Hello all,
More 8th ed action. I met up with a friend at the local game shop for a 2500pt throw down. I am still working on my Dark Elves and my buddy is using his proxied Ogre army, which is always cool to see.
On to the armies!
Dark Elves
Level 4 Sorcerer w/Dark Magic, Level 2 w/Lore of Beasts, Kouron,
BSB
29 Spearelves
10 Crossbows, and 2 Bolt Throwers
10 more Crossbows, alas unpainted
6 Dark Riders w/Shields & Crossbows. Just remember skinny lizard = Dark Rider
10 Cold One Knights w/standard of Discipline. Fat lizard = Cold One

WIP Black Guard
Hydra, this time from the Dark Elf book
The Ogre Horde!
Going from left to Right. Blue dude is a Gorger, Purple guy is a Firebelly, Mournfang cav, big guy is a Giant. Dogs up front are Sabretusks.
Armourd Crossbows are Leadbelchers, next to them is a unit of Ogres w/Iron Fists
1) Butcher w/Lore of Death, 2)
BSB, 3) Slaughter Master w/Gut Magic, more Sabretusks
Set Up
Kouron is with the Black Guard, the level 2 is next to them. My Level 4 is hanging with the Spearelves. The Dark Riders vanguarded up and are just beyond that highly accurate Pringles can.
Dark Elves Turn 1
Not much going on. Killed one Sabretusk on the right and put Curse of Anraheir on the Leadbelchers.
Ogres Turn 1
Even cursed the Leadbelchers manage to take out 2 Cold One Knights.
Dark Elves Turn 2
Hydra Charges the Sagbretusks on the right, wipes them out and over runs into the Burtcher. Cursed the Leadbeltchers again. Level 4 casts Word of Pain on the big unit of Ogres and Power of Darkness on the Spearelves. Crossbows put some wounds on the Sabretusks to the left.
Ogres Turn 2
Mournfangs charge the Black Guard
The Black Guard beat the Mournfangs and reform to wait for the Orgres. The Hydra whiffs on the Butcher. Firebelly ducks behind the trees on the left to avoid the Cold One Knights.
Dark Elves Turn 3
Level casts Wildform on the Black Guard. Hydra is exchanging wounds with the Butcher. Shooting takes out a few ogres from the big unit. Cold One Knights charge and take out the Leadbeltcher.
Ogres Turn 3
The Gorger shows up behind my lines. The Giant charges the Hydra and Headbutts him. The Hydra only manages a single wound back. Ogres chage the Black Guard and win, but the Guard are unbreakable thanks to Kouran. Kouran issues a charge which is accepted by the Slaughter Master. Wildfrom helps cut through a lot of Ogres.
Dark Elves Turn 4
Combined shooting from the Bolt Throwers and Crossbows eliminate the Gorger threat. In a surprising turn of events the Giant Yells & Balls, the Hydra flees and is run down
. Level 2 puts Wildform back to the Black Guard. Level 4 puts Word of Pain on the ogres again. Kouran kills the Slaughter Master the Ogres win but the Black Guard are still Unbreakable. The Cold One Knights charge, beat, and run down the Mournfangs.
Ogres Turn 4
The Firebelly charges the Dark Riders and roast them to a crisp with his Breath Weapon. The ogres finally break and are run down by the Black Guard.
So we call it there, it’s getting late and the Ogres decide they don’t have enough left to deal with the Dark Elves. Dark Elves Victory!
I am liking the Dark Elves. I think the extra sorcerer was worth changing my list for, Wildform really beefed up the back guard. The Dark Riders didn’t do much besides distract the Giant for a turn, but hey I’ll take that. I was so pleased after this I finished the Black Guard the next day.
Only one unit of Crossbows left an it will be a break from painting elves for a while and move onto Beastmen. I think I will bounce back and forth between playing those two armies for a while and see how things go.
