Getting back into the hobby after a very long hiatus (pretty sure the very last mini I painted was in 2005, but it was a smashing looking
RT-era Ork in power armor), but one of the last things I began doing back then was casting glyph plates for my Ork vehicles, using grey stuff molds and smashing green stuff into them. Worked beautifully!
As I still have an extremely strong affinity for
RT-era models, and doing Death Guard I intend to be making judicious use of horns, tentacles, entrails, Nurgle icons, and eventually probably custom shoulder pads for my Plague Marines and other bits, I need to start casting things again for re-use.
So ... my plan is to create Blue Stuff molds of these items, but I'm not sure what sort of epoxy putty to use in them! I've seen the excellent results of Epo Putty on YouTube, but I'm in the US where it's not readily available (I did order some off eBay from Thailand but who knows when, or if, it will ever arrive!). Anyone else have good luck casting with epoxy putty from
BS molds using a medium readily available in the US? I don't really want to deal with liquid resin.
Ideas, tips, and stories of your experiences are greatly appreciated! Cheers!
