I always surprised by the older RT models on eBay continually reposted Buy it Now for £20-30 each. Even some bog standard infantry are £15 a go. Who is buying them? Anyone?
I love the older ranges because I grew up with them, but it’s a shame it’s all become an absurdly priced collectors market.

Bit of a flashback for any old-school Blood Bowl fans:
Go on the Blood Bowl pages of the Games Workshop website and there is a team profile of The Doomlords.
They were Andy Chambers actual team in the GW league, I remember seeing a piece on them in an old WD, all custom converted.
They also refer to the head coach as a mysterious individual called the Overfiend: another of AC's aliases.

Nice selection Nev. Like the snow on the smurf bases. Automatically Appended Next Post: I'll chuck in a few vintage oddities too.
I painted this guy up as a stand-alone bad guy for a game where a fallen Psycher has corrupted and turned a local PDF to his own nefarious ends.
Sold this guy (sad face)
One of the old box set knights from way back. Painted him up as a lost Knight for my Wood Elves army to... Employ? Mislead? Enchant? You know, one minute you're a basic plastic knight in a box set, you get "lost in the woods" and the next thing you know you're a hero in a Wood Elves army. Happens all the time.
Another fate that may befall such a knight is to become hopelessly enamoured of LFC and wander the Old World singing "You'll never walk alone."

The only good knight is a dead knight. Or undead wight. Close enough.
The theme of my old undead army was “undead bretonians” and were focused around a core unit of Wights of the Realm. They were the anvil upon which many armies broke.

Struggling to find decent pics of them, but got lucky on a FB trading page, and picked me up some classic 40k Squigs. Including the Grabber Slasher and Spider Tyranid. There’s also another six diddy Squiggly Beasts.
Paid £10, turns out they go for around £7 each on eBay. Didn’t know that when I nabbed them!

Squigs it is then!
Got a bunch more of these in need of a bath in something caustic. Always worth giving some vintage metal some love.
Nice job on your FB-fu MadDoc. Looking forward to seeing them classic squiggly beasts some time.

There’s at least one more, a tiny round one. £7 each? Golly, I have loads of them as I went to Nottingham years ago and bought a couple of bags of them for a few quid. Now they seem to be rattling around in boxes of bits and miniatures everywhere.
I found this in the cupboard the other day, and yes all the inks are still inside.

I still use the inks for that box. Some more than others. The green frequently, but just the other day I needed the yellow. Not a lot of call for that one, but it was nice to have on hand to help smooth out the transitions on a flaming sword.

I paid a heck of a lot more than that for a grabber-slasher a few years ago. Just after I did, another one appeared for a fiver, Buy-it-now. I'q quite like the spider one to complete my 1st edition Tyranid collection, but not at the prices I always seem to find 'em at.

The spider one I’ve never seen for sale, actually. They used to come in packs with orks, buy a painboy or a mek, and you’d get a tiddly squig in there too. Why are they so sought after?

Happy Friday peeps!
Going to get my Ork army up in running in terms of playtesting it with the new codex and rooted out these guys to join the Waaaagh. Will strip and redo most of them but I think Zogrod and the painboy held up well enough through the eons of time.

Good God, Howard. I remember buying that Emperor's Champion, ugh. Alright, gotta get in on this thread and establish some Old Gamer cred!
Here's some Orcs I recently put some finishing touches on. The Black Orc boss is Finecast (it's a really good cast, but I'm still not a fan of the stuff) that I scored in a bag of other plastic Black Orcs at GenCon two years ago (10 bucks for 5 Black Orcs was a real steal, when this guy was one of them!)
But his friends, oh....his friends are all off the same sprue (minus one Arrer boy who is painted but didn't make the pic as he isn't based yet) from when they came in a WHFB starter set. And to top it all off, I never got them from the Starter box. These guys were bought separate as an 8 dollar sprue from when GW still had an online Bitz Store. So they are well-deserving of finally being painted, lol.
They are all part of my growing skirmish force, which is very much a blend of the old and the new, with everything from Shadespire heroes to metal and plastic Feral Boar Boyz., and a conversion made from the metal leader from the Regiments of Renown crossbow boyz, also bought from the old Bitz Store.
On the 40K side of things I am still building on my Eldar force, here's a Scorpion (using an original-release Wave Serpent FW hull, I just swap out the two different turrets), and a Vyper from when they first came out (I still have the White Dwarf from when they premiered and the 2nd edition datafax that came in it).
