Hey everyone,

I am getting into 40k love the fluff and want to play. But given this is an expensive hobby I was hoping to get some advice before spending money uselessly.

I have an idea for a TAC army and I am looking to your collective wisdom to let me know of this is terrible or workable. Mostly going to play for fun but definitely would like to not lose every game. Anyway here goes:

I would only ever run one Smash Captain I expect in CA2019 other marine armies are going to get the 40 point TH. The SM Codex and Supplements make non "Generic Marines" entirely pointless unless you are going heavy on codex specific units. I would be putting a hold on buying any army or units until the majority of Psychic Awakening and Legends (important for BA) is released, as that may or may not invalid or create new builds.

I'm still a newby with my Blood Angels, and still struggling to balance the troops section etc.

But i would drop 1 Stormtalon so you can upgrade some units of yours. (-178p)
also drop the naked scout unit (-55p)

Give 1 unit of your snipers camo cloak for +2 cover (+15p)
i would also bring 4 more sanguinary guard with power fists (+128p)
as extra troops i would bring a tactical squad with a heavy weapon (lascannon) (+90p)
this will bring you back to 1999 points

the lascannon was just an example, you can change this for your own flavour and maybe save some more points by picking a cheaper weapon and give your second sniper unit some cloaks
i wouldn't bring the other flyer to, i don't think it would win it's points back. but you probably bring it for fluff or model reasons?
if you don't, drop it and take something else (a dreadnought of some aggressors or something)

i wouldn't wait till spychic awakening, it's probably an additional rulebook wich you lpay a few times but after a while you go back to the normal rules, just like vigilus.

Thanks Krull.

I actually did a major revamp to the list and was able to test it with a friend. The new list, see below, ended in a tie but I don't think my friend brought the best of his death guard and might have taken it easy on me a bit but who knows. I did make a couple mistakes and my DC got stuck in combat so they were not as effective as I would have liked. I also blew my first 2 turns of shooting doing 0 wounds.

What psychic powers did you give your libby?
Was veritas vitae worth it?
I mostly make my sanguinary ancient warlod and give hun the banner of sacrifice for a 5+fnp to units within 6" and the wings on the smash captain
how did your stormravens do?
never used sanguinor, is he good?

Sorry that was a mistake in copying the army over. I gave warlord to smash and he had gift of foresight and Angel's wing.
The ancient had the relic banner. I didnt take vitae. But based on how things went I am tempted to pay for the 2 extra relics next time and take it.

I took wings of sanguinious and quickening for the libby.

My stormraven swere underwhelming. But I think it was more about die rolls than anything else. I am not exaggerating in stating I did no damage for first two turns of shooting. I lost one first round. The second made it to late in the game before being destroyed. While they didnt put out any offence early, they did some damage later and they made my opponent focus on them for a couple turns and ignore my other targets.

Sanguinor was ok I made some strategic mistakes and limited his effectiveness. And everyone but my DC and smash failed their charges when they arrived in turn 2.

All in all I think this is a capable army but horrendous rolls will ruin anyone.
