Is Inquisition being removed from 40k? With the removal of index units not supported by codexes I get very worried for my inquisitor and his acolytes. I very much enjoy creating themed armies around a central inquisitor figure and now I’m worried this will not be available anymore. I usually attend one yearly tournament and often build a new army for every tournament. It’s commonly my yearly 40k project and pretty much what keeps me in the hobby these days. Thing is I have twice before (and this upcoming year) based my army around an inquisitor and his team. I’m legitimately very worried that my favorite faction will be removed. Am I right in being worried or will acolytes/inquisitors be supported in psychic awakening, WD or get some online rules?

His pattern of returning alive after being declared dead occurred often enough during Cain's career that the Munitorum made a special ruling that Ciaphas Cain is to never be considered dead, despite evidence to the contrary.

I would really hope not, as honestly Inquisition stuff is like an un tapped gold mine. Most imperial players would gobble them up I am pretty confidant on that considering they'd be a great splash faction.

In short, yes. They will be relegated to "Legends" status, which if the "rule of three" is any indication will become the de facto standard for matched play despite it not being a matched play rule.

Assuming they don't make a Supplement for the Inquisition like they have in the past turning the Inquisition into a non-faction faction. i.e. something that requires Imperium, but doesn't count as a Faction'ed unit like Fortifications to allow them in armies without removing faction bonuses like Scions.

My WHFB armies were Bretonians and Tomb Kings.

yeah I could see GW putting Inqusitors into other sources, a campaign book would be an ideal place to put say a datasheet for a "ordos xenos inqusitor" etc

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

This makes me sad.

Even if they do that though, it's entirely possible we get completely new Inquisitors with loadouts that can't be accurately represented with the old models.

Hopping the sisters of silence don't suffer the same fate. Especially considering how many players in my Meta use them a long side Custodes,,, from the Talons of the Emperor box days.

As an aside, as "infinite" rolls is actually impossible even if the FAQ "allows" it, then it will always be a non-zero chance to pass them all. Eventually the two players will die. If they pass the game on to their decendents, they too will eventually die. And, at the end of it all, the universe will experience heat death and it, too, will die. In the instance of "infinite" hits, we're talking more of functional infinity, rather than literal.

RAW you can't pass the game onto descendants, permissive ruleset. Unless we get an FAQ from GW.

Tough one to call. They could get Legended, or I could easily see Custodes 2.0 dex coming out with full Talons added in with HQ choices for SoS etc.

Probably. But the Index has not been in print for a long time and with the Legends will be basically made obsolete. And they won't make a codex for one unit. And then there's Greyfax and the Assassins too. It will be interesting to see how this is handled. As recently said in another thread, they should really make 'Imperial Agents' codex. Put the Inquisition, Assassins, SoS, the Rogue Traders and other assorted BSF bits and bops in it. Write the rules so that you can easily ally them to your main Imperial army without losing your army benefits.

Of course I would absolutely love to see Inquisition expanded. It is the coolest faction in the game, and has been completely neglected for a long time.

Greyfax being in plastic also makes it unlikely. They may get an Index in WD to keep them viable, although I do feel that GW wants them to be more of a background character rather than one on the tabletop.

We don't have any hard information on what they plan to do with the Inquisition yet. We don"t even know when they'll be rolling out Legends. They could always stick the faction into Chapter Approved and do a public beta like they did Sisters, or drop a new codex right before the Psychic Awakening (which may not even start until next year).

We just don't have enough information to make definitive statements at this time.

One tiny thing that gives me hope is that recent plastic Crusader with a huge Inquisition logo on his shield.

Crusaders have an Ecclesiarchy I (you can tell because of the sunburst instead of the bars) and were in the Sisters codex.

That said, they started out as Inquisitorial Henchmen and have been an option for the Inquisition too.

Actually GW will sell you index 2 in print today, dont confuse legends with index these are two seperate things.
Index 2 is apparently staying around untill GW get the fingers out hopefully.
Legends was specifically to cover model's that GW no longer sell

I'd say it's more likely they will be sidelined since they don't fit GW's current design philosophy that ever option needs a bit, and options in general are being slimmed down. I looked at the old witch/demon hunter codex the other day and the number of options is staggering compared to most current codexes.

