@Perfect Organism,

Oh, good catch! Are there any rumors of Nurgle getting updated in 40k?

You know that "Æ" is an actual character and that was used for nordic people, who also happenend to be the "creators" of the word, right?

I really like it because of that reason but on the other hand it's boring because it's still just elf. Now Aeldari or something else mystical sounding would've been a better idea for them. (IMO)

Which doesn't actually help them all that much. Wasn't it ruled acceptable to make any addon parts as you want as long as you include "compatible with GW's Imperial Guard line of miniatures" Having people change that text to say Astra Militarum seems less than worth it.

My guess is that the IP is worth more than the models. Or maybe that's what they're calculating. Rights to video games, movies what have you. Maybe?

oh and... the reason I searched this out was because I saw a Warhammer community link regarding 8th ed rumors. Looking for that discussion.... is that here or elsewhere?
Rumors like:
- bringing back the Movement Value per model
- no more initiative in the assualt?
- bonuses for all one race
- morale change to something like 5th/6th ed fearless.

Is that on this thread?

Well that's not the racial title change like in AoS. Imperial guard is to astra Militarum what space marine is to Adeptus Astartes. To apply AoS name changes you'd have human become humyn for example.

Besides IP it also helps differentiate the setting from others when someone's looking for information and models.

No, people don't dislike the spelling because of the spelling itself, they dislike the renaming, no matter what it is renamed to, because the reasons for the renaming are crap.

Speaking about renaming, its a shame they don't go all aboard and rename goblins as "Gobbos". Grots its just meh.

Why call them Duardin when they can be "Stunties"?

That's meant to say Dwarfs, I hope? Otherwise this insulting misspelling of a proud races' name will go right into the book of grudges

I'm not fond of the renames myself and they probably hurt themselves with online searches. Searching for "Orc weapon compatible with GW Orruk Brutes" will show third party kits while searching for both "Orruk" and "Orc", but searching for "Orc", as most newcomers would probably do, won't show them GW's new range. But I don't have to call them that, just like I don't have to move my armies from their Old World settings in my mind. Who'll force me? And if they should fight agains AoS exclusive races or minis, well that was clearly just a dream the general was having

People actually call them Astra Militarum? For real, I've not heard it said once from anyone but a GW employee

I could understand their motivation for the various name changes... if they offered any! If nothing else, their execution of the changes was pretty poor IMO.

Given the name change occurred at the height of GW's Age of Darkness as part of its insane 'MAKE EVERYTHING COPYRIGHTABLEWJSWGJESGEHGIEG'... I'd be very surprised if within another two editions they don't just change it back to 'Imperial Guard'. They'll still use Astra Militarum for the High Gothic organisational charts the same way they do Adeptus Astartes, but everything from store branding to company talk will go back to the Guard.

I think even GW employees stopped trying to refer to them as Astra Militarum.

Are we really going to go through the whole Inception like multi level off topic to discover the whinging about AoS names was nothing to do with the topic either? Nor is 99% of the permawhinge?

But by all means pick posts in the middle of loads of off topic and tell us how terrible we are

I'm not telling anyone is terrible, but I will throw a bucket of fresh sense to chill out some guys if I can.

Ah, so via pointless hyperbole. Gotcha.

Maybe not waste yours or (more importantly) everyone else's time in future with this sort of petty nitpicking? If one can demonstrate an opinion is held by more than one person, as has been done, then saying 'we' is perfectly acceptable.
