I am thinking about getting into Infinity, but my local store has a lot of miniatures for sale, which are not on the official store, and which I can understand has been discontinued. Will it make any sense to buy these? Are there still valid rules for them? I am thinking of specificaly the Shasvastii, Force de Réponse Rapide Merovingienne and all the Tohaa range.

Some people might say yes, I'm saying don't bother.

We don't know what N4 will hold. Right now, CB claims they're going to continue supporting these factions...but this is exactly the concern that some of the community had when they ceased production on the models in question.

Thanks for the answer. They are very cheap, so I will take a chance and buy some. Worse case I can use them for some other rules.

Of them, the Shesvastii are the safest bet. They've largely been discontinued and replaced with resculpts, not retired entirely.

The others are a little riskier with N4, but if you like them, there's probably a good way to use them.

go nutz with the tohaa if you like the minis
they are very compétitive and fun to play

shasvastii are getting a total overhaul so all mini are playable but will look very old (most are 10 years old sculpts) they are very different from the tohaa gameplay style very glass cannon Dark eldar style

mero is another thing, they are very hard to play and master, I would not consider them as a beginner faction

all 3 will be playable in N4, but tohaa and shasvastii are better to begin playing the game
also infinity allow proxy even in tournament so take the mini you like

Have I understood it correctly that in a vanilla Ariadna army, I can include models from different sectorials like Merovingienne and Tartary?

It should be true for everyone (outside of the mess that is the Non-Aligned Armies) that the "vanilla" army list for each faction has access to all of the models in each of the sectorials. There are a lot of situations where "vanilla" has a lower AVA for the model than that trooper's home sectorial does.

well if your just talking resculpts or friendly play it shouldn't matter, from the beginning infinity was never fully WYSIWYG like GW.

I for example started playing HAQQ because I loved the look of the djanbazan but I absolutely HATE the resculpts. though some look way better like the azrail

a buddy of mine has a link team of haramaki, technically they don't exist anymore(new unit designation/models) but he still has their stats and we still play with them.

Ariadna also has a ridiculous rule for vanilla where any of the non-Tartary "basic" troops(so the Grunts, Metros, and whatever the equivalent is for Caledonia that is completely eluding me at the moment) are more restricted than other factions because of some silly lore reason that never made much sense.

It appears most oop minis can still be played in N4, I'd say buy what you like! That's what I'm trying to do. Ibe been trying to collect a shock army of acontecimento army (new 2016 resculpts), but can't find the sectoral starter, stingray tag set, etc for the life of me (your store wouldn't happen to have those would they?).

Tmive hears rumblings that the aca is discontinued in n4, but I'm still going to try to find them, paint them, and use them.
