Easy, silver base, then wash black, then wash agrax use silver to add scratchy bits then wash sepia and black in recesses. adjust washes and scratching to suit.

So the dodgy greenstuff worked enough and the statue looks pretty good, well, good enough for the board and then as a scatter terrain piece I cut some foam board for the jagged rocks and roughly greened (or rather, brownstuffed) a different snout and some ears and hooves and used Ghaz Thraka's horns left over from when I built him up!

Then I gave him two coats of granite coat, which I may add does actually dry a lot smaller than originally applied and didn't exactly hide the details as much as I thought it would once dried I primed it and painted it with no real plan, I just went for stone appearance and weathered as I saw fit to hide the ugly parts the next step is the water effects if there's nothing else needed for the main fountain? I did consider continuing the mossy lichen into tendrils of Ivy wrapped around parts? or adding small flowers in the mossy base? but I don't want to be too ott

and after a bit of work today, this is where it stands, i did indeed use some clump foliage wixed with wash to make the lichen/moss










and I primed and brushed over the balcony too, it looks pretty much like plain Balsa again but it's not, and is textured which I tried to show in the pics, I also stuck some balsa strips on top of the railing and across the bottom which will offset the pale stone once it's varnished a dark stain.

I think for a piece of terrain it came out looking great. Interesting enough to glance at, but not enough to keep you away from the models.

Really nice work bud, don't be so down on the sculpt, looks pretty great to me.

I may be late, so sorry, but may I suggest some staining from the pipes prior to the water effects. Just a very loose wash to add the effect of water damage over the millennia.

The Armies on parade is in October but I want to complete them in advance since I'm going away, still the Nurgle board to do but I think that will take some Damo-esque thinking to get a good balance of gross and believable with a hint of cool! :-)

Cam, I will have a look at that as i'm pouring the resin tonight for the first layer in the bottom, just gotta find some fishing line to run the resin down for the spouts. and then I should probably paint the actual army!

Also I need to buy Yvraine to paint, does anyone out there either know of a cheap box or someone who doesn't need her? I'm going to paint her up for my Neice for Christmas but the ones on ebay have stupid postage costs :-(

Just a little update, I poured the resin in a colour I thought appropriate for clean but aged water and started the power swords on a couple of guys! not very exciting but progress none the less! just need to do the spouts when it dries!

Now the question is this, is the yellow painted with too much contrast? the tabard should be yellow because he's a librarian but my style looks a bit stark on him compared to Asterion?

I think the tabard looks great, Damo. The contrast is stark, but it fits with the rest of the model.

I think I might do it black and the raised detail in yellow? it's almost too bright for the overall look I feel? because once the armour is painted it's very gritty and dark, this might just be a bit much, I might shade it a bit first though and see what it looks like :-)

It's your call (and your model), Damo - I haven't got any yellow on my WIP Minos librarian, and very little blue, either. Go with what you feel.

That statue is awesome buddy, very cool and in-keeping with the brutal nature of the Minotaurs.

Fantastic work as always bud. Swords are looking awesome. Fountain is looking excellent. Nice and crusty, but not disgusting.

So just got my FW book with the updated sheets in it and i'm really peeved on one thing :-( Ivanus Enkomi used to be able to have a jump pack and sword with his fist which is how I modeled him to boost the assault squad, so I need to change the model up a bit now and change his head and sword i'm guessing (i'm not sure what a normal Chaplain should have or can have)? and then build another Enkomi as a standard one with a fist and crozius? looks like my Mino's are going to be Chaplain heavy.

Fountain looks great and power swords are fantastic. With the tabard imtge shading is very nice! The bright colour does maybe draw the eye down, away from the face a bit?

Yeah I think that may be the issue San, it draws focus too easily, i'll have a play around tonight if I get a chance and see what i can come up with.

Can anyone link me to some good blogs or videos of how to extend the GW building kits with plastic and foam etc? if i'm building them from scratch and want to make them a little bigger without using all the sprues.... :-)

Hey guys, I managed some work on the Mino board! I 'grouted' the tiles and varnished the wooden boards, also painted the pillars and set it up to see how it looks! coming along nicely I think, only things I think left to do is paint the plinths of the statues to match the pillars (or maybe I should paint the whole statue? or is the contrast good!) and make the rear wall with doors in it. I might even make some Minotaurs battle banners to hang between the columns on the side? thoughts?








I also got this guy back ready to go! yep, it's a Lucius Pattern Warhound Scout Titan! started to prime him up but I was already out of primer so I could only squeeze a little out, still, it's actually a really cool chunky model and I think i'll weather this one more just for fun!





Last six Europa's for RiTides all assembled waiting for priming!



and lastly, I had a look in the index' and Ivanus Enkomi from the Minotaurs is not as good or versatile as he was previously and thus means I couldn't field him with his current weapons and that a generic Chaplain with Jump pack was going to be better for me, so I swapped the sword arm out for a bolt pistol arm and the crozius arm from an older Chaplain I was working on for my IF's i'm not too sure about the crozius arm though? I think I'd prefer to use the arm from Cassius from the Deathwatch box? if you see it have a look and then imagine it on him with this pose! only thing is it'd cost me $20 for a model just to use the arm lucky I hadn't done much on his painting.

Am I the only one seeing these bloody photobucket thing saying we need to upgrade our photobucket account to use it for image hosting? What a pain in the backside.

It is impressively offensive and short-sighted for a company to do something like this. Every broken image link is a testament to just how bad, money-hungry, and abusive to their users photobucket has become. They probably broadcast that message to millions of people with this dick move

Saw this thread about Photobucket in N&R and came here first thing as I know nerdy uses it. Hopefully you can save your pics!

PB does that if you use too much bandwidth on the free account. I upgraded years ago, but they never charged me for it more than once.

Yes, they did do that - but this is a wholesale change to their Terms of Service.

Basically, unless you open up a pay account with them, you will not be linking to other sites from Photobucket anymore.

I see people listing Imgur as an alternative, but I thought they didn't play nice with linking too?

Well looks like all my pics are gone! everything from when I first started on here, such an absolute shame :-( and to be honest if I could swear on here i'd be launching a barrage of hate and insult against Photobucket! all my faces I painted all the Helsak's I built all the commission work i've done in the last couple of years...... gone......I feel a bit empty actually. Dakka is too tricky to use easily and quickly and i've only learnt how to use PB. so no more images from me until I can find a solution.

I use my wordpress blog to host images. Very easy to use, easy to upload images and very fair pricing. It is waaaaaaaaaaaay better than the horrible spam-experience you get when uploading to photoshop

Dakka is a good image host, you should fiddle with it until you get the hang of it. Feel free to message me if i can be of any help. Imgur is also a solid host. Sorry about your lost images, sucks beyond what words can easily express.

Found a site to use! and it's easy to use lets hope it stays that way!
