Hey guys, I have this experimental list that I think may be quite a good take all comers. Have a look and let me know what you think. All Cadian.

Battalion 1
2x Company commander, Power maul/Boltgun
5x10 man infantry squad, 3xAutocannon

Battalion 2
Company commander, shotgun
5x10 man infantry 3xAutocannon
3x3 mortar HW teams

Lord of war
3x Macharius vulcan, heavy stubber

1 assassin, probably a Callidis or culuxs.

My plan against vehicle heavy/knights it to use the autocannons like marker lights to get overlapping fields of fire and then unleash the vulcans on whatever i'm trying to kill. Also the Vulcan can do great hoard control. The astropaths and enginseers will try to keep the vulcans alive a bit longer. Creed will shout at the mortars to take aim and try and wipe units hiding near objectives or wherever extra anti infantry is needed.

Hmmm, interesting but I don't think it will work in practice.

For the strat to work the autocannons have to cause a wound. Against a knight thats a tall order. Hit on 4s, wound on 5's and hope they dont rotate ion shields. Statistical you're looking at one unsaved wound that gets through, lets hope you roll well!

And all this to get +1 bs? Why not take a Shadowsword that has a built in +1 vs superheavy? Or a Salamander command tank that gives you +1 bs?

The Macharius vulcan are ok but even with the +1 bs its going to take two of them to down a knight. A shadowsword can do that by itself without having to have 10 units of guardsmen backing it up.

Fair points. 1 wound is all you need for the stratigem of course! (Plus often I will re roll 1s for Cadian) The Idea of the vulcans was that they could also deal with hoards and 3 of them have far more wounds than 2 Baneblade types. I was trying to create some duality that wasn't Knights. There is some other stuff. Rotating Ion shields won't help against -1 autocannons, in fact if I can bait that out that's a huge win for me. Perhaps heavy bolters would be better in this particular case? I think a salamander only helps 1 tank? The strat helps all 3. I can also use the warlord trait old grudges to re roll all wounds against the largest knight putting a lot of turn 1 pain on him.

Ok I have swapped out a vulcan for a Banesword with 2 Las/HB sponsons. That Should help with the more hardened targets/monsters. I had to drop the assassin to fit him in.
