I think ‘blipping’ is absolutely the right term. Hopefully I don’t need to explain why.

Suffice to say I’ve enjoyed every MCU entry, and feel somewhat starved of new entries.

If anything can shake off franchise fatigue without a reboot, it should be the MCU.

Downside? Maybe enough folk have delved into enough media to find the MCU’s offerings a bit passé?

Not in “OMG these films are the awful”. More “I’ve had sod all else to do than reset to Indy movies, and actually enjoyed more than a few”

I think Spiderman 2, Wandavision and Falcon made for a nice little epilogue to the Infinity war Saga, allowing us to go forth with more things.

I agree with Grotsnik that the 1 year gap was a blessing in disguise for the MCU. Let them slow down, and let everyone get past Endgame and into wanting new stuff.

That is an aggressive line-up of movies. It seems hard to believe they can keep up that level of momentum and skill with that pace.
I doubt that's their intent. If not for COVID, we would have already seen Black Widow, Shang Chi and Eternals. This year would've just been Spider-Man, Thor and maybe one other. They're playing catch up.

Im most excited for Eternals. Not because I particularly care about any of those characters, but the MCu only ever goes back in time to reveal something to move the story forward. Back to the 40s to show Captain America. Back to the 90s to show Cap Marvel and the Skrulls and the Kree Skrull War. Eternals is going to take place over -Thousands- of years and include the celestials apparently. What are they really going to be showing us and why? This could be some galactus gak. This could be some beyonder level gak. This could be a lot of things. It's by far the most interesting because of it.

What a video - but then I'm a sucker for that kind of thing. Lot's of things to look forward....

Is it me or is the stylized '4' at the very end a bit too much like the logo of a fantastic group whose waited a looooong time for a decent movie?

I think it's a definite hint at the Fantastic 4.

I wouldn’t even call it a hint. Its so blatant they’re slapping you across the face with it.

I am kind of wondering if we might be seeing the Illuminati come together in the MCU style. Reed is about to join up, Xavier will most definitely be close behind. Namor and Black Bolt soon? Stark is clearly out for now. I don't think his leaving is set in stone though. I never really read much about it the end of his contract and feelings towards a new one.

Well Kang is coming.

In the comics it was revealed that Tony was actually a plant by Kang to sow discord in the past. To stop him the Avengers grabbed a teenage Tony from the past before he was manipulated by Kang and bought him to the future. That teen Tony is the one that got dumped into the alternate reality created by Franklin Richards when he beat Onslaught and created the Heroes Reborn which resulted in him being an adult again when he came out.

So maybe we get a time displaced teen tony? But why when we have Riri Wlliams Iron Heart coming?

Also comics are complicated and dumb lol.

Iron Lad also IS Kang as a teen so....

I honestly hate Kang. Everyone one of his stories is just dumb continuity management. I can't think of a single one that's actually any good.

It's not a hint. It's just reiteration. They already confirmed a new Fantastic 4 at the big Investor Meeting thing ages ago when they revealed the D+ show lineup. They even announced the film's director - Jon Watts - the guy who's done the last 3 Spider-Man films.

He will.

It makes good sense too. Kang generally shows up to be all "Your fething with the past is erasing my future!"

Well, Antman is now directly responsible for the time platform the Avengers just used which was fueled by Pym Particles. Kang would come target him.

Or it’s a trip to the future that alerts Kang to time travel being possible?

Really, really looking forward to all of these. Crazy to think just how many are slated for release in a two year window.

I suspect its going to depend heavily on how the Loki show squares the circle (or just retcons) the whole mess of time travel vs parallel dimension jumping in the MCU.

I won't be at all shocked if the end credits for Loki have Kang getting prepped for Ant & Wasp 3.

That’s true. Though I do kinda suspect we’ll see Loki make a glorious mess of things, because that is his nature.

I have been watching Avengers: Earths Mightiest Heroes (the best Avengers cartoon btw) and it got me thinking about Kang.

What if introducing Kang (or a Kang at least) in Ant-Man is also a back door introduction to Iron Lad down the line? Not this phase. Not this movie. But eventually. Once you introduce Kang, if they do even HALF the crap that character implies throughout all time and history and fractured time line versions then you get all kinds of crazy stuff.

Kang, as Rama Tut, is partially responsible for Apocalypse as an example. Also, Kang is adecendant of either Dr Doom or Reed Richards or both depending on time line. That guys all over the shop.

Just saying, good gak could be on the way.

I mean, sure. One of the side-effects of parallel world jumping and time travel is it justifies literally anything. They don't even need to do the work any more, just 'shock reveal' that someone's from somewhen else/some reality elsewhere.

Far From Home already gave us the subversion of that.

Scotland, but nowhere near my rulebook

Does MODOK count as an MCU show? It just turned up on the Star section of D+

Just watched the first episode. It.... exists?

My understanding is that it was the last wave of the TV Studio projects before it was shut and all brought under one umbrella, so it's Marvel but not MCU.

Yup. This was in the batch with Helstrom. Everything but this and Helstrom got canned (presumably they were so early in development that it would cost basically nothing to kill them then. Helstrom had probably already started actual fiming and so did this honestly (it takes an insane amount of time and work to make those dolls and animate them).

Modok is ok. It gets a bit better after the first episode or two. I probably have better things to watch on my list but this is pretty low effort being short English episodes.

I found out today that MODOK is heavily influenced by a 5 issue miniseries called MODOK Headspace.

Look at this gak hahaha.

I am honestly surprised by that. I really thought the family was dumb enough to be unique to the show.

I know!

I thought the same thing. Then I was googling MODOK when talking to a friend about the character (they don't know much about comics so we just bs about whatever dumb comic thing we are watching) and I found out all about this. Allen is even in the Headspace miniseries. It's amazing. The AIM headquarters is exactly the same as the comic. The family is all there. Stealing a small amount of Ironman's tech as the opening conflict.

It makes the show more impressive that it's managed to incorporate so much source material into this.

Given up on MODOK, as it’s just a bit too left field for me.

However, Loki on Wednesday, and I for one am excite! Fingers crossed it’s three for three in the tv show quality department.

I am So looking forward to Loki. I’m not even watching trailers anymore. Don’t need to see more stuff in advance, I’m already sold.

Modok was ok. It watched the whole thing, and it wasn’t terrible. I initially didn’t like it but watched a few and it got better. Is it getting more seasons? I know it was on the tail end of them switching gears with the Marvel shows. It definitely ends with stuff unresolved though.
