch ups.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I bought the genestealers off ebay with some already painted, i liked them as their natural running position on some of he models conveniently also looked like they were laying down at least the top half of them.
Anyway, i wont mess with them too much just give them a little shade and neaten them up a bit as i can just rubble over them as much as needed to mask the nastyness

Automatically Appended Next Post:
so less green on the canopy, ill try sticking with iron breaker and see if stormhost silver is light enough to edge over that and be visible. Both shoulders and knee pads should be bone either side then silver on the rest.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I dont want to change or mess with this too much after a certain point as it will be a good gauge of me progressing my skills with future models.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I have some 3D printed parts for another Dominus knight at some point, bigger waist, extra armour pieces etc a shield and some other bits. So i think ill get a castellan, "Fortress Maximus - Guardian Of The Forge'' as it will be a beast with all the extra stuff i have for it.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also wondering what the size difference between an armiger warglaives chainsword and a Dominus weapon, because i am thinking of using a couple of them as underslung or at least 1.

Thank you.

I started on the base, just some glue and gravel/sand mix. will wait for it to dry then see how much falls off and then add a bit more on if needed.
Then when its sufficient i will put on a few dead grass tufts and maybe a shade over it i dunno id prefer it a little earthier but i dunno

I had a bit more time this morning so put some grass on the base.

Just waiting on some decent sealant coming to make sure none of the loose crap moves haha, then ill varnish the whole thing after ive put the decals on.

As far as the decals are concerned i have the correct printer paper ready to go i have vector images of my 'take' on the steel confessors icon (also a split version for the dominus shoulder), also have microsol and set on the way to help.

Managed to get some more stuff ordered for my infantry aswel and a base model for a slightly custom inquisitor im gonna add to my force.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Just evaluating my own basing and i can see i should have probably base painted my green stuff, and maybe gone over a couple of bits again with the gravel and then maybe even shaded it a bit i really dont know.

Put my apothecary together finally and i got my castellan crowe model and lopped its head off, am gonna use him as a custom inquisitor. He has enough iconography on him to pass off as one allready.

Ok then i had my first go at using simple green to strip paint off some miniatures yesterday,

the standard marine was one that came with a paint set and i painted and the terminator was bought like that. (lord knows what they used on the termy hehe).

Everywhere i could reach with my toothbrush on the marine it came right off.

Tried making my own transfers and they failed. I didn't bother taking pictures because well they sucked haha. Ill try getting the paper warmer and drier next time i try.
Anyway i still have some normal transfers i can put on the valiant so i guess no more procrastinating time to dig in now that i have the microset/sol and various varnishes ready to go i can get most of the body done.
Then just paint the guns for the top and give it a nice coat of testors all over.

Im on the fence wether i should leave spaces for some steel confessors transfers when/if i can get them going. or just stick the knights ones i have all over it and any bigger marine ones i have that are relevant.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Nearly done, transfers on and lacquered.

Bit more work done this weekend, been a bit busy so not that much unfortunately.

Got most of the pieces i want for my selection of HQ/Elites/Command to start with assembled and undercoated.

Also assembled and sprayed a Termy squad while i was at it. equipped the one dude with an assault cannon and chainfist, think that is doable unless i misread the rules

Also just about to attempt nail polish stripping on some mk2 veterans i got off ebay.
