We're producing a Deathwatch group for an online FPS mod for 40k. However, We're not sure what the rank structure should be for the group (the lore can get pretty messy).
Basically, I've come here to ask you guys because if anyone will know it is DakkaDakka!
We need a structure that fits the lore and also suits a gaming community, so we'd need
1. A low rank for Recruits.
2. A standard Rank for the average player.
3. A higher rank for the long term players not in leadership positions.
4. A rank for leadership on a squad level.
5. Ranks for leadership on a company level.
6. A rank for the admins of the group (the people who run everything).

So far stuff we have read has been pretty conflicting and doesn't show a clear rank structure.

Veteran (1 and 2), Champion (3), Sergeant (4, commands between 3 to 10 marines), Captains (5, 10-40 marines), Watch Master. There are also chaplains and librarians who might do 4 or 5, depending on watch station. Old FFG rpg might have some more info but in any event, most of it was not canon, barely above glorified fanfiction, and few if any bits were incorporated to new DW books so I'd be careful with using it as a source.