GW isn't going to produce a full plastic line to support that level of choice and it doesn't want to give anything rules that it doesn't currently sell. This leaves a faction that should have more choices than almost any other on the outside looking in.

Oh, you're right, they still sell Index 2! Still,it is a bizarre situation. The only things in that that haven't had a codex or a WD update are the Inquisition and SoS.

I would be super sad to see them go, I have run them a few times and mostly just felt they gut my army every time I did.

They should at least be getting real support in kill team, but I feel at this stage kill team is still the second child at best to GW.

I expect Index: Imperium 2 to remain available until GW produces rules, either via Codex, supplement, White Dwarf, or Chapter Approved for all models they currently produce that have their rules there. That means they need to produce rules for Inquisition and Sisters of Silence. Those rules will only cover models currently in production. Everything else in the Index will end up in Legends.

Very confident there will be an Agents of the Imperium dex that includes all of the same models as the Apocalypse Agents of the Imperium download.

If you haven't seen it yet, it includes all of the Inquisition Units, the Rogue Traders, the Sisters of Silence and a few others.

Having said that, I hope they add some new units too and updated rules (Ordo specific Psychic powers, Warlord Traits, Relics and strategems). Most importantly, Inquisitorial units need an exemption fro the Battle Brothers rule so that the Imperium keyword is enough to join a detachment without breaking it.

Finally, even though I am 90% sure we will get this content, I bought Karamazov and Greyfax just in case, and I plan on getting 2 or even 3 units of SoS as well... Just in case. We know that at the very least, their rules will be frozen in Legends, so the money isn't wasted.

PS- Also, I've been told the "I" with the skull is an Ecclesiarchy Symbol, not the inquisition =][=; when the Nova preview dropped, the "I" was there, and I assumed that it was Ecclesiarchy, as I had been told. Then the updated the graphic to include the Fleur de Lis.

Now the Ecclesiarchy units are all considered to be short hand "Sororitas" units, and they can only be fielded as a Spearhead detachment wiithout Sisters.

Meaning the graphc ddn't need both the Fleur and the "I"
Meaning that maybe in this case, the "I" does mean Inquisition.

Because here's the thing: given the Hereticus Role in dealing with witches and psykers, if they don't get content for Psychic Awekening, then we are VERY unliikely to see content for them ever.

The Emperor Protects. I have faith.

If you're talking about this image:

The I on the top right is Deathwatch. Fleur-de-lys is Sisters. No Inquisition here.

But I wouldn't have a freak out just yet since there a number of ways they could put them on the table.

No one thinks they'd keep some of the mofels and condense into a WD codex?

I've been wondering if they're going to roll them back with their militant arm books actually.

I would be completely unsurprised if the Inquisition was done with a White Dwarf Index. The current range of models is very small:
  • Eisenhorn
  • Inquistor Coteaz
  • Inquistor Greyfax
  • Inquistor Karamazov
  • Inqusitor: Three models, all with Power Sword and ranged weapon
  • Jokaero Weaponsmith
  • Warrior Acolyte
  • Crusaders: Shared with Adeptus Ministrorum and Astra Militarism
  •

    your mind

Inquisitors will be 40euro single model HQs,
plastic, dual build monopose with 17 str:7 dam:d3 [weapon we have never seen modelled before](tm) attacks when charged
    for 80 points
to be used with any GW model kit to play 40K games.

They’d be crazy to remove or downplay the Inquisition when they have an Eisenhorn series coming out to boost model and book sales.

I don't see why they wouldn't do that. Look at vigilus for example, a whole demonic forge poped up on it. You would think that a planent being over run with demons and demonic engines would warrent action from Grey Knights, and they weren't even there.

So just because new lore pops up in a book, it doesn't automaticly mean there is going to be any inquisition rules in w40k.

If you have to kill, then kill in the best manner. If you slaughter, then slaughter in the best manner. Let one of you sharpen his knife so his animal feels no pain.
