I feel I am going slightly mad on this one. Here is the rule in question;

Vow of the Beastslayer

"...when resolving an attack made by that model against an enemy unit that contains any models with a wound characteristic of 8 or higher, re-roll a wound roll of 1..."

It clearly states "a wound roll of 1", not all wound rolls of 1. Why does everyone appear to be rerolling all 1s? Has this been clarified by GW? Or am I interpreting this wrongly?

I am starting a chaos knights army and would like to get this right before I settle on my first list.

Thanks

Attacks are rolled one at a time,,, so there is only ever a single wound roll of one... unless you are fast rolling.... so if someone wants to be a stickler about it, don't fast roll XD.

It doesn't say "a wound roll of 1, once per turn/phase" so I think most people assume it means per attack. which is reasonable assumption considering it does say "when resolving AN attack made by that model ..."

As an aside, as "infinite" rolls is actually impossible even if the FAQ "allows" it, then it will always be a non-zero chance to pass them all. Eventually the two players will die. If they pass the game on to their decendents, they too will eventually die. And, at the end of it all, the universe will experience heat death and it, too, will die. In the instance of "infinite" hits, we're talking more of functional infinity, rather than literal.

RAW you can't pass the game onto descendants, permissive ruleset. Unless we get an FAQ from GW.

You can re-roll all of the wound rolls of 1 you make... you get to re-roll A wound roll of 1 when every you make AN attack..

i.e. one attack at a time, means that attack has a single d6 to roll. if it is a one, you can re roll the single 1. Then move on to the next attack where you can re-roll a 1 because you made AN attack.

Not that this doesn’t preclude fast rolling in any way. That’s just a way of doing similar attacks together. They still get to reroll any 1s.

Agreed, but some people can be a bit weird about the fast rolling guidelines, so if I need to slow roll to appease them, sometimes its the easier option then arguing.

Oh definitely. If they insist on trying a technicality, be technically right and delight in rolling one by one. ;-)
